Front vs. back charging? Big impact on towing horses.

Plugshare should have a filter for "accommodates trailers." I've noticed numerous CCS/Chademo stations that seem to have plenty of room. But many superchargers don't.

Front vs. back charging? Big impact on towing horses.

Is the CT charging port in front or back of the vehicle? If in back (similar to Y, S, X, etc), that's going to be a nightmare at Superchargers if towing horses. You can't disconnect your trailer to charge with animals inside -- they will shift around and mess up your tow hitch mount. A lot of...

    Xcel Discounted Charging Program Report

The economics of Xcel's program is interesting. If you buy the charger outright, you still pay $6.68/month. But what is that for? So that Xcel can get more information about your charging habits, and lower your charging rate at certain times? Should Xcel pay YOU for that, instead of vice versa...

    Schedule Charge Start Time?

Scheduling is only possible in the car, but it would be really nice to enable that in the app.

Metallic rubbing noise coming from the brakes.

Very similar experience. Right rear brake has twice made a scraping/metal-on-metal sound. It sounds as if the parking brake on that wheel wasn't disengaging properly. Multiple switches between Park and Drive didn't resolve it. Then, after driving a few hundred meters, the sound goes away. My...

    Experience with Juicebox?

Anyone have experiences -- good or bad -- installing or charging with a Juicebox? Some specific questions: 1) Evidently the Juicebox app lets you set the charging percentage. That must only work with dumber cars (Leaf?); surely it won't override the Tesla's max percentage set by the driver...

    Trailer Hitch, Very Limited Room

I agree it's tight, but I didn't have trouble with the hitch pin. It goes in from the right side, and pin "key" goes in on the left. Trimming the panel clips is a great idea. After taking mine on and off a dozen times, many of those clips are broken anyways....

I love driving in snow! Regen braking seemed to turn off...

What the OP describes totally happens to me every time I leave my house. Regen is strong going into a turn/switchback, and then disappears, and the car accelerates on its own weight downhill. Then, strangely, 10 meters later, regen comes back. I got used to it. A few weeks ago, a software...

    WTB: Chademo adapter (North America)

Interested in unloading yours? I'm in Washington state, doing a road trip soon to Boise -> Reno ->SFBay. It's the Boise/Reno leg that's in a supercharger hole.

Supercharger Easy Search by Amenities App/Website?

I totally want this. Also, just as Plugshare has crowdsourced info on charger availability (particularly Chargepoint, Greenlots, etc.), it would be very helpful to know where restrooms are closed, cafes are closed, etc. With coronavirus, many of these amenities are shut....who hasn't relieved...

    Model Y rodent damage?

For ICE cars, a mechanic told me that turning on cabin air recirculation before parking helps prevent rodents by closing off an access point. I try to leave my MY's recirc on before parking, but I don't know if it actually stays shut after leaving the car.

    Model Y rodent damage?

I live in the country. Those little mice are no joke!!! A neighbor had $4.5k damage to a Subaru from mice, and another had $12.5k in damage to a Prius! Those little bastards!! I try to use peppermint oil and those bags of odor repellant. So far no issues. Correlation isn't causation...

    Charger EnergyStar rated?

Campsite experiences: is 14-50 or TT-30 more common?

What are people's experiences charging at campsites or RV campgrounds? I've seen TT-30, but I just realized that's 120V, so you'll have a much slower charging speed. 14-50 would be awesome, but I haven't been paying attention at RV campgrounds to know how prevalent it is. Thoughts?

    Should I buy CHAdeMO adapter?

I'm going to do a road trip coast to coast in November. The route has plenty of Superchargers (mostly interstates), but I'm thinking it might be beneficial to carry around a CHAdeMO adapter just in case we stop at shopping centers, etc. and have some time to kill. Electrify America's network...

CT had better not beep at me when door is open & seatbelt not clicked in

My guess is summon will behave strangely when going off-road (i.e. pastures). But in theory, it would be epic if Cybertruck would drive itself from bale to bale, and snake back and forth across the pasture.

    Keycard cracked, vehicle stuck

Got a ride back home, but the Model Y is stuck at the trailhead ~15 miles away until the wife gets home from a trip. Related: When you order new keycards from Tesla ($25), are they factory-paired with my Model Y? If not, I'm guessing the car needs internet so the fresh keycard can be paired....

