    Model Y ride comfort?

It's the only reason for me to NOT pull the trigger on the model Y. That and cross traffic alert that may be added in the future. Otherwise I would purchase. FSD? Probably won't realistically happen until the fourth quarter. Not sure what year. I do like some features the competition in coming...

    Windshield durability

That isn't too bad. Was that through Tesla or some other glass company? Was calibration needed or done?
  3. patrick80132

    Windshield durability

I have "full glass coverage" but I expect the big Tesla windshields and subsequent calibration are going to cost the insurance company a fortune.

    Windshield durability

Here in Colorado we can a lot of sand/gravel on the road that over time pits the windshields pretty badly. 3 years is kind of a good lifetime (60k miles) before everything smears. Are Tesla windshields more durable and less prone to pitting than regular windshields? Any real world experience to...

    Collision avoidance

My wife, driving our Audi A4 with pre-sense rear ended a vehicle in front of her while turning and merging onto an entrance ramp. Totally her fault, however the driver did one of those, "way too cautious" stop where you shouldn't things, we have all experienced at one time or another, while...

    Getting in and out

So do we know if the seat height getting into the Y will be possibly higher than the 3? For me being taller at 6'2" it would be helpful.

Tesla Releases Q2 Safety Report, Adds Vehicle Fire Stats

Elon says his vehicles reduced accidents to the point of being much safer than non AP cars. I wonder if that is true if everyone left their car in AP all the time while driving within the parameters of the AP feature if truly there would be less accidents. People can't go to sleep or read a...

Reckless driver, Model 3 prevents accident…

I thought that was "Mad Max" mode he or she was using.
  10. patrick80132

    FSD worth now and future?

I would hope the FSD would be transferable from one car to another. So if I purchase an M3 and later get a Y it would come with me.

Got a new, white Model 3, and the quality is dreadful [Humor: Model 3 toy]

    Battery damaged

Definitely collision "at fault" accident. Better to file a claim than pay out of pocket.

If FSD was never going to be an option, would you still purchase a Tesla

Tesla's AI may eventually solve the FSD issue OR maybe not. Perhaps it's too complicated for a computer to resolve all the issues a driver sees and reacts to. Let's say Elon says, "it can't be done, we tried, we just can't do it right now and best case it takes another 10-15 years and more tech...

Sadly we do. If chickens get smarter we could be in trouble. :)
  16. patrick80132

    FSD worth now and future?

I'm leaning towards waiting. $6000 now but frankly I don't think they can raise the price until it is a proven item.
  17. patrick80132

    Buy now or wait?

Prices just went up $400 on new M3's
  18. patrick80132

    Buy now or wait?

I agree houses are overpriced at the moment. Personally I think a big market correction is headed our way. Way to much optimism in the population right now. Good signal for a correction IMHO. However, correction will hurt Tesla as well. Prices could come down if inventory sits around too...

    Used model S

Thank you. That is super helpful.
  20. patrick80132

    Used model S

I am debating between a used CPO dual motor model S and a brand new 3. I like the size of the S for comfort since I'm 6'2" but the 3 seems pretty nimble which is nice. Will all years of the S have FSD capability like the 3 at some future date? Guessing the S rides smoother and quieter? Are the...

NEMA 14-50 adapter not included anymore

I wonder why Tesla is doing the 2nd gen plug? Do they want to push their own chargers for the long range battery owners?
  22. patrick80132

NEMA 14-50 adapter not included anymore

*The second generation Mobile Connector has a max output of 32 amps when using the 14-50 or 6-50 adapter. Recharge speeds listed above for these two adapters reflects this current output. So is it not possible to charge at the 50 amp rate any longer?

Had a SR+ for 7 days, returned it!

Colorado has a lemon law. It could come into play with any Tesla owners in Colorado I suspect. "When a new vehicle has been purchased with a manufacturer’s warranty and it has a defect that substantially impairs its use and market value within one year of purchase and that defect is not...

    Buy now or wait?

