    Supercharger - Tyler, TX

I've given up on trying to figure out the BMS. I just drive and enjoy it, usually in <>200 mile chunks. My trip from DFW- La Plata, MO - Union, Ill - Beech Grove, IN - Chattanooga, Atlanta, NOLA and home was a joy, and I didn't really think about it. JFTHOI I kept a log of predicted and actual...

    Supercharger - Tyler, TX

Yeah, it can get a little pokey there. I remember being astounded at the blazing speeds when the first Hwy 75 in Dallas opened all 11 stalls. Hard to believe it's only been a little over 4 years. On Sunday last, I peaked at about 110. I was in B1, B2 was open, there were 3 others connected. I...

[Solved!] Cabin Overheat Protection not working when car sits

400 degrees? Where did you get that figure? Perhaps for an instantaneous effect, sure. The long term effects of temps from the 130-150s cannot have a salubrious effect on any plastic/organic matter, however. The same outgassing issue occurred in my MIL's Olds. It was left for years in New...

Oregon to New Orleans? WOW! Sounds like a great trip. Post a trip report one day, please! And when you get to New Orleans, don't forget to stop at Bud's Broiler. I'll take a #9 and a #2 both with onions. I always bring a couple back to Dallas for my wife, too. They nuke really well. I'll take...

    Cabin Overheat Protection

"Normal behavior"? My vehicles, alas, live outside. They are items of convenience, they are tools. I have been driving for over 60 years, and have left items in my automobiles for my convenience and utility and shall continue to do so. In previous vehicles, I have sheltered items, protected them...

    Supercharger - Waxahachie, TX

Is there a pad located in proximity to the system? It may indeed not be immediately adjacent, although a long run of 480V at that current is not that desirable. There are stories of high power transformer supply issues nowadays.

    Cabin Overheat Protection

That may be true, but anything else in the car, the plastics and fabrics will appreciate not having to endure those temps.

    Cabin Overheat Protection

Put in a service ticket. This is a failure. At the moment you DO need to reset it each day, though, it will not engage unless you have driven it in the last 12 hours. I haven't documented how long it takes since the last drive. Stupid design.

    Cabin Overheat Protection

There's a similar thread elsewhere here, but certainly, ANY vehicle parked in the sun with windows up, etc . will see an inordinately high interior temperature and rather quickly. I have recorded temps of over 10 degrees in my Model 3s here in the Dallas area on even partly cloudy days. I did...

[Solved!] Cabin Overheat Protection not working when car sits

I fain would disagree. the interior of the car, mostly plastics, will outgas at those elevated temperatures. Even if you are a non smoker, ever wipe the interior glass and see you have removed a film? That's the outgassing of the synthetics in the car, outgassing is accelerated in high heat...

    I've always wanted a Model S.

    What hurts your eyes?

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

------> Another reason not to buy French cars. Or aircraft, for that matter... -------> Where do you drive that you never need to use the horn? NeverNeverLand? Precisely. The Center of the wheel doesn't move, so you always know where the button is. Same for turn signals, wipers...

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

Interesting idea. I have a near terminal case of doordentophobia, and if there aren't any HC spaces available (they are wider and have safety zones), I will park in the boondocks and use my cane. What the hey, I need the exercise. I have not yet had the intestinal fortitude to try the Summon...

Yes, but can it seek out Handicapped spots for me?
  15. drdumont

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

Great. Now to operate the wipers you use a hand and then the screen. That ain't "simply". When before, a button press and done. Fishing around for a button to honk the horn? The last time that was tried was the late 40's Fords with the horn button down on the steering column. Stupid, stupid...

    I've always wanted a Model S.

There is absolutely no comparison between ANY Tesla and ANYTHING labeled Nissan. You would give up a car with over 250 miles range, Supercharging, and an American band made in America? There is simply no reason to consider anything from the Sons of Nippon rather than a Tesla.

Be prepared to meet resistace from the property owners. Many, many of them are going to try to charge you for overstaying your welcome. I will be on AMTRAK from San Antonio to Dallas that day, from 0700-130ish. Should be interesting.

Can I share a charger and have my neighbor bill me?

You can get an inline watthour meter from Amazon. Read the meter when you plug in, read it when you discharge. Consult the bill, determine the price per KWH, do the math. Might also share a litle in the fixed cost, all the add on crap you get on your bill in addition to the usage billing...

    Counting Teslas while you drive?

I had the first red Model 3 in my town, North of D/FW Airport. If another drove through, I would bark at it. One fine day a new one was parked at a local supermarket, I drove by and barked at it, and to further annoy my wife I said I was gonna <ahem> mark my territory on it. She was not amused...

    Supercharger - Lindale, Texas

On Saturday, 9 Mar, the first two on the East side (closest to I-20) had the nozzles draped over the support. I took the HC slot on the other end and got up to about 115 KW. I presumed that when the dispensers have an issue they call The Mothership, but the website and my car did not report any...

Why do you like your Tesla?

I thought it referred to polarity/math. I used it in making Radio Frequency calculations for directional antennas. That and square roots of negative numbers. Ah, I guess we can leave this alone before the Admins get huffy about being off topic. Late edit - I hauled out a very old HP calculator...

Why do you like your Tesla?

The way I look at it, the more users of S/Cs, the more will be built. Here in the Dallas area, except for the S/C on 75 North, I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes, and it is rare to encounter a full house.

