Anyone Have Experience with Gold Coast Auto Body in Chicago?

Well we got rear-ended last Saturday. We were stationary and a young gentleman hit the rear end. There appears to be no structural damage. In any case I heard that what Gold Coast charges frequently exceeds the insurance payment. Tesla Chicago suggested the other choice is Service King. Any...

California to Mexico City and back. Feasible or too difficult?

I would not completely discount the drive because of charging. We are new to the Midwest and decided to drive around lake Michigan last summer. On the upper end things get rural and no super chargers. Even very limited charging stations on plugshare. But you know what, we enjoyed the drive...

Navigant study: Ford leads autonomous, Tesla 12th?

On a recent trip visiting to top engineering colleges with our boys the various admissions teams mentioned tesla and spacex as companies that recruit their respective students, offer internships etc. None of these schools mentioned Ford or Ford suppliers. For now Elon has access to very top...

    Pleasant surprise at 25k service

Similar experience: During annual service Tesla replaced the center console for free. The holding pin for the handle had broken off on one side and hence was lose on one side. I would have expected to pay for this as it is likely that we caused this very minor wear and tear problem.

    AC Noise - Loud!

The AC noise in our P85D was getting really loud. This was fixed during annual check-up. Apparently a line was slightly rubbing against the frame. In any case the loud noise is gone and we are back to normal.

Is direct sale really a better model than dealerships?

Hmmm, since you are in Michigan may be you went to Chicago? We bought 2 MS from Chicago with terrific service. Just picked up our P85DL from 2 year annual checkup. It was plain flawless. Minor alignment adjustment. They identified and fixed a few minor problems that I wasn't aware off: An AC...

How to Squeeze the Most Miles out of a Nearly Dead Battery?

Yes, at about 25mph consumption is down to 170 wpm (flat, no wind). (P85D) others likely to be better. You also have a few extra miles below zero. Don't ask how we know. Also, if you happen to pass a gas station take the tire pressure up to max and possibly a touch higher for the emergency. It...

Not so sure anymore if I should get the P100D when I read all these threads...

Off course Tesla is innovating quickly but not to keep the stock hot or news or any other games. The speed of innovation is high and it is much safer to implement a small set of changes in production any time they are ready rather than waiting for a model cycle and release lots of them in one...

Not so sure anymore if I should get the P100D when I read all these threads...

The Chicago team is excellent! Our two Teslas needed the SC for tires, extra keys and wipers that is it. Class act and no surprises. The driving experience is still not getting old. Cruise in AP and have an in depth conversation with family or in manual pass others on country roads with a...

Renting an S - Brit in the USA

Suggestion: For long distance driving off the superchargers one needs to find something better than 110V. Plugshare is a good app. Destination chargers also. Other sources: Police, not joking, for public places with public power for PA systems, RV places, small airports. If you get stranded...

The "Is Tesla Going Bankrupt?" thread

In response to the 400k orders Tesla is seeking to accelerate growth to be able to satisfy the unexpected high level of orders. Tesla does this by spending / investing faster. What Tesla is doing right now is really hard to scale up at their speed. Yes it is likely to create a cash crunch. By...

    The end of the road

fsch, tks for sharing! Would you mind adding your charging experience to plugshare? I don't believe I saw entries in plugshare a moment ago? We found plugshare to be critical in a recent attempt to drive around Lake Michigan. In the northern end power electrons become harder to find. Finding...

AutoPilot - note to drivers and Consumer Reports

We just returned home after a 320 mile trip because of a sick puppy. We usually don't drive far but use our plane. * Driving conscientiously saves a lot of people energy and preserves a higher level of alertness for short phases of active driving * I hope my teenage sons will become comfortable...

    Questions for Chicago Owners

We are downtown in a high-rise building. There were big and complicated debates about upgrades to the exiting 110 outlets in the garage. ConEd was involved, new legal entity was going to get created etc etc. It turns out there are now some 6 model S in the garage and everybody seems to be happy...
