Safety measures from people stealing battery & other components

There is nothing easily stolen specifically from an EV drivetrain. Even mobile charging infrastructure is vehicle-specific and not particularly lucrative on black market. What your neighbor may have been confused about is EV charging infrastructure theft - that is, cords and connectors from...

M3P battery draining while traveling overseas long term (Sentry has been off)

Holy s…! I had seen that thread going around about that retrofit. smh. Unbelievable. Thanks for following up.

M3P battery draining while traveling overseas long term (Sentry has been off)

Good outcome and thank you for following up, but we still really want to know what happened that caused that drain! 🤪

M3P battery draining while traveling overseas long term (Sentry has been off)

I know you’ve said you don’t have any friends or family in the area, but since this is a condo, there will be maintenance staff. If I were you, I’d contact the property management and make a desperate human-to-human appeal + offer to pay direct cash for help from building maintenance to plug in...

Door handles no longer retract fully on their own

This is definitely an artifact of 75,000 miles of well-loved driving: the door handles no longer fully retract flush on their own. Instead, I have to gently push them the last millimeter or so. Seems like the springs are weak or perhaps there’s just a dirt buildup inside. Any DIY suggestions on...

AC energy consumption higher than heat pump?

I can’t say I know how the heat pump in any Tesla works (and mine predates its inclusion), but in general, that is how all heat pumps work: bidirectionally.

Windshield wiper fluid spray button WAY too sensitive

I made the mistake of complaining about the "defect" to Mobile Service when they were out for something else. That's how I learned how it actually works. So, somebody was in fact that dumb. 👈

    OTHER EV’S SUCK

The Ioniq 5 is my wife’s car. It’s quieter and higher quality build than my 3, but I still prefer driving my 3, and the Supercharger network can’t be beat for road trips.

    OTHER EV’S SUCK

In our household, in addition to the Tesla 3, we also have a Kia Soul EV and a Hyundai Ioniq 5. Love them both.

    First Long Road Trip

100% agreed on your noted highs and lows. I have the basic/free EAP and never use it because it’s barely useful to even just swap sunglasses. No chance in hell I’d use FSD even if it came with the car. TACC is a lifesaver for your ankle on a 12-hour drive - if there’s no traffic, because...

Windshield wiper fluid spray button WAY too sensitive

Definitely sounds like something is different for you; I have to “deep press” and hold for washers.

    Trains displayed as trucks

My day just improved a bit knowing there’s another person out there who shares my thoughts on this. The video game taking up the left half of the screen is a stupid waste of real estate for people who drive themselves. I’d rather have one-touch access to fog lights, trip computer, music...

    Heated charge port retrofit

Just bumping this again: anyone done it? I have already replaced my charge port ECU for the DIY CCS upgrade.

Very high energy usage for the first 3 miles of a trip

Try preconditioning from the app before your next trip.

Ski road trip: across the WA Cascades and MT Rockies, from Seattle to Big Sky

Quick followup: I've done a number of other longish trips in this car, but they've all been north <---> south along the West Coast, from as far north as Whistler, BC, to as far south as Redwood Shores, CA. Also have done a whole lot of winter/snow driving in this car, but always in the...
