    2024 Shipping Movements

I suspect my M3RWD Black paint and interior is/was on Morning Carol. My Licence Plate appeared on 9th Feb, VIN appeared on 16th Feb. Delivery scheduled for 9th March. If your delivery/collection is due before end of March but don't have a VIN or Licence Plate yet, it does not necessarily mean...

    2024 Shipping Movements

Interesting. So if Tesla deliver a 24 plate vehicle before 1st March, can it be registered for road tax and insurance?
  3. M

    2024 Shipping Movements

That is stage, as 24 plate can only be registered from 1st March. Maybe they’ll deliver on 26th Feb and ask you to not drive or insure it until beginning of March. 😂

    2024 Shipping Movements

So I’m guessing your license a 73 plate? Mine is a 24 plate. I’m keeping the 9th March home delivery slot. They’ve messaged me back with the following: The delivery has been booked for the earliest slot, the 9th of March. If you wish to change to collection, the earliest slot would be on...

    2024 Shipping Movements

Just had an SMS asking for confirmation of delivery address for 9th March. I’ve messaged back asking if I can have the car sooner if I switch to collection from local service centre instead of home delivery. I suspect it’s unlikely, especially if it’s in the shipment arriving in Southampton...

    2024 Shipping Movements

I have a VRN/License Plate number but no VIN yet for M3RWD UK delivery, which had ETA of 10th - 25th March. Just checked today and ETA had moved up a couple days to 8th - 23rd March. Presumably vehicle is still on MORNING CAROL even though it is now due to dock in Southampton on 2nd March (1...

Tesla cuts car prices by up to $5,000 in USA and China

Tesla has cuts Model 3, S and X prices by up to $5,000 in the USA and China. Cant see any price changes in the UK. But if the price reduction is to stimulate new car sales after the lockdown maybe we will see price cut in the UK soon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tesla cuts car prices by up to $5,000

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Oh did you set the car to start charging at 4:30am instead of 0:30am? out of curiosity what are you using to get the graph data for your electricity consumption?
  11. M

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Also we should take into consideration that we will have slightly different setups in terms of home charger and electric cabling at our homes that will impact how long it takes to charge our EVs. My SR+ charges at a rate of “34” miles added per hour via my Rolec 7.2 kWh charger. As a...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

I could possibly save a few quid over the course of a year with EDF, if I switched all my high energy utility usage such as laundry and rush washing to after 9pm. That plus the fact I have a small set of solar panels that generates around 1000 kWh per year would mitigate the higher peak rate...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

I just plugged in the above rates into my spreadsheet and worked out that Octopus Go is still the cheaper option for me. See below. Note I charged my car (from 50 to 90%, which was around 20 kWh of energy from the grid) on 2nd March during Octopus Go off peak hours. All costs include daily...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

I’ve found that I’m able to add 60% of battery charge in 4 hours. As I set my max charge to 90%, I make sure I charge my M3 before the battery charge drops below 30%. I have the M3 scheduled to start charging at 0:30am when plugged in, and I leave it to charge to 90% and have seen that the...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Thanks @Mark_T It was this post by @Roy W. that had confused me. So just to clarify: the Octopus Go tariff is indeed fixed for 12 month. In my region the rates are: 25p standing charge 14.71p peak rate (4:30-0:30) 5p off peak rate (0:30-4:30)

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Follow up from my previous post and my actual electricity switch experience. My electricity was successfully switched over to Octopus on 22 February, right on schedule. I was put on to a fixed flat rate tariff initially. I was told that once the which was completed, Octopus would verify that...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

I have a Bulb SMETS2 smart meter which was installed back in June 2019. It has been displaying in the IHD since then, but Bulb had been sending emails asking me to submit meter readings each month since. I assume they were unable to take readings themselves. That was until January when the...

    M3 Efficiency -> Trip B

I do a 2 mile round trip school run in the mornings. Last couple of days I’ve not had to have the heating on and was able to get consumption down to 245 Wh/mi for both trips.
  21. M

    M3 Efficiency -> Trip B

My lifetime average trip Wh/mi has just dipped under 300. Only driven 1,100 miles since taking delivery on 9th November. Expect this to improve even more as we head towards the warmer months.

Oops the above quoted price includes “potential savings”. Actual lowest price currently is $10 shy of $53k

Model Y deliveries ahead of schedule

Also interesting notes. The AWD LR and AWD Performance models are now estimated to have 315 miles range (EPA), and increase of 35 miles from the previous estimate. The RWD LR has been removed from the ordering page in the US and other LHD countries where ordering was open. This means the...

Oh great. Maybe if we could just switch your main app page into full screen mode (unless you’ve already implemented that, not checked), then that’s good enough as we could then switch to the streaming apps from there. Edit: sorry just re-read what you said ignore the above. Anyway it’s a...

That can’t be right. I get price fluctuations. But they’ve basically quoted you over double the price for the alloys alone. £241.67 + VAT vs £491.67 + VAT

VW ID.3 Preview event in London on 25th January, fancy going?

I believe that this will not be the case. VW, Pod-Point and Tesco have partnered together to install these charging points at Tesco car parks. But these will remains free to use by all EVs. Tesco will pay for the electricity, VW and Pod-Point paid for the installation. Tesco hope to get more...

VW ID.3 Preview event in London on 25th January, fancy going?

So the event started at 11 and lasted until 12:30ish. We hung around for another hour to mingle and chat with Jonny Smith. The event itself was just a PR shindig, to repeat most of the things you can find on the VW website and elsewhere. They did have one ID.3 on show, but it was a...

    19” sport wheels - £1450 option

Note that many people identified that the long delays in their orders were due to ordering with the 19 inch wheels. Not sure if this will still be the case. Tesla do also sell the 19 inch sport wheel as an additional set, should you wish to purchase them after delivery of your M3. I was quoted...

Good example. But the Intercontinental isn’t really situated at a shopping complex. Also I went there on Friday and the car park was 90% empty. I guess the £15-25 parking price is quite a deterrent.

Fuel cost for running my SR+

The energy use/cost for sentry mode and preheating is probably irrelevant for my comparison as I don’t know of any ICE vehicles that have these features, and the use of these features on a Tesla are purely the owners choice.
  47. M

Fuel cost for running my SR+

Yes it’s something I’m thinking about. Need to assess my entire home electricity usage to work out if it’s worth while at this stage. On average our usage is 250 kWh to power the home and 100 kWh to charge the M3. Also a bit put off by stories of long delays in getting the Octopus smart meter...
  48. M

Fuel cost for running my SR+

Valid points for sure. But even taking them into account, I can’t see the real consumption being any more than 350 kWh max. So £45 in home charging. Also I think I’m being quite generous about the ICE efficiency in my comparison.

    Holder, Creeper, Roller?

I have my profile set to Hold and never change this. On my old LEAF I used to have the ePedal on for single pedal driving, but would always switch it off for multipoint turning and parallel parking. This was because the ePedal breaking was too harsh and the jerk forward when applying the...
