    2023 HW4 Model X Front Door Issues

Hmm. I’m a Y owner pondering an X switch and this gives me pause. I can see how X owners would be frustrated.

    2023 HW4 Model X Front Door Issues

If you turn off the automatic drivers door functionality, do you still have to use the motor? In other words do you still have to use or fight the motor in the most manual mode possible?

All driving assist features disabled in cold weather on model Y

Strange. I’ve driven a lot skiing in Colorado and have never had this happen. Even at -15C or so. Only thing that happens to me besides regen is ice buildup on cameras and sensors sometimes.

Cold weather airport parking lot experience

Maybe this is useful for you or maybe not. Parked the 2020 Y (around 20K miles) at the Denver Airport for 10 days. Temps ranged from around 32F at dropoff, to -24 at one point, to 50, then back into the 30's. 63% battery on 12/18 when parked the car. 24 hours later, it read 53%. I contacted...

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

No. the end of the wiper kind of springs up and hits the plastic piece my finger is on when it leaves the 'parked' position. The part where it actually wedges itself is a little further up from my finger.

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

I have a similar problem. It doesn’t hit the hood in my case. The end of the wiper on the outside hits a plastic piece.

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I’ve not seen it close. That said, I’m not. sure anyone, from skimming the web, really understands how it’s supposed to work so I probably shouldn’t worry about it.

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Got mine back from SC today with the expected super manifold and compressor replacement . Noticed at end of service a software update to 44.30.7 was happening but I thought I already had that. Anyways Got in car and error was still on screen but went away shortly. Then drove home in -5C with...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Mine had the sensors replaced in November and then my failure started 2 or 3 weeks ago. And my heat still hasn’t completely died while waiting for my appointment. Handled skiing in -17C yesterday.

Did you guys check out Quick Bandit - Model Y license plate mount | 1975creations ? I went with that one. It seems to mostly sit up above the grill so hoping no similar problems.

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I could probably answer this myself by looking at the modes in that video but I'm feeling lazy so I'll ask here. If the kind of failure (VCFRONT_a531) we're talking about has happened and the compressor is functioning in 'degraded' mode or not functioning at all, does the software try and use...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I don't know enough about the details but seems sensible. I've never had problems in Colorado before with excessive noise or heat problems but I'm also not often the one driving the car when it's below 0F outside so perhaps I wouldn't know one way or the other. I have gone skiing several times...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Do Heat Pumps Work in Minnesota? - GreenBuildingAdvisor talks about heat pumps like Fuji that avoided aux heat down to -10F. I get that there is a limit that's perhaps exceeded at certain latitudes. If -10F (or whatever the math says is realistically possible given all the math and conditions I...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I get the frustration in the moment but do any of you guys that are advocating for resistive heating really think that's a good idea long term? That stuff is a range killer. Heat pumps are the future for houses. Why not cars too?

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

In my case it feels kind of odd because I never had heat pump problems before (including -12 C w/ snow) until this error (which arrived before the problems). It's almost like an attempt to fix someone else's problems via software bricked my heat pump that was previously OK :) @rypalmer is that...

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

50 amp downsize complete. I wish I had a torque screw driver extension though that could easily reach the square breaker screw without hitting the plastic. Eaton breakers don’t make it easy. I nearly strip the screw out every time

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I'm in Colorado with a July 2020 MYLR and the heat pump has always worked great. Yesterday got a VCFRONT_a531 error. The SC's estimate says they are going to replace both the compressor and super manifold. That seems intense. The heat is still working somewhat (I'm not sure exactly how 'bad' it is).

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

Plus even if an electrician is liable, a fire isn’t fun for anyone.

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

This sure doesn't make it easy to get that 50 amp breaker (HD and Lowes are the same) ! I'm hesitant to buy a critical piece of gear from a fly by night Amazon seller too.

Brand new Model Y no heat!

Maybe I'm lucky but I've never had any heat problems, including < 15 degrees while going skiing from Denver. That was on the 'old' sensors. Tesla service proactively sent a message wanting to replace them with the new ones. Had that done in November.
  41. D

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

That probably is the best move. Now technically if someone wanted to use a 55amp (peak only) device on this circuit, a 60 amp breaker would be valid and appropriate. It's probably best though to downgrade the breaker and make the future person explicitly upgrade the breaker than the current...
  42. D

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

That may be a viable option. I haven't gone back to change that yet. I just put a label on the disconnect I installed by my wall connector explaining the limit and why. I guess the only reason not to downgrade to 50, if available, would be if the breaker doesn't like sustained load (have no idea...

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

Just to add to the confusion here, I ran 6 AWG NM-B for my Wall Charger. That said, there is no 55 amp breaker available for my box. I'm 99% sure there is NEC rule (430.52 maybe?) somewhere that says you CAN upsize your breaker to the closest available (60 amps in my case). Initially I thought I...

Clayton was a life saver compared to doing this trip before! Now I just have to watch that 80mph range degradation. "Why should I pay for your gas? I'm not paying for anyone else's gas"

Another thing to me that hangs over these sort of arguments, but doesn’t resolve anything, is that ICE cars already benefit from so many externalities not paid for. We’re all paying for that “gas”. I think if all the costs were on the table (carbon pricing in the US at least), it would be...
