    Design/ quote questions

I inquired about solar on the Tesla site. They automatically set me up with this installer. So was making sure I didn't miss something where they gave an option to select a different one.

    Design/ quote questions

I just got a Tesla solar system design/quote. It includes 6.4kw of panels and a Powerwall 2. This is in northern Wisconsin in a pretty rural area, but on-grid. Here are the general details: - 7,000 kwh estimated annual production - 16 400w qcell panels - 1 Powerwall 2 - 1 energy gateway 2 - 1...

    Connectivity issues

Hi, I'm having some LTE connectivity issues. I just want to make sure, those of you without premium connectivity: you do in fact see the restaurant/business/parks icons on your maps as you drive, correct? I'm seeing none of these.

Model 3 Tiny Rear View Mirror? And - Insurance?

You are an outlier then. With insurance products, some people are always paying for others. That is how it works. Tesla's system tries to make the marginal rate at which people pay for others as small as possible. Tesla isn't just making their safety score data up out of thin air. They're using...

Tesla safety score dictates driving time

Better way to look at it: you are REWARDED for driving between 4am-10pm

    removing MY side mirrors

Bump. Anyone else try going a while without side mirrors??? I'm still going strong, but need to go in for service so probably have to put back on so they don't get all confused.
  7. G

    removing MY side mirrors

I think this is just your perception, and being intrenched on using your mirrors thinking they give you a better view. If it's too hard for someone to change their habits, then of course keep the side mirrors. But I can assure you, even in a model 3, which has NO hatchback, it is perfectly...

    removing MY side mirrors

What hassle? It's fun. The science has been done, you can Google it. It's like 3-6 percent efficiency gain. So 10 miles or so.

    removing MY side mirrors

Hi, so I've been running my model 3 without the passenger side mirror for almost 2 years now. The driver side I have kept, but unplugged the power so I can keep it folded inward. In the model 3, the mirrors have wifi and lte antennas built into them. The driver side has 3 electrical connectors...

    Low Mileage insurance?

Actually, if it made my health insurance cheaper, ya I would.

Driving model 3 without front passenger seat?

Bump! Anybody? Anybody? Must I just try this myself?

    North to Alaska

I didn't read every post, sorry if this was mentioned. Plugshare DOES NOT have all campgrounds with electricity on it. Not even close. I'd venture to say less than 10% in the US. So if trying to take any remote trip do not limit yourself to plugshare for charging options. There are numerous...

    Low Mileage insurance?

Why do you say that? I love metromile. I've saved thousands versus an equivalent low-mileage allstate or state farm plan without the tracker.

    Curt Hitch Install Question

Oh just found quite a bit cheaper on this site, carid.com. Anyone hear about or buy anything from this site before? I never have. $216 would be nice, and less of a bullet to bite if it doesn't work out. CURT® - Class 1 Square Concealed Trailer Hitch with 1-1/4" Receiver Opening (W/O Insert...

    Curt Hitch Install Question

Has anyone tried part #11581 on a 2019? 11581 seems to be the semi-newer version from what I gather. I want the 1 1/4" receiver. #11571 seems to be the old model that was crap, so not going with that. It seems to be listed in a handful of places, twice on etrailer. Once for 2020 and once for...

Recommendations, please: kayaks, trailers, hitches, advice for Model 3

Saying i want a kayak is like saying i want a motorized vehicle. Do you want a semi-truck or a dirt bike? Kayaks are no different. Do you value bringing stuff along in the kayak? Rivers? Large lakes? Ponds? Possible whitewater? I have an inflatable kayak, bought specifically because i own a...

    Coronavirus

Yes. If you quit due to concerns over coronavirus. But again, only for 4 months then it ends.
  18. G

    Coronavirus

Not a huge problem. First, the statute is only in place for another 3.5 months. Second, we want people to stay home right now. Most jobs still being performed are far, far from 'critical.' So, if some people quit their crappy non-critical job in order to collect UI, good for them, good for...