When you bought your first Tesla?

Studied, researched and sorta drooled for a couple of years. Saw a Model S <2014??> sit in my parking garage for 7 months before we learned it was a repo. Had I known, I could have bought it on the cheap from the bank. 1) Knew no one with a Tesla Got a lot of ribbing from co workers about my...

You can not dispute errors- because it’s always in Teslas favor .

Your points are spot on. I would really like to hear more of this... The two times in four years I have had a beef with Tesla have been dead ends - --- You promised me my car today, where is it? "Ummm... well, there's been a delay"... Rinse and repeat for a week. Admittedly I'm in a...

Why do you like your Tesla?

We are pretty much of a mind, except for the yoke. Calculators? I remember trying to get my head around Reverse Polish Notation (BTW, that has nothing to do with the wonderful country of that name). Nowadays, for me, it's Dell computers, HP Printers, and Android all the way, natch! Before I...

Not charged for a supercharger visit, but no reason listed.

I've charged on several brandy-new Superchargers right after they opened. On a couple of them I never was charged. Likely due to the "newness" of the system. I've had a couple of no charge instances on the road. Never seen "late charges" come in. I figure it was just my all around charm and good...

Tesla Energy and $25 flat rate overnight charging

I am getting messages on the Tesla app exhorting "Tesla Energy" - Powerwalls, etc, and $25/month flat rate per Tesla overnight charging. This appears that you change your power "supplier) for the entire house. (Example, in North Texas, ONCOR is the power generator and delivery company, but you...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

EA got a well deserved bad reputation. I'm not aware of any recent reviews, maybe Out of SPec will do another. The one local EVGo at the Walgreens has a pretty good rep, but is seldom used from what I see. We now have 30 SuperCharger spigots within 5 miles here in the Northwest Dallas suburbs...

    Supercharger - Waxahachie, TX

Waco? Nope. Just CSB. Which, when open, DOES have a deli/sandwich shop. At least in Lindale there is a 24 hour convenience store about 100 yards away. Since the area is really dark and lonely at night, I just stop on the way out.

    S3XY buttons at Abstract Ocean

An automated reset of the nag? I think that would be as stupid as the weight on the wheel or any of the other subterfuges. Tesla would likely block that command on the data bus, at a minimum. The railroads did away with the "Deadman's Pedal" when people were placing weights on them. Now you get...

    Supercharger - Abilene, TX

Great news! I tried my first Tesla experience with a TURO Tesla from Dallas to Abilene in 2020. Nearest charger was Cisco. Learned all about cold weather, range management, overnight battery drain when the owner leaves Sentry mode on. Thank goodness the RV outlets at the Civic Center loading...

    Supercharger - Shreveport, LA

While my hat is off to this location for being the first Supercharger in the area, it is really dodgy at night. Phone as a key stopped working suddenly (April 2023)

Check to see if there is a setting to allow certain apps to run continuously, which may have gotten changed. This happened to me in my Galaxy Android phone. One of the more knowledgeable Tesla service guys walked me through my phone, he had had the issue previously.

    Supercharger - Metairie, LA

About 10 years ago, there was a Model S which sat for several months in a reserved area in our parking garage. I knew little of Tesla, but after it disappeared we found it had been a repo, and "hidden" inside the building. Then we found that since it was bricked, the repo guys put dollies under...

Can I share a charger and have my neighbor bill me?

You might see if any of the KwH meters have a logging feature. Mine doesn't, and it's been so long since I fooled with it, I don't remember which ones do. Looks like you will have to settle for logging use times.

Can I share a charger and have my neighbor bill me?

I have the same issue. I got a reasonably cheap KwH meter from Amazon. Very easy to install upstream from the charger. I put a clipboard next to it and we record the start and stop numbers and go forward from there. Some have logging functions. You can build a spreadsheet and let it do the...

Phone as a key stopped working suddenly (April 2023)

That was my issue with the Samsung Android phone. There was some abstruse setting that appeared to use Reverse Polish Notation (HP calculator fans unite!). I actually had a phone conversation with a Tesla service rep who pointed it out to me. If you can't get aholt of Tesla by voice, go to your...

Phone as a key stopped working suddenly (April 2023)

I never leave home without a key card. I use the phone app ( which with the latest Android update on my Samsung, the problem went away) for day to day operations, but there is always a card key handy. Did you carry a spare key to your other car?

Dead pedal - dead in 2020

My wife got a 2020 M3 SR+, and there was no Dead Pedal aftermarket accssory for it. I bought one from Ebay for the Model Y, IIRC. As there is no tubber (non fabric) "dead pedal" area, I just used double sided tape. It's stayed there sice March of 2020. Check with Abstract Ocean, they might be...

    Supercharger - Ruston, LA

Skipping Shreveport is a good idea, especially after dark. It is in a very sketchy place, at the outskirts of a moribund shopping center, and at night it is really lonely. Before Natchitoches opened, I had to use it in the early AM, and twice had people cruising slowly by. I turned on the...

Tech Support Hansshow Model Y 7.5 Rear Screen

There's cheap, there's inexpensive, there's expensive. None of these three equal quality. Hansshow has a pretty bad rap overall. I'm sure there are folks with good experiences about which we never hear. But the stories of the horror shows are indeed legion. Where there's smoke...
