    New Model 3 Performance news

after my delivery date changed to June 27th to June 30th, I wrote to Tesla that I'd be overseas until the 28th, they replied: "We are still working with estimates. In all likelihood, the date will slip a little bit once we account for possible delays at port"

    New Model 3 Performance news

Tesla responded super quickly. Victoria's car at least are on the TURANDOT. (TURANDOT, Vehicles Carrier - Details and current position - IMO 9070450 - VesselFinder) My delivery date got updated to June 29th to July 20. I hope it's not June 29th as would be in the plane back from Europe on that day

    New Model 3 Performance news

GIO quoted me $4400, they were the only ones even knowing about a performance model 3. I'm going to use novated lease for this cas, and the insurance (Vero Insurance which is also Suncorp) was $3200, and covered more than GIO (3 years for new replacement, covering the entire lease payment in...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

because there's no need to. Historical prices ($15) is the share price after stock split. It wasn't $15/share back then, it was $89ish (can't recall exactly now)

no, that's 2300 shares *today* after the split, I included that in my earlier calculations.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

when the model 3 was announced in 2016 for a price of "US$35000" I placed that sum in TSLA stock. 2300 shares. Can buy a few model 3 for free!

that's pretty bad ! My 2019 M3P is always around 3.35 at those battery levels.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

yes, Turbo as I wrote in my post. But the internal fitting is more akin to an S than a 3.
  14. jyavenard

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

This is 2.95s 0-60mph without 1ft rollout, 2.8s otherwise. Definitely quicker than even the new M3P. Not really the same budget though, that car is 3.5 times more expensive

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

If we are into graph. I don't have access to a 2024 M3P, but last night I had a drive of a Taycan "Turbo". Gosh it was nice. Now I'm more keen on a Tesla Model S than a 3. Unfortunately that car is no longer available in Oz

    New Model 3 Performance news

it's the whole point of the performance. I'd be pretty upset if they didn't
  17. jyavenard

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

that must be it.... there can't be any other explanation. And my SoC was rather low (65% I returned the car 30 minutes later with 55%). It's not just the acceleration from standstill that felt quicker. Quickly overtaking when I was already doing 90kph was even more impressive and significantly...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

speed limits here are 100kph only on the freeway, in the tiny stretch to enter the freeway next to the Tesla service centre, I reach 160kph. Mind you, cops and speed cameras here are everywhere. and anything over 130kph is an immediate license suspension

The Tesla service centre is in suburban Melbourne. No such thing around here

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I just did a test drive in Australia. The acceleration was brutal. My 2019 performance feel slow in comparison. Super impressive. I don’t like the carbon fibre bit on the dash. It looks like an afterthought and simply be glued on top. Feels cheap

Upgrading to a faster Intel Atom Chip?

They do not. THey use a E3950 https://github.com/lewurm/blog/issues/3
  22. jyavenard

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

The LR range is significantly more than the performance, and the LR is already a seriously fast car. That car makes a lot of sense to me
  23. jyavenard

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Personally, I like the look and I want what's best. Consumerism at its best. I can't really rationalise why I'm upgrading, my 2019 M3P is the most fun car I've ever owned, it drives well, gives me zero issue and I've barely used 10% of the battery rated life (done 168 cycles only)

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

considering what happened with the supercharger team, having a bigger battery that what's there now may soon be a necessity. You guys need to stop dissing the new M3P, I placed an order to replace my 2019 M3P, I'm still unsure, I hate reading arguments telling me I should have waited

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Having 20" wheels over 19 (or even 18) don't help 0-60 one bit, quite the opposite. I really wish there was the option to choose smaller wheels, while I like the look of them better, they aren't practical, too easy to damage and consumptions is much higher than it needs to be.
  29. jyavenard

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Aeero 18" didn't fit previously the performance, why would it fit now if the brakes are the same size? spacers are illegal in most countries BTW

Have you measureed them personally? Source?
  32. jyavenard

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

With the previous model, very few 18” would fit, plus the offset was different. TSportline makes really nice wheel that could fit. But there’s no information yet about the brake size on the new model.
  33. jyavenard

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

gosh it would be nice if they offered this everywhere else. Big wheels are nonsensical on EV (and sports car too, there's a reason why competition car use much smaller wheels)

Help me decide Model 3P or Model YP

IMHO, if it's the performance you want, the M3P is a much better choice. I wouldn't get a MYP, I would get the LR instead. The Y will never make for a good performance vehicle.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

considering the main advantage of matrix beams is that you can say in high beam for longer (and even stays full beam even when you have oncoming vehicles), I don't see how you could consider it better. In any case, the new model can't write Tesla :) Could be a software issue, could be hardware...

that's what was said for the previous models, and yet it wasn't true: all had the exact same measured clearance. I pressed the button for a new one, I'm a bit disappointed that my 2019 M3P Stealth had a better WLTP rated range (and it didn't even have the heat pump for heating)

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

2019 Performance. It shows 467km at 100% now. Tessie tells me degradation is 7.6%, capacity 69.4kWh, but I 've never relied on Tessie (or Teslafi for that matter) , only Scan My Tesla.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

i don't know either. Tessie uses 75.2kWh as original battery size, and shows 8.9% which was close to the Tesla service mode. I'm now happy to think that my battery is sitting at 71.5kWh, may not be correct, but it makes me feel better :)

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Talking to a Tesla "battery" tech, after I had raised a service support he mentioned that about 4 years old and older, all appear to flatten at 15% degradation and company-wide that's where it levels. And that my car was doing a bit better than others at similar age. He wouldn't provide however...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Has anyone noticed their reported range increasing over the last few weeks? My battery used to be around 68.5kWh (Australian model 3 performance stealth, made in USA). Now Scan my Tesla tells me it’s 71.1kWh (and similar report showing using the energy screen method). I haven’t changed my...