    Coronavirus

Well ya. That is how any smart person thinks about the future anyway.
  20. G

    Coronavirus

Humans in general do not grasp these concepts. I believe I do. If you look at the active new cases charts, or the new deaths charts, it seems clear there is no pattern of exponential growth over any sustained period. There can be exponential growth for a few days in an isolated spot as testing...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

China virus numbers came out and they were good. That was the time of reversal. China has a playbook for the rest of the world to follow, corona risk is falling.
  22. G

    Coronavirus

It appears the infectious rate is too slow in the developed world to ever come to the point of a shortage of hospital equipment. Also, the death rate is at the lower end range of original possibilities and should only continue to improve. I don't expect massive travel bans or lockdowns of large...

Is reduced range in cold just from heating the car?

Heating the cabin, no doubt, is the majority of range loss in winter. Without running HVAC, assuming a warmed battery, my observations tell me the cold has very minimal effect on range, at least above 20F. I routinely get under 200wh/mi when it is colder than 30F. Even if the battery is cold...
  24. G

    Best Sr+ range?

Definitely. I'm at 171wh/mi lifetime on Sr+. Only 2300 miles though.
  25. G

Range on midrange reduced to 219 miles

It definitely takes battery temp into account when calculating estimated range.

What are you using your cyber truck for?

Not really necessary, and you can always drill your own.
  30. G

What are you using your cyber truck for?

Outdoor recreation off the beaten bath. Kayaks, canoes, skis, mountain bikes, wild game, sleeping in the bed, etc. First electric car under 50k you can do all this with more than 2 people.

Anyone else going to trade their Model 3 for Cybertruck?

That would be true IF, something like the Ridgeline didn't exist the day before.
  35. G

Anyone else going to trade their Model 3 for Cybertruck?

In order to have these "performance and price" it MUST look like this, period.
  36. G

Anyone else going to trade their Model 3 for Cybertruck?

Absolutely. It's the best car every made of you like to get out there. I only bought a 3 because it is electric and the supercharger network. This is 10x better.

    WTB: M3 SR or SR+

I might have something. Black/black. 2,000 miles. April 2019 build. I bought it as an SR. However, it still says SR+ and has 240 miles at full charge. Absolutely no issues whatsoever the car has been flawless. 14-50 and j1772 adapters. Looking to get $34800 I'm located near Chicago. Let...

You are 100percent correct. This is how the car HAD to look, to be a game changer, period. Thank you Tesla for not taking the easy route and designing another rivian. I will buy this car.

Official Thread: Cybertruck (Cybrtrk) Event - Nov 21, 2019

    Love it. Order placed.
  41. G

    Wow

Trucks should have been built like this for a long long time. It's about fricken time someone does it right.
  42. G

    OMG that truck is fugly!

Love this car. Will be trading in my 3 when it's available. Never thought I'd say that. Tesla blew away my expectations.
  43. G

Made a couple small changes to the Cybertruck. Thoughts?

As other have stated, aerodynamics ruined like this. And the retractable roof is the best feature of the car. They made it this way because it is the only way to make a truck with great range at 39000. Period.
  44. G

This truck design had better be a joke....

Bunch of teenage girls in here. Ugly! Mine is prettier!
  45. G

This truck design had better be a joke....

I'm in love with this car. If it comes out like this, I'll own one. If they change it to be more like those garbage ice trucks, I won't. This truck is shaped this way not to be different, but because it's the most functional and economical way to do it.
  46. G

Cybertruck: where does the rear glass go?

Best feature of the car. It's insane every truck doesn't have this.
  47. G

    Wow

I'll own one of these. Would never consider something shaped like a traditional truck.
  48. G

Check Out the Cybertruck Promo Photos

Looks are at the bottom of the barrel as far as important metrics go. I've been waiting for a car like this my whole life. If it comes to market as advertised, I'll own one.
