UWB not available with new Model 3

I only use an iPhone 11 for development, and don't have a Highland with UWB either, but you can check that the app has UWB enabled by looking in Settings / Privacy / Nearby Interactions. If the Tesla app is showing as enabled, then my guess is firmware update in the car or an App "feature" AKA...

Unlocking A Tesla With A Samsung Galaxy Watch

The Tesla NFC key reads as this screenshot from NFC tools, so given it has JCOP then it has a secure element. My guess is you would need a secure element in the HCE. Of course the Tesla app as a key is mainly using Bluetooth, although the Highland cars with iOS iPhone 11 and above can also use...

Unlocking A Tesla With A Samsung Galaxy Watch

This is what Android uses to emulate an NFC card and why you need an app: Host-based card emulation overview | Connectivity | Android Developers It's not too tricky to emulate, but Wear OS does mean it will have battery implications, so any app should do as little work as possible...

Unlocking A Tesla With A Samsung Galaxy Watch

I don't have a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, but my guess is you need a third party app. After all the phone key requires the Tesla app to be running :) As far as NFC goes, there are a load of different tags and security protections so you can't just copy a NFC key and my guess is that the car requires a...

Buying a Model 3 prioritise age or mileage?

What are you getting at that will show something different in the car? I said 305 miles from 310 miles when new and TM shows very slightly less and slightly more when new... This comes from the car in TM. I'm not saying capacities, as TM will be doing some calculation there.

Buying a Model 3 prioritise age or mileage?

How about this from Tesla Mate? https://photos.app.goo.gl/BjgkGy3xCdCuSGpt7 It doesn't quite match what the car says, but I can't be bothered to get the car out of the garage 🙂

Buying a Model 3 prioritise age or mileage?

My 2019 M3P is very low mileage, and the rated battery range is still 305 miles from 310 when new. Only DC charged once and kept below 100% except for trips. So I don't agree :)

I set 100% in the app for a journey but the car remained at 80% when I plugged in on arrival, so it was one time effectively.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

I was comparing 2024.8.4 on the way up M4/M5 to 2024.8.7 on the way back. Both late at night on unlit relatively empty motorways. I've had the indications, but never had the left swerve and they didn't happen on 8.4, although it had some phantom brakes. As it coincided with the keep right and...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

I also have 2024.8.7 on my 2019 M3P with FSD. Given navigate on autopilot now likes to jerk the wheel to the left while saying "keep right" when passing junctions on unlit sections of the motorway (dipped headlights due to a few on coming vehicles and not matrix), I would definitely say 2024.8.7...

    UK - FSD, Motorways, Regulation

Just adding my latest motorway experiences with my 2019 M3P with FSD running 2024.8.7. Basically just use distance keeping cruise control and avoid navigate on autopilot. Why? Because it was quite likely on the motorway junctions to decide to jerk the steering wheel to the left even when it was...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

Same here with my 2019 M3P after updating to 2024.8.4. It now shows offline rather than asleep and switches to online when the car wakes. So a "feature" of the new update when using TeslaMate ;)

    UK FSD Discussion

Tesla is actually using a combination of captured clips from the fleet (not just FSD) and simulation, as they can effectively ask all cars in a country to capture video clips of scenarios they are interested in. They also use shadow mode where the neural net can capture clips when it predicts...

    [UK] 2024.2

Technical rant mode on ;) As an Android developer who has been trying to get UWB ranging working since the Pixel 6 Pro, I can say that Jetpack UWB support is still only at the Alpha stage. At least I have managed to get ranging working to a beacon, but it's <2m range and suffers from...

    BBC Article - Tesla Whistleblower

I do wish they would compare phantom braking to the BMW i3 from 2016 ;) My Mobileye cruise control could be best described as braking when there is anything on the camera... sun; rain; parked cars; shadows... time to brake. You do get used to covering the accelerator though and of course there...

