    Ordering Process is Bunk

Simple solution. Don’t trade in, sell your car private party instead.

Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

FWIW, staggered wheels usually induces understeer.

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Getting my CCS retrofit scheduled now. It should help me get up to Ely via Virginia in the winter now that a Virginia supercharger seems a long way off.
  4. emiliorescigno

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Report back with how it goes! I was going to use some referral credits to buy a CCS adapter.

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Looking at 2023 MN supercharger data from supercharge.info, I made a little chart of when each SC that opened in 2023 was permitted and under construction, as well as days from permitted to open. Location Permit Date Construction Date Open Date Days Permit -> Open Little Falls 9/1/23...

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Nothing so far. Nothing on supercharge.info, nothing on Tesla's Find Us page. I think the closest one is the permit for the new SC in Fargo.

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Now that Worthington is online, nothing is permitted or under construction in MN, and nothing is listed as coming soon on Tesla's website. The sites available to vote on the current Supercharger voting cycle are: International Falls Grand Marais Virginia St. Cloud Lakeville Chanhassen My hope...

Which to buy: Highland SR or LR?

If you can’t charge at home: LR.

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

I know it won’t happen, but I can dream. Also, plenty of other cars with radar cruise have the ability to revert to regular cruise with the push of a button.

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

All I want is “regular” cruise control. Please.
  11. emiliorescigno

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Imo, the best indicator of Tesla’s intent are the options given for the quarterly supercharger voting. That would imply Virginia, International Falls, or Grand Marais in northern MN, and Lakeville, Chanhassen, or St. Cloud closer to the cities.

    Supercharger - Ames, IA

Yay! I've been waiting for this one.

Which Tesla? New Job/Hybrid/600 Miles RT

If sleeping inside the car and towing are of value to you, a Model Y is probably a good idea.
  14. emiliorescigno

Which Tesla? New Job/Hybrid/600 Miles RT

M3LR - it has the longest range, fastest charge speed, and best highway efficiency.

Supercharger - Worthington, MN - Oxford Street

Supercharge.info won't mark anything as "Under Construction" until there's some sort of evidence that construction work has started on site. So far it looks like only a permit has been pulled.

    Supercharger - Little Falls, MN

I have a CHAdeMO adapter. The north shore is fine (I go there frequently), but this trip is taking me to Ely, and the public chargers in Virgina are DOA edit: I should note this is a "I don't feel like dealing with it" more than a "I can't do it" situation. I've pushed the bounds of electric...

    Supercharger - Little Falls, MN

Agreed! I have a winter BWCA trip planned in the next couple months, and I'm debating taking an ICE vehicle due to the lack of charging infrastructure in the iron range.

Supercharger - Worthington, MN - Oxford Street

I’m waiting/nervous for V3/V4s to be overrun with non-Tesla NACS cars. Then I’ll run back to the empty V2s!

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

    This thread is comedy gold.

    Another Winter Tires thread

I'd go with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 EV

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Out of curiosity, why did you purchase your S if the stalks/wheel are arranged this way? Was it a "hopefully I'll get used to it" situation?

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

It's fine, I'll be around for however long this car lasts. The competition is even more incompetent than Tesla. :)

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

No stalks = no purchase. I guess my first TM3 will be my last one.

    Supercharger - Fergus Falls MN

This will make the drives to Fargo in the winter SO much nicer.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

If you want to be at the pointy end, A052s or RE-71RSes are the answer.

    Supercharger - Two Harbors, MN

Charged there yesterday. It was super fast (I pulled 257kW for a brief moment), and has nice overhead lighting tied to a proximity sensor. No pull-in stall location though, so I had to do my usual bike rack parking job.

What features do you wish the Model Y came with (Dec 2022/Jan 2023) Wishlist

1: The ability to disable TACC back to regular cruise control. 2: Navigate to 3rd party chargers/manual preconditioning. 3: De-nerfed dyno mode, or track mode that doesn’t hold you back so hard.
  32. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - Two Harbors, MN

@Python - I assume you use a CHAdeMO adapater as a just-in-case in Grand Marais? I've done the journey north to Thunder Bay several times recently, but I've always had a night's stay in along the north shore or some other charging stop at a park or restaurant. (Not out of neccesity, it's just...

can you supercharge in the rain? [ Yes ]

This is the correct answer. It takes quite a lot of energy to "push" the rain off the road with the tires.
  34. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - Tofte MN

I'm super excited to hear about this location. My trips to the north shore are going to get a lot easier!
  35. emiliorescigno

Holiday update? what can we expect?

What I want: a reversion to V9, hopefully with the ability to totally hide/shrink the driving visualizations. What I will get: more trash.
  36. emiliorescigno

    Nervous of new car sounds!

Humming, gurgling, and whirring noises while plugged in are totally normal. You'll get used to it.
  37. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - Two Harbors, MN

I stopped by today and saw construction had started. Talked to one of the workers, he said they started on Tuesday and that they should be done with their part of the work by November. Then it’s in the hands of the electric company.

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

Just looking at this, you know EVs aren't allowed in XA, right? :)
  39. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - Two Harbors, MN

I think it's going to be a very, very long time until you see anything non-Tesla faster than 50kW along the north shore. EA still has huge swaths of interstate to cover before they can even consider covering these more niche locations. And they definitely won't beat Tesla to the punch.
  40. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - Two Harbors, MN

There is already a CCS/CHAdeMO ZEF charger in Grand Marais.
  41. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - Two Harbors, MN

I go up to the north shore on a pretty regular basis, and actually see plenty of Teslas while along the north shore. Most of the bigger resorts and cabins have L2 chargers that get used quite a bit, but the two CHAdeMO chargers (in Lutsen and Grand Marais) are...flaky at best. I'm definitely...

    Tesla Needs on "Off button"

    1. There is a button to power off in the menus. Safety/Security/something like that. 2. There is an option to disable walk away door lock while at home.
  43. emiliorescigno

    Supercharger - North Branch, MN

I'm always excited for more superchargers, but yet another one with no trailer stall? I always hope to avoid Hinckley so I don’t have to do this…

    Supercharger - Bloomington, MN

Keep checking this thread and supercharge.info for updates. When it will be, somebody will probably update it. Or even better - check it out in person and post an update here!

Autocross- SCCA EV-X Class vs. SS

The rules for XA and XB specifically exclude electric vehicles.

    Charger location in garage

I recommend location C: The left-rear of the garage, closest to the charge port of the car on the left side.

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

I used that station last time I was up there over New Year's! It was broken, and made the trip quite annoying; and it took them a month to get around to fixing it. I'm waiting for Tesla to step in and do it right.
  48. emiliorescigno

Moving to Alaska with Tesla X

Expect 40-50% range loss in the depths of winter. If you leave it outside not plugged in when it's below 10F, expect to lose a few % every hour.

New update 2021.44.25 adds customizable app launcher like Model S refresh plus other major upgrades to system.

I agree wholeheartedly. The great irony is that the Model 3 is by far and away the best “driver’s car” in the EV realm outside of the Taycan. I like my Tesla because it’s a great car to drive. If I can’t drive it, what’s the point?
