"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

This. I suspect this solves the issue though of course it’s not a fix. I do hope that Tesla can further improve the vibration mitigation because it’s definitely not perfect or even close to it. Some days I notice it more than others. Some days it’s not great at all and some days it’s very mild.

Why does the new 3P get the Spaceballs badge and the LR S does not

Yeah but for the 3P it’s 2.9. Not even in the same league…

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

I don’t doubt brake feel is better. Actual braking performance won’t be improved except for, as you stated, preventing fade with repeated stops. That’s important depending on how insanely one drives on the streets, but for most normal driving, even with triple digit pulls, is not important.

Is the glass distortion still a problem for ‘24 model

Recall will likely never happen, as it's certainly "within spec," - and, as you say, other manufacturers have the same or similar issue. I was in a Mercedes something last year in Italy, and from the back seat the distortion near the bottom of the windshield did my head in! If there are spot...

    Peeling yoke replacement

Right. That issue seems to be fixed on my mechanical horn yoke. At the very least, it hasn't happened a single time since the yoke replacement.

Is the glass distortion still a problem for ‘24 model

Sorry to hear it. We’d have advised not to bother with the replacement. This issue is model wide, sadly, though it sounds like the replacement is beyond the norm. Ugh.

    Peeling yoke replacement

Do you have a new yoke or just the older one?
  11. WilliamG

    Peeling yoke replacement

Yeah that’s odd. The one thing I did notice with my OG 2002 yoke is that sometimes when adjust volume it would go up and then back down. I’d only notice if it went from 5 to 4 etc when I let go. And since every volume notch is 1/3 of a full number I didn’t always notice it. I haven’t had that...

Model S LR Refresh 2022 rattling noise from dashboard

Haha. Mine still rattles to this day, but only if the screen is swiveled toward me. I put some felt tape in there but I guess I needed to do a better job.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

My real-world on my 2022 Plaid with forged 19s in decent weather (60F+) is around 350 miles if I’m not driving like a monkey.

    Peeling yoke replacement

That is awful and NOT normal. Get that replaced. Good grief, Tesla.

Model S LR vs Plaid for Second Model S

Plaid all the way. Once you experience it, nothing else compares. If anything about the car annoys you, just press the Button of Forgiveness with your right foot, and then you let out an audible exclamation. All truly is forgiven at this point.

    Peeling yoke replacement

Not heard of that. Got a pic?

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Plaid isn't pulling like a freight train at 190mph. Not even close to that. But sure, it's not hard to hit 190 with enough room.
  18. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

But then again... 😇 Yup, never happened on my 2021 Plaid either. Was immediately apparent on my 2022.
  19. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Well then... just hang on. It'll show up sooner or later. 😅
  20. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Yep. This. It's an on/off switch for when it turns off. Drives me a bit crazy that nobody knows what causes it, and I refuse to hazard a guess, as it'll be nonsense until we know for sure. The actual vibration doesn't bother me as it goes away quickly, but I would love to know why. The 35-50mph...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

All new inventory S will be HW4. If it's a 2023, if it has no USS (ultrasonic sensors) on the bumpers etc, it's HW4, I believe.
  22. WilliamG

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

You just might not notice it, or it hasn't started yet. My 2021 Plaid took 1400 miles before it started the vibration. I doubt any new S Plaid is immune. My new 2022 Plaid vibrated right out of the Tesla lot.
  23. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

You're 100% missing the point, and I'm not sure if you're doing it to be difficult, or if you're simply misunderstanding. I'm perfectly parked because I PERSONALLY knew where to stop. If I had stopped, say, - a foot before the white line, - using Tesla Vision, I'd be more than 2 feet before the...

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

Exactly. And downvoted, too. Honestly, I can't even understand the thought process here...
  25. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

I mean if a foot away is almost perfect, then yes, it's almost perfect.
  26. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

That's the thing. The rear camera does indeed give you enough information because... cameras! The front does not, because Tesla is stubborn and won't give our cars a much-needed bumper camera. That means USS is a lifesaver here, and Tesla Vision isn't accurate enough. Here's a couple of images...

    About Insurance Rates

Part of it is insurance companies actually losing money. Did you see how much State Farm lost in 2023? $6.3m. Sorry, did I say $6.3m? I meant $6.3bn. That's bananas.
  28. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

The problem with Tesla Vision is there’s no inches countdown displayed on the screen. I’m still undecided which I like better at the moment.
  29. WilliamG

    New AutoPark with USS

Must have. I tested today with the new update on my USS Model S, and I could park in any space I wanted at Costco, without any cars needing to be on either side.

    About Insurance Rates

Licensing fee, you know, so you can drive legally on the roads. 😅
  31. WilliamG

    Peeling yoke replacement

Yes they should do. Up to now all the prior yokes are (eventually) faulty it seems, depending on the conditions.
  32. WilliamG

    About Insurance Rates

Yeah. Unfortunately Tesla insurance isn’t available in WA State. Not sure I like the idea anyway but I’m rapidly running out of options here.
  33. WilliamG

    About Insurance Rates

Yeah a year before it was $1146 it was $670. It's just a racket. Oh, and in Seattle at least Progressive won't even insure Teslas anymore, - not even a base Model 3. If you already have Progressive now, you can keep your Tesla insured with them, but it's clear they're trying to get rid of the...

    Peeling yoke replacement

Not sure I understand the question, but in any case if they're peeling, Tesla will replace them under warranty.
  35. WilliamG

When will we get Park Assist on Model S with HW4 and no USS?

For those wondering, Park Assist now dropping in 2024.3.25 for USS vehicles, - confirmed by those who have. You now have a choice between using USS or Tesla Vision. High Fidelity visuals included for those with Ryzen chipsets...

    About Insurance Rates

I take yours, and raise you (Seattle) Progressive Insurance for my 2022 Model S Plaid, - November, 2023, $1146 (for 6 months). Renewal just popped up at $2100 for 6 months. No accidents, claims, tickets etc.

Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

I do actually realize this. I’m just saying that the quarter mile example you provided was… well… - terrible.
  39. WilliamG

Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

No, I focused on how you had no traction longer than I’ve seen any Plaid at the strip experience - as your argument.

I mean okay, that’s certainly one take. 🙄

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Yep and that’s the issue. You just don’t know what you’re getting into with a Tesla in terms of…well, anything really. Could very well end up with a more frustrating car. It’s also a time sink if you do, and having to get windows re-tinted etc, bleh. Just probably not worth the effort at all.

    Charge Port Noise

Mine does not make that clunk. You could try a little lubrication on the hinge. It’s actually double hinged so the “outer” (larger) hinge probably needs a little.
  45. WilliamG

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Yeah but realistically even if I, say, wanted a 2024 to get a new car with new, fancy seats (and my goodness do I want them), it’s not worth paying $88k+$8K FSD+$1500 blue color + TTL to get there again. That’s over $30K…

Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

You ran a 9.86… I’m not sure how that video proves anything, to be honest?

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Just tested on my Plaid, June, 2022 build, just under 9k miles (with FSD), and it was $69,900.
  48. WilliamG

Plaid Drag Racing - Not such a great night

Easy, tiger. If, as you say, the Plaid is traction limited up to 70 or 80mph (I disagree with that assessment, but let's leave that for now), why would the Sapphire be faster on the same PS4S tires to those speeds?
