What is the Tesla rated wH/mi for 2024 Model Y Long Range?

My understanding was the consumption number on the website includes changing losses....not only energy used to travel somewhere....which obviously is lower.

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Anyone have a quote from a 2021 / gen 4 port type car? Curious if the part number is different.

This is the official retrofit of model 3 CCS been announced?

Thanks. I'm impatient. It's only been several hours.

This is the official retrofit of model 3 CCS been announced?

I went ahead and did the ECU upgrade myself on my '21 M3LR. Anyone know how to buy the adapter? The web page still says I need a retrofit even though the car says I don't anymore. Thanks.

Need advice for New Tesla owner making 800 mile trip

Depending on how bad you want to do the other route....if you have a mobile connector with a NEMA 14-50, the other route is very doable if you stopped at an RV park...like silver City...they also have a public L2. There's several along the route. I'd always call ahead, but they tend to be...

    Car seat cleaning

I'm sure some of the other recommendations are fine, but I just use what the manual recommends...a non detergent soap. Castile soap works great. Smells good. Is super cheep. My seats look brand new after 2+ years and I have kids so....frequently used.

Tesla Wall Connector control via Tesla App 4.23

No issues for me connecting....I believe the wall connector now has this functionality. Havn't played with it myself, but there's an option to restrict to specific TOD hours in the Tesla app if you add the wall connector.

Tesla Wall Connector control via Tesla App 4.23

Where'd you get this from? Probably not Tesla? I can't control my connector either with 4.23. Pretty sure this is country dependant...and not in the US.

    SAE to standardize NACS

If you think it's fair to compare a headwind in winter to a tailwind in summer and call it "due to winter conditions" .... Do you also call it 50% increase because you drive up a mountain in the winter and compare that to flat summer driving?
  11. P

    SAE to standardize NACS

The topic was how big a deal it is for winter driving. If you precondition and do a long drive where it actually matters a 50% reduction is a very edge case. Example trip fom ABRP using OPs temp example: A 170 mile trip mostly highway at 85F averages 248 wh/mi. Same trip at -20F with heavy...
  12. P

    SAE to standardize NACS

Yes, but 50% is near worse case and the original comment implied it was a "typical" winter. It's not typical even for folks who live in places where it gets that cold because winter is so long and there's plenty of winter where it isn't 0F no matter where you live. I lived in Alaska where it...
  13. P

    SAE to standardize NACS

50% seems a bit hyperbole for most winter driving. My experience is 15-20% in additional energy is conservative for planning for the majority of conditions. If you don't precondition and do short trips sure...but then range/charging isn't really a factor.

    Fog Lights Mini Cracks?

Update. Mobile service came and replaced one of the fog lights under warranty. They said they'll be back and replace the other under warranty when they get the part. Overall it was very nice mobile service experience.

    Fog Lights Mini Cracks?

It is under warranty. I have a mobile service appointment. I'm hoping that's exactly what they say.

    Fog Lights Mini Cracks?

Thanks for the data point. Yes I can feel them with a fingernail. My car has always been kept in a garage except when I've gone on a road trip at a hotel etc. Driving conditions have mostly been pretty mild. I've gone skiing and been in the snow some. I did get caught in an freezing rain in...

    Fog Lights Mini Cracks?

Anyone else have fog lights that look like they have a lot of mini cracks on them? Is this typical? Anyone have this fixed under warranty? I have one light that has a big crack in it. The other has a lot of small crack type marks that won't clean off. Thanks.

REAR FACING ONLY child seats in M3- which ones have you used if you're over 6' tall?

We have a Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat. Fits in the car well and isn't an infant seat. Used it since the little guy was born in M3LR. I'm 5 10" and have no issues. May be slightly tight at 6 foot but just about any car seat will.

Bitten by Charging Interface or Bug Again

Scheduled departure is the only thing I've used since I got the car in Oct 21 and it's worked great every time....no matter when I set it. The only caveat is that once when I've set it to 100% it took a bit longer than the time I set to be ready to finish.

"Ads" on the cards... a rant

I hate ads in electronics but honestly don't consider those ads. To me those are feature suggestions. It's different if they were for premium connectivity or FSD etc. I don't really mind the former (to a point) and loath the later.

    Exterior windshield haze while wiping?

Many/most/all "rain repellent" type products can cause streaking you describe. I think it's usually residue left behind. Not sure how remove it. I don't like those products for multiple reasons and that's one of them. Not exactly the same but the owners manual says: Do not add formulated...

Energy screen drive versus consumption inconsistency

I think of elevation as a sub category for driving which is specifically broken out. If pertaining to "rated" elevation makes a lot of sense to me to show how extra energy going up a hill takes etc. For a "trip" it also can make sense. In therory it should always be 0 in this case, but that...

    Predicted mileage on main screen?

