My parents have a 2016 Model X in the 6-seat configuration. They are really frustrated that the second row seats don't fold down, so the car doesn't have nearly as much storage/cargo room as they would like.
Do the currently Model X's have the same issue? (or did Tesla maybe change it so the...
I kinda wish I went with the coilovers instead, if only because then I could have kept the stock height (and still gotten the softer ride). Of course, they cost significantly more... As far as ride quality, though, I'm quite happy with the mild lowering springs.
Hi @PNWLeccy, sorry for taking a bit to reply. My VIN is 001576... so it's a very early one, built late December 2017.
I have the Unplugged Performance Mild Lowering Springs on the car now, and the factory springs are in storage so I can't take a look... But I pulled up the service records for...
I had a clunking sound when going over bumps at low speed... see my comments earlier in this thread - Which Model 3 springs for a more comfortable ride?
It wasn't UP's fault -- it was just that it revealed the underlying issue. Tesla replaced my front coils and that solved it.
Hi @jpatrick1821 - So... at the moment I actually don't have the mild lowering springs on the car anymore. What ended up happening was that there was a clunking sound in the suspension when I would go over bumps at low speed. Unplugged Performance did some troubleshooting, but they couldn't...
We've got the Long Range RWD - VIN 1576, so it's an early one...
I've never felt like the ride was "jiggly" - it was too hard and stiff, and I'd describe the feeling of going over bumps more like "jostling" instead. Like the whole car would stiffly bounce, because the springs were too tight or...
Finally got my @UnpluggedP Mild Springs installed today!
Before I even left the parking lot, I became a very happy camper! Bumps in the road no longer jostle the car as badly, and the ride overall is noticeably smoother. Driving back from Hawthorne to Santa Monica -- especially on the bumpy...
I think the most important thing is to be nice, and not demanding. Explain what the car feels like, tell them you're disappointed and it seems like something is wrong, and definitely mention that it's very different than the car you test drove. I'm sure they'll at least be happy to look at it...
@dfwatt - I've driven with a service tech, yep. I've asked several times at the Centinela Service Center about any further suspension improvements, and each time they tell me that the "fix" they did back in March was the only thing on the books.
I don't have the car today, but I'm pretty sure...
@Msjulie Ha! ...or it could be that Tesla has continued to change the suspension. When did you get yours? Do you have the newer seats? I think they have more padding, so that'll make the ride feel a bit softer too. :)
@AltLogic & @coleAK - Thanks for chiming in re: springs not doing much for ride quality. That's quite a bit different than what I've read, both on the sales pages for these products (of course) and also in some anecdotal reports on these forums from folks who have changed out the springs on...
Yep. If I let a bit of air out of the tires, say down to 42 or 43 PSI, that helps a little...but of course that will decrease efficiency and increase wear on the tires. So I'm hoping to find a better solution. :)
We have an early Model 3 (RWD, LR - delivered in January), which had an extremely rough ride quality. We had "the suspension fix" performed by Tesla back in March, but I'm still not happy with the ride quality... It's still too harsh and bumpy.
I'm looking at the various spring replacement...
Hey @Randy Spencer thanks for sharing that.
I'm definitely able to charge using the 3-way splitter, but it is also quite slow.
Also... I just saw on the Jeda Wireless pad website this FAQ - "Following the V9 update that Tesla released, both USB’s currently charge at 7.5W – which is what the...
In my conversation with the rep. at Tesla, he said all orders placed June 25 or earlier would honor the $4k price. I know they increased the price to $5k during that week (hence the cutoff around the end of the month), but I don't know exactly what day they changed it on the website, sorry...
Glad to hear that worked for you, @SSonnentag !
I've been assured by the person I've been emailing with on the Executive Care team that if you purchase for $5000 they will refund the $1000 within 30 days (for people who ordered their cars before June 25).
I'm about to pull the trigger on that...
Correct. Everything closes fine. You won't even tell there's a spacer in there, unless you look closely from the side, like in my first photo...and even then it's so subtle I threw that yellow arrow on there to make it clear in the picture. ;)
Ned at Skyline was kind enough to send me one of their Case Friendly Dock Adapters to test out. It's a simple design that sits as an insert between the base and the coverplate/lip at the bottom of the tray. Pretty slick, and definitely worth getting if you have a large phone case.
