    Fisker ocean - UK forum

There was a press release a few days ago about a dealership in Nottingham being appointed as a Fisker agent. It’s really weird - production stopped months ago and restart seems extremely unlikely, so I’m guessing this is just some cynical attempt at window dressing to sell off the remaining...

Of course, the UK GSM network is generally crap. That doesn't help.

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

Yeah, I agree. It's all really sad. I can't understand how the Fisker management could have let such a promising position turn to worms like this.

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

I see what you’re saying (and I guess that’s what convinced to take the plunge), but compared to the big German marques, it was still a gamble. There were legions of people at that time who thought Tesla would go under.

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

When I bought my Model 3 in 2019, I was very nervous about it. New company, small player, lots of new tech etc. But despite some minor software glitches, it all worked out fine and Tesla have continued to lead, by a huge margin, the rest of the market in software; whether that be features...

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

I spotted a thread on FB (Fisker Owners group) where people were talking of buying remaining stock at crazy knock-down prices - under £25k for the Extreme for example. But I think they’re mad given that it’s almost certain Fisker will fold very soon. Not only will the bugs above never get...

    Supercharger team sacked?

However you read this, it’s clear that it’s a knee jerk decision for the simple reason that there has been zero management of the PR fallout. And let’s be honest, the immediate reaction to the headline will be fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Are Tesla going to row back on the SC network? Will...

    Supercharger team sacked?

They must be absolutely mad to adopt this strategy. The major impediment to increased EV market size is the paucity of chargers. This will only lead to more negativity in the wider EV culture wars and depress market growth.

UK and Ireland Marketplace - For Sale / Wanted / Free

I don't find it complicated. My problem with it is that it's just not proving very useful. I'd hoped it would add improved access to features that are hard to get to on the main UI. But about the only thing I'm finding I actually use is the fan control. I'd hoped for a better UI to the...

What do you think of the Knob? I’m quite disappointed with mine and might sell it.

    UK Pricing piss take

I sort of agree. I lived in the US back in the 90s and the comparative £/$ prices for groceries and many other everyday items were much as today - but back then it was almost $2 to the £. Now it’s about $1.20 and that makes a huge difference. But some other things have also gone up like crazy...

    S3XY Knob Deliveries

Yeah, I agree. I'm cutting them some slack! They are doing some cool stuff for sure. I can see that reverse-engineering how the Tesla bus works and dealing with weird behaviour will take a lot of time. S3XY dial wouldn't half the snigger factor!

    S3XY Knob Deliveries

It seems you can access these new features from the buttons or from tiles in the app, but not via the knob. This is a common story - there is a much shorter list of actions available for the knob. I don’t understand why this asymmetry exists - it points to some odd design decisions. They seem...

    An interesting journey last night

I've sort of come to the same conclusion. We ran two EVs (Model 3 and ID.3) for a couple of years and managed, but there were definitely some compromises that I'd rather avoid. We now have a PHEV (A3) that gives just about enough range for my wife's daily use, but has a nice 1.5l turbo-charged...

    S3XY Knob Deliveries

Got the new release. They've fixed the temperature sync, but only via a circular route via the Tesla mothership and adding the Enhauto app as (another) linked app to my Tesla account. I assume what's happening is this: : Knob => commander => Enhauto phone app => phone 4G connection => Tesla...

    S3XY Knob Deliveries

Well, a few observations now that I've been using my knob for a couple of weeks: Installation Installation was very easy. No real issues. It went smoothly and just worked. Features First the positives: The knob is nicely built and fits very well into the car's interior. It works mostly...

    Battery life...

The displayed mileage on the title bar is not a guesstimate based in previous driving behaviour/consumption. It’s the theoretical range based on the EPA rated range using the BMS estimate of charge in the battery. If the number is falling it means the BMS thinks the battery capacity is...

    S3XY Knob (initial impressions)

I agree about the apparent asymmetry of actions across knob and buttons - why? No issues here with excessive deep sleep - the car wakes up as normal.

    S3XY Knob (initial impressions)

Got mine last week and installed it today. It all went very smoothly - apart from the AWOL white plastic clips on the mucket trims, but I can't detect any rattles or obvious slop once re-fitted so I'm not getting excited about that. As others have said though, the device is still light on...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

In general on my car, connectivity is way better than it was back in late Dec/early Jan, but it’s still suffering from random drops outs. I’ve noticed several times that connectivity can be lost even when the car is showing 3 or 4 bars of LTE signal. It all smells of mobile network problems to...

    New Highland UK - stalks

Whilst I feel pretty much as most people do about the loss of stalks (i.e. that it's a bad and unnecessary move), it's worth pointing out that: a) Hand signals are still a permissible technique to indicate a direction change. b) There is no standardisation on drive select and there are lots of...

    Fisker ocean - UK forum

The big problem of course is that the EV market overall is stalling. The weaker players will fail first. Fisker is just too early in its production cycle and having the all-too-predictable software woes. VW’s ID cars were a mess for a year after their launch with software problems. Even...

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

I've given up trying to fathom what AP is doing. It's erratic and not be relied upon. I still use it from time to time, but I'm always on tenterhooks expecting it to crap out at some random moment. And its behaviour today is significantly worse than on the 2019 Model 3 that started my Tesla...

OCTOPUS are an absolute (bad) joke - beware of dealing with them

I’ve had mixed experiences with them. It took them about 18 months and lots of chasing to install a 3 phase meter and at times I felt like pulling my hair out. I’ve also had endless problems with my billing being screwed up, including the electricity part being missed off entirely for a year...

    Creak Creak!

I don’t think its purpose is to stop water getting in given that it’s only on part of the overall aperture and that there is a much bigger seal further in that is surely the real waterproofing barrier. So, my suspicion is that it’s there for wind noise reduction.
  44. pdk42

Model Y suspension on UK LR AWD models

No one knows. I suspect if you look at the dampers there’s probably a part number on them, but it’ll probably need a disassembly to find it. From anecdotal evidence, it seems that the change cut in on cars from about March/April last year. I think if you go for something summer onwards you...

    Creak Creak!

The squeaking I’ve had is definitely coming from the outer rubber seal that presses against the upper outside left/right edges of the tailgate. I can say this with confidence because : - You can hear it by pressing down on the tailgate just above the light cluster when it’s closed. - It almost...

    New Highland UK - stalks

PPF increases the premium because the risk profile of people who wrap is higher than those who don’t. Of course, this is mainly influenced by people who use a wrap to do crazy colour schemes rather than protecting their paint, but it seems the insurers can’t be bothered to differentiate the two.

I did some towing in my car at the weekend and despite towing mode being on (blue caravan icon showing), the visualisation panel kept flashing up a truck right up my chuffer. I sometimes wonder if any of this stuff ever gets tested.