Just curious to specifically what you'd like to see? What would this range be based on? Any type or range number like that isn't going to be a good estimation of reality unless you have a route programed into the NAV. Going uphill/downhill, headwind/tailwind...all thise things can have a...

    I wouldnt buy a Model 3 again

Saying you'd like Tesla to have/improve accessibility features is different from how the OP described it. I'm all for accommodating disabilities but I'm not aware many OEMs specifically do that.
  25. P

    I wouldnt buy a Model 3 again

Maybe. In general this is a good idea...however, if someone struggles to read the screen as is, there is a serious question to if their eyesight is safe to drive. DMVs typically require passing an eye test which is normally only done every 5 to 10 years in the US. In some cases longer. All...

    I wouldnt buy a Model 3 again

This isn't meant to be rude....my reaction to this is you should consider seeing an eye doctor. I think all the text and symbols are sized very appropriately. They are very easy to read. If they were much bigger they would be obnoxiously so.
  27. P

    Model 3 off peak

You can manually set a start time, you just can't select a start and stop time simultaneously. The car will either start at the start time and charge until hitting the selected SOC or calculate a time to start to hit the selected SOC at the end time.

    What's this "Charge Cycle" talk?

Then it's expected the battery will be at around 70-80% of the original capacity. No error will specifically pop up. Your example of a charging cycle is correct. As an owner you can get an estimate by taking your average kwh/mi and odometer and doing the math for how many charge cycles you've...

Tesla belatedly tries to make their connector a North American standard

This will be interesting to see how it plays out. IF Tesla can get most the other charging networks to install NACS in most/all of their chargers, I can see other auto makers switching over in 2-3 years. If not, then CSS will win out and this is mostly irrelevant.

    New Energy App

The rated tab will display consumption relative to EPA efficiency ratings. The trip tab will show consumption relative to the trip computer's estimate for the route you have in the navigation. For example, if you drive up a big hill and gain a lot of elevation, your consumption will far...

    Strange phone key behavior

While it could be an issue with the car, it is more likely an issue from the phone side. For phone key to work, the Bluetooth on the phone needs to be turned on and a "background process" on the phone needs to be running which controls the phone key's Bluetooth signals. This is most notable...

    Just had Wall Charger installed

The manual is thin on details but indicates the WC can/will update firmware when connected to a Telsa. One would assume this is over the data connection in the charge cable.
  35. P

    Range-Loss Related to Heat?

This makes sense. Isn't it the opposite after a charge? Say you charge to 50% but then several hours after the charge it shows 52%. I was thinking that means the BMS had an overestimate of capacity.

Wireless charging essentially useless in the summer?

My S21 and my wife's S20 FE both have always charged flawlessly...even in the summer...it's consistently 96-105 here in the summer.

    Tesla Solar System Questions

I will have net metering with excess that carries over indefinitely....so I don't agree with this for my situation. I've lived here for one year...still haven't had a single power outage. I love the idea of having a PW....I don't think they make financial sense for my situation.

    Tesla Solar System Questions

Yeah, most home improvements are really hard to quantify value added. Out here in NM we're nowhere near the crazy home prices as CA. That being said, IMO for my situation, there's def some home value added where an average electric bill for a perspective buyer would be $220-250 a month and...

    Tesla Solar System Questions

Thanks all for the advice. I'm moving forward for now. By my assumptions, I'll break even if I get about 7k extra on the sale price of the house due to the added value....which is hard to determine but I think in the corect ballpark for the system I'm going with. All of the above. I'm happy...

    Tesla Solar System Questions

I'm looking into getting a Tesla solar system. I've done quite a bit of looking but haven't been able to nail down a few questions. If I get a 7.2 kW system (no PW) and have net metering: 1. If my house is demanding more power than the solar system can provide at any given time (say 11 kW...

    Article on potential security vulnerability

Yeah, me neither. In practice this isn't likely to be used except in very rare circumstances. Probably more like someone trying to get back at their ex than car thieves in general.
  44. P

    Article on potential security vulnerability

I think this is newly demonstrated, but probably not news for those who study this sort of thing. Read attached for details, but consider turning your Bluetooth off when leaving your car depending on your risk tolerance...(PIN to drive also but that won't prevent unlocking)...

Walk away lock while reaching for the charger

Tesla says "Gray area for the warranty" and says I drained it [12V covered under warranty - resolved]

I'm no expert on this, but it seems like this should be very easy to detect with software and have the car report the 12V needs replacing...and this detection logic would be super important to have because otherwise your car would never sleep.

    2022.12.3.1

I noticed my 21 M3LR indicate there was a software updates available when I started to drive home from work. After I got home I kinda forgot about it for a bit then checked the app...it said connect to wifi to update. Went out to my garage and wifi was turned off (it had always been on since...

Broadcast phone sound to Tesla Speakers

It's a bit hard for me to understand your setup exactly, but in general you can play phone audio by connecting your phone to the car via Bluetooth and select your phone as the audio input via the car's Bluetooth menu.
