Wheels and tires removed from a '22 Model S plaid when the track package was installed at the local service center. 9000 miles were on the car when they came off. Aero covers were removed to image wheel condition. 7-8/16th tread depth. No tracking or launches were done on these wheels and tires...
This thread is for the general discussion of the marketplace listing OEM 19" Tempest wheels and tires with aero covers. Please add to the discussion here.
That's what I was curious to know. I'd read the K2 Ferrari versions are lighter but with thinner treads. Those are the two options for the front sizes. Rears are FP Ford or AO Audi, for which I've found absolutely no info on. Waiting to hear from Michelin.
While we're talking about the wheels, for those who aren't planning to keep separate track and daily sets, what are people replacing the Goodyear's with once they wear out? I saw many like PS4S's, but wondering if some of the homologated versions would work better than the generics on the plaid...
The track tires are wearing down and the weather is cooling off too much for them to grip. I've seen many like PS4's. When I've called around most have OE versions for the sizes needed (Ferrari K2, BMW 5-series, and Audi to name a few). I know Michelin makes a generic version, but does it really...
does tred depth on semi-slicks translate to what we're used to on normal road tires? (no rhetorical, I'm genuinely asking) Seems like they came with pretty shallow treads. might still be useful to save for the track?
Am also interested in recs for 20" replacement tires. Clearly these won't last long between a few track sessions and a few months of driving. Thank God they got installed in the middle of the summer when there's no rain in sight. Seems like there are some decent options on tire rack in the same...
Anyone else get the zero-g wheels and have them showing up as 21" arachnids in the app/OS? am surprised they wouldn't have it baked into the software considering they're OEM.
Got to take a look at it before the wheels went on when I picked up the old parts today. Mentioned the reservoir cap issue to the tech. He said the BASF Hydraulan 406 ESI is DOT 5.1. Had trouble finding clear info from the manufacturer, but figure I'd pass along the info.
Didn't want to derail the track pack thread with this question, but...
does anyone have experience towing this car to the track. I'm concerned I'll get it there and push it till the battery is too low to get home. I'm only about 30 miles from my local track. Nonetheless, seems like it could be a...
curious to know how it does after the tack pack improvements beyond the wheels and brakes? am sure suspension upgrades are still crucial. what are y'all's opinions on the most useful upgrades?
am likewise wondering the difference in installation dates between just ccb's and the track pack. sounds like wheels, tires, or knuckles might be the hold up. might be why Europe got earlier installs (the included tires not being street legal there)
I'm also curious as when they start selling a >$200k car with the roadster. Each price point of the vehicles they sell are gonna have higher and higher expectations for build quality.
I had figured as much. TBH, the fact that something rattles doesn't mean its defective. Just seems like customer satisfaction, and thus retention will drop with policies like this.
just got pushed to 7/10!? They'd already moved me to 6/19. so they miscalculated the parts delivery date by almost a month? seems like they'd be able to nail this down a little more accurately these days
care to share? am wondering if they would have covered it but are using the threat of a charge to deter claims. love the car (obviously, am getting the track pack installed), but it's pretty obvious why their reputations dropped so much over the past year or two. they're gonna have a serious...
So... don't mean to complain but this struck me as odd. Got a '22 MSP, wellllll within the manufacturer's warranty. Taking it in for the track package installation on Monday. Mentioned that the plastic housing over the center screen hinge is rattling, and asked if they could check and fix it...
saw the teslari article that they sold out within an hour. wonder how soon they'll restock (or how available the ccb's will be), and what the supply / demand will do for the value that was previously crushed by the price drop a few months ago. might be a nice rebound.
isn't that event between corpus and San Antonio? hope they've got a charger nearby. one of my friends rented a RV stall for the high voltage hookup to charge for a track day over on my (west) side of the metroplex. might wanna look into that so you don't have to tow home.
many thanks. so that does make sense to me. the little pucks look like they have a small battery in them, and they're not necessarily integrated into the tire itself. will be interesting to see Goodyear supercar 3r's have this.
