Is the Model S a villian now?

The Plaid reminds me of when the Nissan GTR first came out. It blew every other car out of the water and was cheaper still. People hated that, called it a computer on wheels, etc. Other cars have caught up and surpassed the GTR since however it really did rock the boat when it came out. The...

    Opinion requested. P85D

I don't disagree. My statement is that only Tesla knows for sure the failure rate and they're not gonna share anytime soon. What we see out here is all anecdotal to what we see, read, and/or hear. Our own cognitive bias will shift our viewpoint to what suits our situation best. If you've been...

    Opinion requested. P85D

I agree that we've read a lot of horror stories of the HV battery going bad unexpectedly however we only hear it because it's coming as bad news. We never hear about the HV batteries that are still sitting in the older legacy MS cars that are still running with 150k+ mileage. It's called...

    Opinion requested. P85D

I'll say the same thing I said in another thread... Will $7500 buy you another P85D with the same mileage and condition? If yes, then go buy that P85D for $7500... if not, then pay the $7500 and enjoy your newly fixed P85D for perhaps the next 5-6 years again. Many will argue the flawed design...

Road and Track EV Performance Car of the Year

The "Turbo" is a trim level, not necessarily that it's a force-induction vehicle. Kinda like the "EX" in Honda Accord EX. Or the "Plaid" in Tesla Model S Plaid. Porsche could come out with a skateboard and call it the Porsche FlatRider Turbo S. :)

    FUSC / SC01 S-X owners: buy new S-X w/SC01-FUSC & flip...?

I will reiterate, once you transfer your existing FUSC to the brand new car, the FUSC will stay with YOU and the CAR only meaning that if you sell the car, the FUSC will be stripped by Tesla and go bye-bye for everyone thereafter. I almost jumped on this to upgrade to Plaid but when I learned...

    2014 MS P85 parting out?

As I mentioned "holding everything else constant" meaning that the HV battery is still in good condition. We've all read the horror stories of HV batteries going bad at the very worse and unexpected times however nobody has a crystal ball so you can only make choices based on what you know...

    2014 MS P85 parting out?

Here's what you have to ask yourself holding everything else constant: "Would $9k afford me a car that is better than a used 2014 MS P85 with 110k miles in the same condition as yours right now and 100% fully functional?" If the answer is no, then pay the $9k and you have yourself an awesome...

Vendor Official Atomic Wheels thread for Model S 21+

That first wheel design has been done to death by so many various wheel manufacturers... thank you for the second design. It's a breath of fresh air to see something different.

When will Tesla offer a vehicle with a listed range of 500+ miles?

When the demand exceeds any potential supply. I'm going to guess that 90% of EV owners don't need 500+ miles or are willing to pay the premium for it. It doesn't make sense financially. Gotta think about the regular folks. Tesla is not Lamborghini. It will happen when enough people demand it...

    What would you do?

I would drive tires on 4/32nd tread depth indefinitely however with the situation, I'd at least replace both rears with new tires. Might as well go all four corners to be honest if they're all 4/32nd to keep it even. If you can afford a 2022 Plaid, an extra $2k for new tires shouldn't be a big...

Road Hugger GTZ A/S initial impressions

As long as the tire has the correct weight/load rating for your vehicle and tread design for your driving purpose/location, it won't matter most of the time. The average driver on the road is not gonna rip through tires racing from point A to B. If a reputable store like DT carries them, you can...

FUSC transfer till the end of year (2023)

@gillmj24 @NV Ray Thanks for clarifying. Wasn't code SC02 or SC03 like this where the FUSC would remain with the owner for the current car but as soon as the car was sold, the FUSC would go bye-bye for everyone. Tesla is working all the angles to get true-FUSC cars off the roads. So with this...

FUSC transfer till the end of year (2023)

As in the original owner? Meaning it's only good for 1-owner cars? I'm not the first owner of my P85D so I guess I'm outta luck. :(

FUSC transfer till the end of year (2023)

Correct me if I'm wrong, I can transfer the FUSC SCO1 from my P85D onto a new Plaid and have a Plaid with FUSC forever? Seriously? Crappy that I would lose USS since you'd have to buy brand new but I could foresee incredible resale value down the road. Imagine a low mileage Plaid with SCO1 FUSC...
