Charger etiquette, what do you think?

She was parked next to a Tesla destination charger, not in the marked space. The car was locked. The charging flap can be opened from the charger lead. No harm done but be aware that you can be plugged in by others.

Charger etiquette, what do you think?

My better half was at the local shopping center in our M3 the other day. She drove around to check if any of the 4 charging spots were available. There was some issue with who was first to the only remaining charge spot so she let another non Tesla into the spot and parked along side. When she...

Universal Mobile Connector (UMC) in Australia

I would not go on holidays without my mobile charger. I have had a M3 since 2019 and have used the mobile charger many times when away from home.

    2019 M3 SR+ compared to 2023 M3 LR wh/km

I have now had my M3 LR two and a bit months and have driven 3200km. Not a lot but maybe enough to do a quick consumption comparison. I had my SR+ for three and a half years, covered 51,000km at 147 wh/km driving around Sydney's northern beaches. Also had a trip to and around Tassie and many to...

Upgrading our SR+ to LR 2021 or LR 2022( 82kwh).?

I sold my 2019 SR+ and purchased a new M3 LR. Delivered in March this year. Same reasons as you. The tyres have the same profile and the ride is the same. Dual motors mean better handling. The new car is quieter and has a better finish. We went for the white interior, no regrets. Buy a new one.

    My Tesla experience

All Teslas were built in Fremont, Califoria, prior to Giga factories in Shanghi etc. I agree that fit and finish is better in my 2023 M3 LR, Shanghi, when compared to my 2019 M3 SR+, Freemont. The Fremont one wasn't bad by any stretch but the 2023 is better. As it should be 3 years on.

    Model Y RWD sound system

I'm 74, hearing at this age is not what is was at 18. I was happy with the sound system in my 2019 SR+. The sound in my new 2023 LR is better. Clearer mid range. Can be VERY loud. I lowered both the bass and the sub woofer level from the factory setting. If sound is important to you, listen at...

    2019 SR+ to 2023 LR comparison

My daughter has a Jan 2023 M3 RWD. A very nice car. Very efficient. Low noise levels. I was amazed at the distance she can go compared with my SR+. Doesn't quite have the same level of composure on the road as the LR. Is the LR worth the extra money? For me yes, for others, it's your choice. I...

    2019 SR+ to 2023 LR comparison

A few observations now that I have my new 2023 made M3 LR. White, with white interior. 18 inch wheels. My previous Tesla was a 2019 M3 SR+. It was white with black interior. 51,000km at 147 wh/km. New set of tyres at 47,000km. Upper control arms replaced under warranty. The LR is very bright...

    Hand over to private buyer

Have sold my 2019 M3 SR+ to a private buyer. Change over is in a week or so. Teslas are not normal cars. What do I need to do before the new owner drives away. My question is about the car not the money.

To trade or not to trade

Carsales instant offer is $38500. The highest dealer offer is $41000. Many around $38000. The Tesla offer is looking OK. I think used Tesla values, especially 2019 SR+ M3s, are going down. If no one is prepared to give me $47500 it's off to Tesla. No hassles that way.

To trade or not to trade

One week on from my initial post, so here's the news. Tesla has offered $42000 trade in for my 2019 50k M3 SR+. This is for a new LR. Originally, back when I placed the order, was thinking $40000 would be OK. None of the "instant offers" have been this high. Put the M3 on Carsales for $47500...

How much does maintenance cost for Tesla Model Y/3 in Australia

To trade or not to trade

Hi I ordered a M3 LR in June 2022, to replace my 2019 M3 SR+. Will arrive, so tesla says, between February and May 2023. I am thinking that there must be a number of you who had early year, 2019 -2020, M3s who have either gone to a MY or a new M3. Tesla has yet to give me a trade in value on...

New M3 LR in 2023, what to do with my SR+

Hi to all Having ordered a new M3 LR, due 2023, some questions arise re my December 2019 M3 SR+ with 47000km on the clock. I don't need, or want, 2 cars. I wonder what the trade will be with Tesla come 1st quarter 2023? I am astounded at the prices being asked for M3s on Car Sales. I would...

Best Way to Get Rid of the Old Non Tesla Car

How does trade in with Tesla work? I have a 2019 M3 SR+ and expect a new M3 LR sometime after Feb 2023. Do Tesla want my SR+ now or when I take delivery? I only have one car. Has anyone sold or traded a 2019/2020 M3 SR+ lately?

    New M3 LR

Hi Just placed an order for a new Model 3 LR. No mobile charger included. Got both the wall charger and the mobile charger with my 2019 SR+ included in the price. I was offered the chance to add the mobile charger at $550 but none in stock so no go! I will sell the SR+ with the mobile charger...

    Black or white interior?

Hi Have my finger over the order button for a new Model 3 LR to replace my 2019 SR+. White exterior, like our SR+. SWMBO likes the white interior. Our SR+ has black. Does the white present any problems re dirt, reflections etc. Thanks in advance. Greg

    Model 3 used prices

Hi A quick look shows that 2019/2020 Model 3 SR+ owners are asking around $70,000 for their vehicles. Are any being sold at this price range? Seems a bit high to me. Cheers Harryd

    New tyres make a difference

A quick message on my new tyres. After 45014km I have replaced the original tyres with the same Pilot 4 Sports. $485 each, gasp, but what a difference. Very smooth ride, less, much less, noise, steering better. I know the car would have been like this when I picked it up but.... I do wonder if...