    Keycard cracked, vehicle stuck

I honestly have no idea how the keycard cracked. It was in my saddlebag. I've done it many times, and I'm not a crazy MTB rider! No spills or anything. Those keycards are brittle!

    Keycard cracked, vehicle stuck

No, the keycard is primary. There are two ways for your phone to unlock: (1) You and the car have internet access, which in this situation, I didn't and (2) You can authorize your phone by sitting in the car and pairing the keycard with the phone. But that requires a working keycard.....

    Keycard cracked, vehicle stuck

Walked half a mile to get cell service. Can't do much but wait until the spouse returns. Next time, I'm definitely authorizing my phone to unlock as a backup. And buying the fob, which hopefully won't be as brittle as the keycard.

    Keycard cracked, vehicle stuck

I'm a new Y owner. Got myself into a bind. While car was locked, my keycard was cracked partway through (I was mountain biking...). The keycard is now inoperable. AND there's no cell service where the car is parked. AND I didn't authenticate my phone beforehand. So local Bluetooth won't...

    Range efficiency with heat pump

I'm in a cold climate and just got MY. I'll be glad to report on it this winter (but it's 90F now!). One of the key reasons I went for the MY was the heat pump. We have a lot of 20F-35F days in the winter and I didn't want a massive range hit. A friend with a Nissan Leaf says they see 40% range...

    Tow Hitch (Factory) Waiting Room

The extender was necessary for mine -- an old Rhode Gear I bought from a friend for $40. Here's an example: Rhode Gear bike rack, black steel | eBay The Rhode Gear involves pivoting/rotating the arms that hold the bikes from the "closed" position to the "open" position. That rotation would...

    Tow Hitch (Factory) Waiting Room

For bikes, I bought a 8" extender for the 2" receiver. Needed more room to prevent the bikes from scratching up the back. Works like a charm. The rear sensors only make noise when in reverse. Forward driving is no problem though. I don't know how to enable trailer mode....It's not in the...

    Tow Hitch (Factory) Waiting Room

Got mine last week. It's a 2" receiver. Already working great for bicycles; haven't tried actually towing with it yet. I had no problem using a screwdriver to pry off the panel. I just worked it a bit on all four sides, then pulled it off fairly easily.

CT had better not beep at me when door is open & seatbelt not clicked in

I've totally done that with a friend's diesel pickup in LOW four-wheel drive -- it's like an ICE "tractor mode" :) I would have no problem signing a lengthy hold harmless agreement that says "I AM NOT AN IDIOT AND WILL NOT SUE ELON FOR REMOVING NANNY FEATURES WHEN IT'S MY OWN DAMN FAULT"

At what point does the Tesla app become functional?

I was also confused by this. When picking up, you have to go to the Tesla WEBSITE to click "accept." You can't accept from the mobile app. Once you accept, login again on the mobile app, and your vehicle will appear there.

    How to preheat?

About the "scheduled departure" -- you can only do that from inside the car, correct? I don't see anything in the mobile app to set a schedule.

    PNW Delivery?

Hmm, no, that's unusual from what I've heard. Most people get the text to schedule delivery. Once I scheduled my delivery via the web (for tomorrow!!!), I also got a call confirming the date/time, whether I was trading in a vehicle, etc.

    Covid 19

I called the Bellevue, WA Service Center in April to see if I could "jump the line." I said I had heard that people weren't taking the cars now that the pandemic changed their economic circumstances. The rep said "Really? That definitely hasn't been the case from what I've seen."

CT had better not beep at me when door is open & seatbelt not clicked in

I use a truck for things like gathering firewood and hauling hay for horses. THE MOST ANNOYING THING would be if the Cybertruck beeps at you for driving with the door slightly open, or the seatbelt not engaged. Sometimes you need to repeatedly get in/out of the seat, and the seatbelt is...

    PNW Delivery?

    1) Bad news for you....it's 10.3% sales tax (for pickup in Bellevue at least) 2) I didn't trade in, so not sure 3) I was not charged RTA. Based on my address that will appear on vehicle registration, I'm in Okanogan County which is definitely not part of the transit district. Re: tow hitch...