For us folks in Colorado, the state EV credit which is $5000, is going to drop as well at some point in the future. No time like the present I say.

    Trade in or not?

I finally got my wife on board after the last test drive this past Saturday. Now it's trying to sell my 2017 A4 before I order the M3. Anyone have experience with trading in a vehicle on your M3 purchase? I'm guessing since they don't sell anything but Tesla and they don't seem to have wiggle...

    Rear glass cracked

Comprehensive claims typically don't raise your rates unless you have a lot. Since I live in Colorado I avoid having chips repaired and just opt to replace the glass when they crack too big to be repaired. Sometimes they need a little help. Usually 2+ years when the glass is all pitted and...

    Best gas vs electric calculator

I got quotes from the dealer for all scheduled services for the next 60,000 miles. That and fuel came to $11,262 over 3 years. That's assuming no breakdowns which I have already had a couple. Leaking tranny pan, drive shaft bearing, computer issue. All covered under CPO warranty but I'm...

    Best gas vs electric calculator

I'm in the process of selling my spouse on a M3. I'm trying to do a fair comparison on the cost of driving 20,000 per year electric vs gas. I have the gas costs nailed down but I can't seem to find a good calculator to figure the electric cost. I know my cost for electric is $ 0.10828 per Kw...

Holding acceleration constant without cruise set

My wife commutes the interstate 20 miles one way to work. Commute to work is usually pretty easy, however coming back is pretty stop and go for 6 miles for sure and maybe more some days. I think if I can get her to use autopilot she is going she is going to love the car and get home less...

Holding acceleration constant without cruise set

One smaller concern I have before purchasing the M3 is acceleration response. Case in point, my spouse who drives sometimes when I am in the car with her in her Audi A4 or any car, just can't seem to hold a smooth constant speed. It's not a slam but I think she just doesn't have that fine motor...

Blog Tesla Says a Fix for Insurance is Weeks Away

Auto pilot will not save you from a hailstorm here in Colorado from tearing your new car apart. In theory insurance should be lower, but I think it's unlikely. Or if Tesla is that safe, drop collision from your insurance policy. Problem solved.

Is it ok to charge Tesla Model 3 only once or twice a week?

So am I reading this right that maintaining a daily overnight charge to between 75-65% would be ideal for say maybe someone doing 40 miles a day or so?
  40. patrick80132

    Maybe Elon is correct...

I listened to the investor meeting and was struck by how confident he was that lidar was a fools errand. In listening to them, they made a good argument. Vision is key. The AI learning sounds like it might actually work over time.

    Dirty car/winter driving

I live in Colorado and my wife commutes 20 interstate miles one way plus other driving. Will my wife need to wash the car pretty regularly when the roads get sloppy with slushy, dirty snow with road salt mixed in? Typically we don't wash the cars that often since they just get dirty anyway, but...

Blog Musk, S.E.C. Granted Extra Week to Settle Twitter Feud

If he were commander in chief, he could say Tesla will make a million in a month. I'd say he needs to be elected president first so he could do that. :) On the other hand, since he is a mere mortal, perhaps laying off twitter except to be a cheerleader for his brand, might be a better idea.

State Farm increasing premiums on Model 3

Most insurance companies has 2 year replacement option if totaled. Liberty and Safeco do. Or gap insurance. It's a good way for them to make money for the risk.

State Farm increasing premiums on Model 3

Insurance in the midwest insurance is so much lower than Colorado, specifically the front range. We have had huge hailstorms lately. People actually died because of the large ice chunks falling. Western slope is much less expensive.

State Farm increasing premiums on Model 3

I sell auto insurance and I looked at what it would cost me to insure an M3. I pay about $1000 a year for my 2017 Audi A4 2.0 with Safeco and the M3 would run about $200 more for the same coverage in Colorado. One of the things the insurance companies stress it that although the cars are safer...

After I bought my Audi A4 a few years ago I put up some posts on the Audi Forum when I started having some issues with the car. I could not believe the nasty posts I got in response.