Practical kilometres in a M3 long range

HI Thinking of changing my 2019 M3 SR+ for a new M3 long range. Can anyone give me an idea of the practical freeway range of a 2022 long range M3. I know there are many variables but it would be good to get some info from people who actually have the LR. Thanks in advance. Greg

    ARENA/NRMA national fast charging network

Installing and maintaining a nation wide high capacity EV charging network would result in many highly paid, skilled jobs. Many, if not most of these jobs would be in rural areas. I don't understand why more is not made of the economic benefits of EVs. I haven't paid an electricity bill for...

    Squeak/groan from front of M3

I now have our non groaning M3 back. New UCA on both sides plus other work on front suspension and on some cable bundles. All done in one day and under warranty. First time with tesla service, very pleased.

Tesla no longer including mobile charger bundle?

This is a very bad move. I used the mobile charger quite often when we went to Tasmania. Never use it at home, have a HPWC which came with the car. I would never go any where without it in the boot. Not good.

    Squeak/groan from front of M3

Hi I have a 2019 Model 3. It has just developed a squeak/groan from the front left when going over bumps and seems worse when moving the steering wheel. Anyone else had this. I will contact Tesla service and see what they say. Cheers

A Sydneysider thinking of a holiday in Tasmania

I see a future problem with all these Teslas on the road. When I got mine ,Dec 2019, there wasn't many around. Now there is a lot more. Remote charging is going to become an issue I suspect.

    LG home battery

Thanks for that info Punchbuggy. I have LG panels and a SolarEdge inverter. Did you have to change your inverter for the Powerwall? The Powerwall being AC and the LG DC. I noticed you are getting "returned the pro-rated cost". Do I assume this is not a full refund? Regards Harry

    LG home battery

Hi All I know this is not a home mini generator site but many of you have PE and batteries at home. I have an LG RESU10H battery which was installed in October 2018 along with my 7kw PE system. To my surprise in July 2021 the capacity of the battery was reduced from 10 kwh to 7.5kwh. LG says...

    Sydney Harbour Tunnel Autopilot test

Always make sure you are in the center of the lane before engaging Autopilot (steering). If you are not in the center of the lane you soon will be after engaging Autopilot. If you are to the left in your lane the car will move to the right to get to the center and vice versa. I wouldn't use...

    SR+ after 2 years

Now at 37,000kms and at our daughter's place, Canberra. Still enough tread for about 5k I would think, but I am starting to consider new tyres. Probably stick to the originals. I do not roar away from the lights etc. I did once or twice when the car was new, but now I don't need to. Nothing to...

    Good wh/km ?

Another excursion to Canberra and back to Sydney's northern beaches. Topped up at Goulburn on the way back. 110 wh/km from the super charger at Goulburn to home. Stayed on the speed limit except for a couple of 125km/h bursts to avoid being caught behind overtaking trucks. Had the air set at...

    SR+ after 2 years

Do I need a LR? No. Would I like a LR, yes. If I was purchasing now with the lower prices, stamp duty etc it would be LR. It's not a case of need, as we all know, it's all about want. Especially at my age, 73. Model 3s had just gone up in price before I placed my order in Sept 19. Much cheaper now.
  42. H

    SR+ after 2 years

The SR+ is not as heavy as the LR, so lower wh/km. I don't like giving the state government money by paying fines so 110km/h or less for me. Air con at what ever is comfortable.
  43. H

    SR+ after 2 years

Yes, I can get to Canberra, just, without charging on the way. But we usually stop at Goulburn on the way for a tea and coffee. From Canberra to home is downhill so I get home with about 40km left. We usually take a round about way home so again stop at Goulburn.

    SR+ after 2 years

My thoughts after 2 years with our Tesla Model 3 SR+. Delivery 11/12/2019. First a few stats. 35,000km 147wh/km Original tyres still good No warranty issues I can drive from home, Sydney’s Northern Beaches, to Canberra where my daughter lives and back and not touch the brake pedal once...

    Riddle me this...

TMC is a very good forum for different ideas. So riddle me this: Why do people buy black cars in a hot and sunny environment like Australia? This applies to EV and non EV vehicles. Why do people, especially 4WD diesel drivers, sit in their vehicles at lookouts, beaches etc, while idling? I...

    SR+ Adventures (Continued)

Hi again from the Sydney Covid refugees. Back home now but I have something you may find interesting. We drove out from Orange to Ophir. More adventures in our SR+

There are 4 points where a jack can be used to lift the car. The pads fit into these lifting points to protect the sub frame and battery. They are used only for jacking the car. I keep them in the boot. You will find them on the internet. They are not expensive.

    More adventures in our SR+

Hi again. Long post this, but may interest those who like to get away. Some of you may have seen my previous post on a trip from the Northern Beachers of Sydney to Tasmania via the Spirit of Tasmania. This trip started on 9th June 21 and we are still not back in Sydney. Covid refugees. Drove...
