Looks like you recently sold a reservation...what steps did you take? You must've been flagged. For what it's worth, I successfully took delivery on a Model X via a reservation I purchased here.

My EDD was Dec 6 - Jan 13 and all of a sudden I get notified the VIN is assigned and ready for pick-up. I'm guessing it was a reject - hopefully not due to defect with the actual car. I can see people not taking delivery due to the shift in the economy or the holidays coming up.

I've heard that Step #3 could trigger some Tesla algorithms to detect that the account has been transferred and the order could be canceled. That said, I don't think there is actual evidence of that. Not sure.

I think if you have enough jacks you can do it. A lot of pros that paint calipers are mobile. They come to your house and do all 4 at the same time. They bring multiple jacks.

Yeah. I actually ended up buying mine from Invisible Mask as they'll price match. It is a 10-year warranty.

I'm using 3M Scotchguard Pro and it has a 10 yr warranty against yellowing, bubbling, cracking, etc. Of course, the warranty is if you get it installed by one of their certified installers. I'm not worried about the yellowing. If it's quality film like 3M, Suntek, Xpel...you should be fine.

Sharpie was fine, but I'd have to reapply after washing the car and stuff. Wasn't a long term solution. I used some 300 grit sandpaper to just get the rough spots down. And yes, I taped off the rash spots and spray two coats. It was a closer match than sharpie.

I'm in the process of doing full front and fenders. After I'm done, I will do a ceramic coating on the entire car, including areas with ppf. This is a common practice from what I've been reading.

Ideally, you want it the other way around. Ceramic on top of PPF.

Nice post. In my opinion, ceramic coating is a fairly straightforward DIY as long as you have the right tools (clay bar, DA random orbital, one-step polish, microfibers, a covered area, etc). Adams offers a nice ceramic kit for $100 which lasts 3-4 years. AvalonKing and CQuartz are popular ones...

How long did it take you to get approval after submitting your documentation? OP - your utility company may offer a rebate. SCE is $1,000 and PG&E is $750.
