Used X Plaid or New Model X LR

Get the new car. They charge faster, have lots of updates and improvements. Max acceleration is the only benefit (although significant) to the plaid. New model X will still come with Chetah launch and ludicris standard.

    Israel/Hamas conflict

When Pearl Harbor was sneak attacked by the Japanese, American fought back with terrible vengence. We fought and killed until they were unable to attack anymore. Israel is just doing the same thing. People and countries are allowed to fight back when targeted and attacked. They need to protect...

    Charging Rates/How to find them

Most Florida electricity rates are much lower than the National average. Just check your electricity bill to determing the rate plan you are on, and charge accordingly.

Believe the Tesla roofs are coated to repel UV. Tesla recommends agains the use of rain repellants, especially on the windshield.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Typical strategy by US to deal with electronic jammers and radar is to send in electronic warfare planes to trigger the devices. They determine the locations and frequencies used by the enemy. Right behind those technology planes are fighter bombers, who will destroy to discovered locations...

    Rental Model X for 1 month & 6k miles [$$]

Not many X owners would be willing to rental their cars to someone that will be leaving the country after the month. Would be expensive to handle the logistics of such a long, one way rental. Probably entail pre-payment in full, as well as finding an insurance company that would cover this...

    Value of FSD on resale

Most all new and used cars are seeing reduced prices. They went way up during Covid, and now returning to more normal. Accessories, like FSD, rarely bring much resale value in the used market. People buying used are more interested in the transportation value, rather than add ons. For most, the...

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

The look is due to the function. Cybertruck was designed to not need a body stamping plant or paint booth. Both are hugely expensive, take up a lot of manufacturing floor space, use a lot of material and energy. Simply take a roll of stainless steel, cut out panels and fold along straight lines...

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

There are perhaps a million human piloted car accidents every year. Perhaps un-realistic to expect a FSD vehicle to never get into an accident. Goal is perfection, but perhaps just being better than human is enough to promote the technology.

Is the 2023 Model X suspension just not refined?

I believe that Mercedes and BMW have chosen to put hundreds of extra pounds of insulation in their larger cars, to increase the feeling of luxury. The offset of this is extra weight and lower range. Feel my 2022 X is a great combination of smooth ride and great handling. Just took it up Palomar...

Good chance that with visible damage like that, the tire has lost some integrity. Need a new tire.

Should I update from my 2021.4.18 since I have FSD?

Elon has mentioned that they are close to releasing a new version of FSD that will use the central camera instead of occasional steering wheel bumps to confirm driver engagement. That sounds like it would solve your concern.

    Just got FSD - 2023 X

Same with my 2022. Downloaded the latest software the day before, and got the email approving the FDS trial. Simply blown away with how good it is. Needed to go to Dr. Appointment. 2024.8 shafted with FSD trial?

Front suspension creak when turning but Tesla says normal

Most all legacy dealerships do this as well. They estimate the diagnosis fee. You are responsible for this fee if the issue is not covered under warranty. If the warranty will cover the repair, the fee will be removed.

Finally got my FSD trial - Major school zone issue

FSD is now designed to "learn" these difficult situations, and figure out a solution. This is why they call it FSD (Supervised). Driver is supposed to be aware of how FSD is doing in these situations, and take over when necessary. I would be uncomfortable letting FSD take full control in a...

What’s the point if I have to tug the wheel every 10 seconds?

Help is on the way. Nag was developed to appease Federal regulators. Elon just mentioned that they have a new release, coming soon, that will mostly eliminate the nag. Will depend more on interior camera to determine focus of the driver.

    Israel/Hamas conflict

    Is premium paint more durable?

Paint that shows car wash scratches is often due to color than other factors. My "free" pearl white paint shows no car wash scratches. Mostly due to the color. A black car, on the other hand, will show lots of fine scratches.

Using AI to improve wipe malfunction

When I purchased my 2017 Model X, it did not come with automatic wipers. 6 Months later automatic wipers and headlight dimming were added as a free feature with an OTA download. They both got even better over time, with development. This is not unusual with Tesla. They invent something and...

Is the glass distortion still a problem for ‘24 model

Tesla windshields seem to be little different from other windshields. None of they are built with optical precision, but are two sheets of flat glass sandwiched with a thin plastic membrane between them (safety glass). They are flat float glass, sandwiched and then heat molded to the final...

For small body dents that can't be PDR'd, is Tesla Certified body shop necessary?

Factory and factory body work is most always going to be more expensive than using an independant shop. Certified usually means additional training and equipment.

This is MY idea, you can't have it!

When I replaced my Yoke last month, service noted I was due for a tire rotation. They could do it at the same time the remote service was being done. Ended up taking it to local tire shop, where they did it for free. Due to staggered tires, I could only rotate them front to back.

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

The Cybertruck is not an exercise in styling, but more to answer "What if?" questions. What if you could build a working truck, without a body stamping plant, paint shop, gas/diesel burning engine, transmission, exhaust pipes and multi speed transmissions. Make it bullet proof, more...

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

Large legacy ICE trucks have their own share of ugly. Usually it is only their owners that find them beautiful. Example is an F-350 dually, lifted, huge mud tires, bolt on light racks, bed with 5th wheel gear, front winch, bull balls hanging from rear hitch, gun rack, flags waving, huge exhaust...

Hertz charger $277 for *gasoline* to fill-up a Model 3

Rental companies charge high refueling charges because they need to cover both the fuel, and the labor to have them topped off. Would rather have their cars returned with at least as much fuel as when they drove off. Refueling is a pain for doing, so they charge a lot as well.
