    Factory shut down

We did exactly the same as SK, Hong Kong and Singapore during the initial stages in an effort to contain . It did not work ( probably because people just moved about more but it’s not clear why) . The herd immunity idea was not the original plan but part of this first containment phase ( and is...

    Factory shut down

Can’t believe I’m reading some of this... ok, so let’s say we carry on as normal and don’t close down the country . What would be the effect ? Well - the virus would spread at a much faster rate . No doubt. You would have a massively over subscribed intensive care situation in every single...

    Factory shut down

I do wish people would understand that the fact there are limited ICU beds ( in all countries ) , and the fact this flu will cause the need for those beds to far exceed that number available, is going to cause many , many people to die. Not just people with this virus but people having heart...

    Slow charging speeds

Odd, as that shows the charger is only offering your car 6a, hence the low rate. But it can’t be the charger, right, as you’ve tried it on another one as well ...

Generally agree , though if you buy 1 it’s unlikely you’ll be selling it over the CGT allowance :)

    Rear window view

Why don’t you just adjust the mirror ? Different people will have different opinions as to what view they prefer, so I’m not sure why seeing their view is going to help you ?

    Puddle Lights....

I stand corrected then. You are quite right. It’s just they are so weak they are as good as useless. I do think the OP was looking for ones which project a logo though .

    Puddle Lights....

No model 3 comes with them - having had puddle lights on cars in the past, you’ll think they are cool for one or two days and then you’ll just not notice them or take any notice of them.

What do you enjoy most about driving your Tesla?

That Taycan, which I assume he is referring to, does not simulate gear changes at all, it does, however, use a 2 speed gearbox which is actually a beneficial improvement and one I would hope Tesla would implement somewhere down the line. Single speed gearboxes have limitations which are pretty...

V2 of Track Mode coming to M3P

Help me out here... I thought the dual motors worked by the front motor having a specific output which drove the front wheels and the rear a specific output driving the rears ( two motors). Therefore, surely switching to, say 100% rear just means the front motor has zero output while the rear...

    Roundabouts and FSD

It’s incorrect to say there are no roundabouts in CA. Actually, there are and they are on the increase. The US have acknowledged that roundabouts have multiple benefits, hence why they are building more of them.

M3 washing by hand (2 bucket method)

Drying the car properly shouldn’t cause scratches as you shouldn’t wipe the car dry. Buy some large drying towels, lay them flat across the largest parts of the car , dab and then lift . For smaller areas just pat dry.

M3 washing by hand (2 bucket method)

If you dry the car off thoroughly then I’m not sure of the value of a DI unit myself. As far as washing, I’m a fair weather car washer too so have cleaned my car once in the two months I’ve had it. Looking forward to warmer weather - I might even get my DA polisher out then to clean up the...

You are quite right of course. I was being a little blasé having been the victim of a pulled API or two in the past.

UK - are you rotating tyres? + “servicing”

Garage which relies on servicing to earn its money in “get your car serviced” shocker... What he is explaining in regards to a Tesla is no different to any other car. The brake pads emit dust during use and, while most of it is driven out , some of it will build up around the caliper. As I...

And I would expect them to stare at them for a bit, have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat, then charge you an hours labour for the privilege. Seriously - it’s pointless.

About the same for me too. Meter installed on a Thursday, email appeared on the Sunday inviting me to switch over.

    Model 3 Leasing UK

Allow 3 months from the date of order - that’s the best thing to do. Leaseplan will have zero influence on the lead time and your car will just sit in the same queue as everyone else’s.

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

The off peak rate is 5p per kWh. That means your standard tariff is 13p per kWh. But the standard/peak rate on Go is around 14.2p per kWh, I believe, so I’m not sure how that is “considerably more” than your standard rate ?

    Stopping charge through the API

It is, yes. But don’t forget the idea of this code is to set the car to charge so it might not be awake at that point. It’s easier to code a generic test/set function than worry about whether it may already be awake.
  34. J

    Stopping charge through the API

Already do that. I check the state and , if it is not online, I send a wake up call and retest the state, only going on if the car is online ( done using a simple while loop )

    Stopping charge through the API

Update. Well, I unplugged the cable , plugged it back in and allowed the car to start charging, took out the charge_start call and the issue does not reproduce . In a way I am pleased because it never made sense that the charge_start call was needed. The only thing I did do before which may...

    Stopping charge through the API

I’m just running a test on my code to ensure it will work with a begin and end time then I’ll unplug from the car, plug back in and take the start_charge call out and report back with my test results.
  38. J

    Stopping charge through the API

I was also getting Result : True from the charge_stop call it was the open port call which was returning false . You need to check with the car that it actually stopped charging.
  39. J

    Stopping charge through the API

APIs are always unofficial as it makes it easy for the software company to pull the plug on them when they want. Despite the principle that the charge_stop call should never have a dependency on a charge_start call I tested your theory and you are correct. This time the start_charge calls...

    Stopping charge through the API

I’ve started writing an app to schedule charging at the times I want. My code logic determines if the current time is in the charge period and, if it’s isn’t and the car is charging , it makes a charge_stop call ( I want to be able to go put, drive the car , come back and then plug it in to the...

Considering the Model 3 and have a few queries.

Add in my own experience... 2. I would say you are looking at 210 mile max range at 70 mph when the temperature is as it is now ( 5 degrees or so) 4. The auto wipers are perfect for me. Never had an issue with them.
  42. J

    Model 3 scheduled/timed/smart charging

408 will , more than likely, be the generic REST 408 error which is a timeout on the request. That probably explains why you retrying it eventually completes. It could be a server side issue but then again you would expect it to be consistent across calls rather than just for the charge stop...

    Tesla charger install

The installers were somewhat negligent in going ahead and installing on a 50amp fuse to begin with. They should have noticed this. One of the very first things I did was to get my fuse upgraded prior to getting a charger installed.

Northampton supercharger - BE WARNED !!

Indeed - it’s simply an invoice. It’s up to the receiver of that invoice if they believe they have been sent it under reasonable terms. I would just ignore it. These people work on laws of average. If enough people are just coughing up the charges then they won’t bother going through the...
