How to fix Tesla Customer Service

How about each owner just shares what their actual experience has been, and let the chips fall as they may. Unless you have actual data, who says you know “the truth.” I can find you horror stories on any make/model car or any product for that matter. And before you point to posts here, remember...

    Quick 4-month new MY report

I've had my MYLR for 6 months, and I could not be more pleased with it. I am enjoying it more than any of the 18 cars we've previously owned. Of course the jury is still out until I have some sense of the long term reliability, but so far very good.

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

Highly unlikely in both cases IMO. Tesla is in cost reduction mode right now, (net) adds seem unlikely. Lots of make/model cars don't have spares anymore and continue trending that way, and most people don't need/want PowerShare enough to pay for it (it won't be "free").

Model Y Reverse UFO Sound Change/Disable

Tesla and other automakers can’t remedy anything, they’re just complying with our laws. “The Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act of 2010 was approved by the US Senate by unanimous consent on December 9, 2010 and passed by the House of Representatives by 379 to 30 on December 16, 2010.” “After...

Model Y Confusion, what battery will I get?

+1. Though all Teslas now (software) mimic regen when the battery is too full, so you have one pedal driving whether regen is active or not. Evidently there was a short period a few years ago where at 100% charge, the car would not brake if one pedal driving (HOLD) was selected - yikes!

    Blue vs White Paint

+1. A very good point. And roof sunshades are very inexpensive, even the better ones. Exterior color probably doesn’t much matter for interior heat while parked during summer.

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

I was shocked at the Cybertruck when it was unveiled, but it grew on me over time. I think the Cybertruck is interestingly different, and the technology overrides the looks for me. (Unlike most people?) I prefer owning vehicles that don't look just like every other vehicle on road, but it still...

    Blue vs White Paint

+1. There are WAY too many white ones around, since that was the no upcharge color for many years. Worst case white vs black is 125º vs 135º - hot either way. Blue is probably a couple degrees cooler than black. I'd get the color you want to look at, what's 10ºF for summer only. Might be a...

    Cybertrucks are WIDE!

Yesterday I was at a somewhat crowded Supercharger, and while charging a Cybertruck backed in next to me. Elon is headstrong and seems impulsive, that's not new. His impulses have turned out well in the past, but that does not guarantee they always will. None of us here know what's going on within, so any predictions are guesses, some above are naive (not all). Where Tesla was not profitable for...

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

Seems like using worst case to govern your decision making instead of likely case. Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Yes, I've read that - and acknowledged same in my post. But I can tell you superchargers are (way) underutilized in many parts of the country. The one I use most often is 12 stalls, and I've seen from 2 to 6 stalls in use on any given visit, usually 4 or less - that's not a good use of...

All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

I can't remember FSD ever self-disengaging IME, but I'm not doubting your experience. All US Cars capable of FSD will be enabled for one month trial this week

My free trial just expired, and while I think it's amazing how capable FSD 12 is, I don't need self driving so there's no reason for me to pay for it. Otrifowd Magshade for Model 3/Y

OK, to return to civility - I am not finding the MagShade price to be out of line with others. I have one and the quality is good, and it doesn't have the flaw of sagging that plagues many roof sunshades. Here are literally dozens of options, and very few are anything like 1/2 the price. You...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

I'll be very surprised if the Juniper shows up before Jan 2025. I am guessing the reduced price EV model is, will be the top priority, and that's slated for early 2025 (though some Osborne effect defense probably in play). But we'll see. MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

That was my calculus. Though I don't normally trade cars often, like to keep a car 7+ years, IF I want the Juniper so much when it comes out I can do a trade. I'd probably still wait for initial bugs to be worked out, HW5, Abyss Blue Multicoat (may never come, and I don't want a wrap), or...

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

I'm surprised and curious as to why? I don't have USS and vision only parking is very conservative IME. When it says stop, I get out and look, and have lots of room left every time. In fact, if you use auto park to back into a supercharger, the cable reaches - but barely, and there's more than a...

    Car knows home routine

Agreed. I haven't hit my head at home, but it would be nice if it fully opened when outside. The opening has to be lower on my MY than any previous car I've owned. OTOH, I would probably start hitting my head at home if I got used to full opening everywhere but home...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

Dramatically increases the cost of solar however. Gone are the days when homeowners could just use what they needed and get paid for any surplus they sent to the grid without any battery/concern for supply/demand mismatches. Haven't researched the topic yet, but I assume it's more cost...

    Otrifowd Magshade for Model 3/Y

With summer approaching, I was about to buy a pano roof sunshade, the ones with the various plastic clips. Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

You may well be right, I was trying to extend the benefit of the doubt. If people understood electricity daily demand curves and how large scale utilities have to respond to fluctuating demand, they might understand why net metering shouldn’t continue indefinitely. It was a gift incentive that...

Does a battery ever have a positive ROI with net metering

Net metering isn't sustainable where homeowners view the grid as a battery, shouldn't be news to anyone. Net metering (without local system batteries) makes the demand curve for utilities worse, not better. The flatter the demand curve, the more efficient for traditional power plants, also not...

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

Are you satisfied with the range you get?

I don't travel anywhere near as far as my comfortable range daily, and I charge level 2 at home, so that's more than workable. When I take longer trips, superchargers are more than adequate and reliable, so I have no qualms there either. EVs don't make sense if you can't charge at home and/or...

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

Something Tesla needs to address, sooner or later, allow route selection like Google and Apple Maps. Tesla NAV routinely chooses routes I do not want. FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

It’s way more tempting at $8000, and V12 is astonishingly good, but it still requires too much help from the driver to be considered “self driving” or anywhere near “robo taxi.” But unlike some others, I think V12 suggests they may actually reach full “self driving” at least in many cases. Poll: Do You Plug In Every Day (for daily driving, home charging)?

While true, every report I have read seems to suggest as long as you stay between 30% and 80%, battery life won't degrade much more than keeping it as close to 50% as possible at all times. If you have specifics please share. Using superchargers a lot, and/or running close to 100% or 0% will...