Should Tesla fully refund FSD owners in UK

I said yes as I have it from new on my August 2019 car, which I still have. However I would be happy if it was a transfer to a new car at any point, rather than their September one-off, as it isn't worth it over EAP... I am getting free premium access though, as Tesla had to give it for free as...

    TeslaMate [megathread]

I think it's likely that the move by Tesla to the FleetAPI is causing some problems, as the streaming API is a big change over what they currently use (and has a cost implication). I registered as a Tesla developer and moved my Android charging app / Google App engine code over (for me as none...

    [uk specific] Software 2023.32

Summon has stayed working for me on 32.4, but then I have FSD on a 2019 M3P and I am using an Android phone (Pixel 7 Pro running Android 13). Perhaps I should more accurately say that I paid for FSD, not that I will ever have it in the UK ;)

[UK] App offline? API seems fine

At least for me on Android, I don't see the T Tesla icon on the notification tray. This is a bad sign, as it means the background service isn't running, which might explain why I can't use my phone as a key. Update... I just tried opening the App again and the T icon has appeared, so I guess...

    Tesla Price Reductions

Except they aren't the same... The point of this 3 refresh is to bring changes to the 3 production line in things you can't see, so it is cheaper to produce and make it like the Y. It will switch to front and rear castings and a structural battery pack. At this point they will be the same and...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

If only they had a camera in the front bumper so they can see how close a car is ;) Basically they are replying on building up a model of what is in front of you as you drive forwards, which can't possibly work when you are stationary and something changes in front of you when the car is turned...

I managed to get it to go back to sleep. I had to disconnect the charger; turn off the Powerline WiFi extender in the garage; charger back in; Wifi back on. Now it's sleeping again :) Admittedly I also switched from Three 4G to Starlink, so perhaps it only likes sleeping with an Elon data...

Tyre Blow Out on 7 mth old Model 3 …. Not happy

I switched the 20" wheels on my M3P for 18" T-Sportline, as low profile tyres and pot holes (especially in Devon lanes) don't go well together. At least so far they have held up better after clipping kerb / rocks at side of road.

    What's your Tesla (origin) story?

I had an i3 ReX as an introduction to EVs. Liked it so much I decided to replace the 430D and was going to get a Polestar 3 in 2019 (even sitting in one at Google I/O having never been in a Model 3). However the Model 3 was announced in the UK to arrive before the Polestar... plus more gadget...

Phone key no longer working after update(s)

Phone key no longer working after update(s)

I'm not having to disable and re-enable Bluetooth, only start the Tesla app if the T isn't showing after a restart. Perhaps having the Wear watch active helps here. I guess the other thing I do is turn the phone off over night, so perhaps more restarts are good for Bluetooth ;) As far as battery...

    FSD. This should be interesting!

I'll have to keep the car until it arrives then. Three years and counting... Realistically I only ever expected it to work on motorways, not Devon lanes with sheep and have used summon out of the garage, but it won't go back in, as it's too tight. If I was buying now I'd just go for EAP ;)
  39. M

    FSD. This should be interesting!

FSD has route navigation, although you have to acknowledge the junctions now and Bristol M4 / M5 junctions are never handled well, so it's just lane changes, as long as it's not too dark when the car thinks that the B pillars are obscured ;)

Phone key no longer working after update(s)

I'm not sure if they did this on purpose, as it was around the time of the Bluetooth relay hack was made public, so it is possible they did it so a user has to make a decision to start the app.

Phone key no longer working after update(s)

Pixel 6 Pro running Android 13 working fine for me, but I use a Wear watch so Bluetooth is active. One thing to be aware of is that if you haven't got the T icon in the notification area then the key won't be active as the app isn't running in the background. Tesla made an update to the app...

Wiki Your first UK Tesla MOT? Checklist before the visit.

Given they can ask me to open it, that seems like I'll use valet mode... I can't see why they need to do that personally, as cars like the Mercedes EQS don't allow owners access. Plus will they follow the Tesla recommended two hands to shut? Dream on 😉
