    Powerwall 3 Roadmap - 3 Phase Coming!

The inverter is the part that converts DC to AC, so it would make sense for the inverter limit to apply to the total amount of AC generated, which would be house + export but not including charging (so in your example, 3kW house load + 8.5kW export).

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

There's no point worrying about the ROI anymore - it's now a sunk cost, so just work on minimising further costs going forward. 18c/kWh seems very good for a flat rate.

Personally I agree that the LR is the sweet spot - I wouldn't go with the P unless I was planning to take it to the track.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

It should go back to the finance or lease company, since if you just get it as cash that's effectively untaxed money. Then they have to figure out how to reduce the cost of the package to suit so you get it back. However, it seems like in the past people have just been quietly getting the...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

The VIC-NSW interconnector was constrained down to zero flow at the time, likely because of transmission constraints in southern NSW that mean the power can't actually get to the big load centres further north. (This is what HumeLink is supposed to fix). Frequently that interconnector runs...

    Evie EV charging networks

It tells you the times and the rates in those same pictures. Variable rates doesn't mean "can change at any time to any price", it just means that the prices vary over the day, but still particular prices apply at particular times.

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

Yes, that's bluetooth and is used to unlock/lock the doors, open/close the boot, drive the car, open/unlock/close the charging port and I think now it can also control charging rate, stop charging and control the climate control. These operations that work directly over bluetooth will work even...

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

The AEMO pre-dispatch only has that spike lasting one half-hour period (the prices on either side currently being 30c and 40c) so I would expect it to vanish before then.

That site doesn't have variable pricing yet (the text about variable pricing is just boilerplate that appears on every site, for some reason). Look up the Hornsby site if you want to see how a site with actual variable pricing appears.

Adding a Tesla Gen3 Wall Connector as a product in the Tesla App. Why is it

You do have to add the new phone as a phone key for the car, though.

There's pluses and minuses. NSW can get more of the very high feed-ins, but it also doesn't tend to get the regular strongly negative prices that you mention earlier either.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

The wet towel will actually cool it down, as well - it work because the water wicks onto the towel, giving it a large surface area in contact with the air, and as it evaporates at that water/air boundary the latent heat of evaporation cools the towel and handle down. It's the same principle as...

Tesla Australia WAiting room (Perth WA)

The VIN allocations in the past have appeared to be a somewhat manual process that takes process over a period of days/weeks, so if that is still the case then they might still be allocating VINs on that ship.

Ausgrid changing pricing for electricity grid access

If Amber fully pass this on it would just mean your feed-in value between 10am to 3pm would be 1.2c/kWh lower than otherwise towards the end of the month after you pass the 10am-3pm export threshold. Obviously would need some software work on their end, but after that it's just one more factor...

    Superchargers in Australia

The more usual way to do this is "all positions are spilled, anyone who wants to remain beyond date X must reapply for their job". You don't generally get to go home on a "paid holiday" as you put it, but you don't get separated either: in my experience of this you keep doing "business as...

Tesla Australia WAiting room (Perth WA)

Tesla only refunded you because the lease company paid an amount that included that $400. Those who purchase the car without a lease don't get the $400 back. It's non-refundable.

Tesla Australia WAiting room (Perth WA)

It really doesn't seem beyond the bounds of what's possible in contract drafting to create an agreement where the final value can be varied by up to, say, $100 without needing to be reissued and signed - just a notification issued of the final settled value.

Ausgrid changing pricing for electricity grid access

I think if you're the kind of person that might choose to optimise the placement of their solar panels based on maximum return, it's not too much to expect you to be able to look up the tariff structure proposals for your distributor. At the very least, the solar installers should be across this...

Tesla Australia WAiting room (Perth WA)

For it to be a "genuine lease" the $400 order fee has to be included in the cost base that is used in all the tax calculations and in particular the residual value. That's why the lease company has to pay it.

Ausgrid changing pricing for electricity grid access

Ausgrid's proposal for the 2024-29 regulatory period, where this is included, was submitted back in January 2023, two and a half years before it becomes mandatory. If anything I've thought that these tariff structure determinations are too slow moving - the process takes 18 months and then...

Dutiable value includes GST, delivery fee and order fee so it would seem that you do not receive the rebate in that case.
  35. C

Anybody have direct experience with Amber Electricity?

Yes - for the network fee, Amber are just passing through the NUOS (Network Use-Of-Service) charges from your distributor. You can look up your distributor's tariffs to see what that will be (I think Amber will put you on to the applicable time-of-use tariff at your distributor if possible)...

    Superchargers in Australia

Can we please stop talking about "renewable electrons" and "non-renewable electrons" as if it means anything? The electrons in the wire actually travel only at around walking pace - and even better, electrons don't move from one side of a transformer to the other - so none of those electrons...

You can definitely do that. Create a time-of-use rate plan that has Off-Peak from 12am - 6am, Super-off-peak from 11am - 2pm and use mid-peak and/or peak for the remaining times.

Canberra at least has a lot fewer of the "random traffic lane becomes turning lane" road designs and a lot more dedicated turning lanes.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The worst thing about driving in Sydney is bastards not letting you change lanes, which you need to do to avoid being railroaded into turning left or right where you didn't want to but it wasn't signposted until the point where traffic was already queued up to, or getting stuck in a lane...

I would definitely go the 32A circuit now if it were me. There shouldn't be any problem putting a 15A socket on it - the CB is to protect the wiring not the device. If they're suggesting a 5-pin socket, does that mean you have 3 phase supply?

    AGL’s “Night Saver Energy Plan”

The NSW/ACT region has now entered Administered Pricing due to the sustained high prices, which means the wholesale price will be capped at $600/MWh (60c/kWh) for at least the next week or so.

I don't think so, submissions are just an optional part of the process where interested parties can make their objections or support known. It seems to be still in the "buried in soft peat" stage of the process.
  48. C

    Charging Adaptors 101

Go for the heavier conductors - the price difference in the cable isn't much compared to what you're paying for labour, and it'll be less voltage drop. Really you might as well get a 32A circuit to give you cheap upgrade options later.

    Single Phase Charging Options

It doesn't seem like a good idea. They probably aren't tested to run that kind of heavy load for long periods, on a regular basis, and unless you really don't drive much and are religious about plugging in, 8A is going to be pretty marginal for recharging. Adding an extra set of pins & socket in...