Since I've...
Doesn't seem to matter... though I plug the hub in to one of the two front ports, and then plug one charging cable into that and the USB memory stick. Then I connect one of the other charging cables directly to the other port. :)
It worked just fine.. wasn't crazy-fast charging, but it does increase the charge even when running Waze. You'll be just fine -- and if you do find you need a faster recharge at some point, you can simply plug in to one of the rear charge ports for a little while.
I've since switched to the...
I received my Jeda wireless charging pad last week. Super easy to install and it works (and looks) great! Problem solved. ;)
(If your phone doesn't have wireless charging, you can add it with a $17 part... something like this.)
Of course everyone knew the price would go up -- because they told us! They said the price would be $4,000 later instead of $3,000 now. For current buyers, they're saying the price will be $5,000 later instead of $3,000 now.
It hasn't come to fruition. No new features have been released. Elon...
No new features have been enabled yet, though.
The home-buying analogy doesn't really hold up. The "feature set" that they've been selling hasn't changed (and again, still isn't even available). If they were to add new features in addition to what we were told we'd get at the time of purchase...
Tesla has always been confident in their ability to create the self driving system, so I don't see why that factors in at all.
What is actually motivating me to purchase the $4k upgrade now is that I watched a friend configure her Model 3 earlier this week, and I noticed that they told her it...
Technically, it's probably with Tesla's right to charge us $5k now, even though they told us it would be $4k. However, that would be really lousy customer service at this point...less than six months after delivery, with no change in what that upgrade actually gets you (which, at the moment...
I agree that prices don't stay static, but only to a point. If we were talking years, not months, later -- or perhaps even after any self driving features had actually been released -- that would be a bit more reasonable. But at this point, nothing has actually changed, so there should be no...
We took delivery on our Model 3 on January 3. At the time, we were told full self driving would be $3,000 at purchase, or $4,000 after delivery. I know new orders are $3,000 now/$5,000 later, as I just watched a friend configure a couple of days ago. (Had my choices been $3K vs. $5K, I would...
Zip-ties? Puh-lease! ;)
(I used to do theatrical lighting, and there was a lot of rigging involved... so hooking up some wire rope is second-nature to me...)
It's not the HPWC, it's just the UMC with the standard 14-50 connector. The cable that's hanging down is the cable that's attached to...
Thanks @GregRF ! It's not an issue at all to have the UMC hanging there -- the first trolley picks up the slack of the cable, so it's not like the entire weight of the cable is pulling down on it. I'd say it's got no more weight/pressure on it than it would normally have if it were plugged into...
Our driveway has a tight turn, so backing in the 3 (to get the charge port near the wall) isn't a good option (and the driver's door would be too close to our work bench, making it difficult to get in and out). We also have to zig-zag back-and-forth a few times to get into the garage, often...
Let Tesla know this is important to you! Go to https://www.tesla.com/teslaaccount then log in, and then click the "Manage" button next to the pic of your Model 3. Then click "Ask a Question" and fill out the form to let them know you'd like them to improve the USB media playing issues. Be sure...
I have the same issue -- the source seems to always go back to my phone when I get back in the car.
And, now that the source selector has been buried behind a tiny icon (requiring two taps, not just one), it's even more annoying. I just emailed Tesla (using the "Ask a question?" option in My...
It's totally possible with a ~50 minute stop at Kettleman City or Harris Ranch. I drove Santa Monica to Palo Alto in March and planned on doing just that, but as I was approaching Gilroy I had to pee so badly (and I wasn't sure what my charging situation would be at my hotel destination) that I...
If three (forward-facing) cameras -- plus radar and ultrasonic sensors -- can't see well enough in thick fog to drive, it seems to me that a human probably shouldn't be driving in those conditions, either.
Hot damn, they broke 2,000 last week! No capital raise needed this year!
Tesla Q1 2018 Vehicle Production and Deliveries
PALO ALTO, Calif., April 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Q1 production totaled 34,494 vehicles, a 40% increase from Q4 and by far the most productive quarter in Tesla...
Does anybody here think they actually produced 500 cars on Thursday?
What's most worrisome is that if the negative sentiment continues, failure could be due primarily to the Golem Effect (if that's the right term?). Tesla is finally on the cusp of "breaking out" into being a mass-market...
