Tesla Failed to Send in my Registration

I agree with this except that as the buyer, your relationship IS with TESLA and not some rando 3rd party. TESLA owes the redress. So you're right, easiest to simply get the compliance process going because they won't ignore that, but it absolutely IS Tesla's problem. Outsourcing isn't an excuse.

Not the dummies. Bought off eBay in late 2020 / early 2021, but never used. Still NIB. MZOrange, which have been proven in multiple videos on youtube, etc. $260 + s/h (whatever class of service/add-ons you want).

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

One is inherently more complex than the other, and yet they can figure out everything they need to in order to be VERY CERTAIN of causation - which could include a disconnected electrical connection (whether PWS or other part). Not that this level of effort would be used on a routine traffic...

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

LOL o…kay. Um…how about you go google NTSB accident investigations. It’s amazing what they can figure out even after planes crash into the ocean and very little remains. This is hardly a generic “I know best” BS, but please acknowledge your own inadequacy and BS. What’s fair is fair, call it on...

Power Trunk Retrofit on Current 3s

Ah. I see. Well, I’m glad I have a 2020 then, because this is a feature I would hate to have to pay for, it’s really not worth it to me but I can see how others value it. Hmmm…on the height issue, my family members are 5 ft and under, and even the shortest one has no trouble at all with the...

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

Considering they can reconstruct rocket, plane, and train accidents exceedingly well, yes this can be easily proven to an acceptable level of assurance for the average car accident. It’s SO FAR from 1984… diminished compensation is also already a concept for seatbelt use (or lack thereof)…see...

The power trunk does not close faster than you can slam it.

No Proximity Chimes in 2023 RWD (no FSD)?

If it’s trivial they should have made it work first. Assuming the car sees everything at all times is stupid. How many of us have gotten those “camera not working” errors??

Power Trunk Retrofit on Current 3s

To each their own, but “not getting dirty” when touching a car is a real first world problem. I’ve never seen power lift / door be faster than manual for a common passenger vehicle. Safer? Yes, pretty impossible to pinch fingers. The only time it’s a real saver is power windows.

CarMax sold me a broken model 3?

Not worth getting stuck with the car and two companies pointing fingers at each other but ymmv. Mine would not.

Pickup owner's door hit my Model 3, Sentry caught on camera. What now?

If you have video evidence and can clearly read the plate, then a) it’s a hit and run, and b) he should pay for it. Even if you don’t end up getting it fixed.

    Extension Cord Sidewalk Push Back

Because 99.9% of the time they are not (in general). Practically speaking, few HOA neighborhoods will want a bunch of trellises all over the place to run the cord over the sidewalks. Very few neighbors are going to want to share the cost to benefit just one or a small handful - especially in...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Yes, but actions speak louder than words. Clearly more people enter into transactions for Camrys, so from an economics perspective...they're voting (literally) with their dollars.

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

So this quote and discussion IS diverging from the OP/thread intent, but... Honestly, it's not frightening. It's a bit sad, but this shouldn't "scare" anyone. There are standards for EVERYTHING. This is normal. Some are more "enforced" than others. They're not there so a bunch of people can...

I have found you can turn on the seats in the app and then turn OFF climate. The heating seats stays on.

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

Exactly. Not a NHTSA watcher here but I’d bet a tall coffee that the almost every member of the assessment team thought it was a good innovation, but this was not a refutable possibility so it carried the day. Tesla could probably have found a way to prevent it but decided it wasn’t worth the...

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

So I’m not NHTSA, I’m just saying the reports seem to suggest this line of logic and it does make sense to me. Yes it’s nit picky. Oh well. NHTSA’s recall safety report does not mention to overwhelming the car sounds in general, or via the stereo system, etc. I’ve read it, and it seems clear...

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

It’s both the same car and SAME speaker which in the case of an EV is substituting for the engine noise. I never mentioned wires, don’t misstate please. Long and short in 99.999% of cases of people playing music while driving their car, pedestrians and others hear the engine and/or feel the...
  30. V

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

Yes, the PWS played both sounds at the same time through the same speaker. Concurrently. That is altering the sound emitted from that device. It’s picky, yes, but not related to the separate speaker system in a regular car. Those do not actually modify the noise of the ENGINE. If you’re going...
  31. V

Boombox killed off - what’s next?

Being fully compliant but potentially negating the safety effect is understandably concerning. Yes, I agree it’s a bit inconsistent but most people do not use their car stereo systems so loudly that they negate their engine’s noise...and society generally accepts longstanding practices even if...

No more Tesla Lease autopay via online banking

So complain to your bank… just because Plaid offers a sub-par solution for your bank because your bank is behind the times…is not a good reason to torch them. They don’t have your bank login if you never gave it to them in the first place. That’s even more secure :) …and, btw, ACH mistakes do...

No more Tesla Lease autopay via online banking

Exactly. Setting up a bank account generally requires you pass the Know Your Customer (KYC) rules and I don't think any financial institution can setup an account that *might* have to report a 1099 to the gov't without getting your SSN. So... anyone's under any illusion that their bank isn't...

    Having second thoughts

I tapped into my hot tub junction box, which was on the back of the garage, for my NEMA 14-50 outlet inside the garage. It worked great. Ditched the hot tub a few months later anyway, we never used it. I gladly volunteer to go run family errands ANYTIME in the Tesla now. :) wife says it was the...

    Extension Cord Sidewalk Push Back

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

You can (and should) be ticketed for failing to stop. The fact that most of us adults use short cuts is not an excuse for them. We all (obviously) break the law with our rolling stops but that doesn’t make it okay. Nor does it mean that following the law puts the driver in front at fault. No...

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

Tell that to the family of the person who died because of a “trivial software update”... I do hope if you have a family they will find that excuse to be of little solace.
  40. V

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

That’s just it, that attitude will undoubtedly result in a software decision that will actually kill someone. It’s a bad attitude to have when approaching many things with severe consequences. It’s one thing if the polytopia game has a bug. It’s another when someone dies. No one ever resurrected...

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

The "savings" from giving up your Tesla (under Loan) for a Cheap, old car, paid off

Congrats, and thank you for serving (truly!!). This says more about you, though. There are plenty of people who do live above their means and end up without the story above to show for it. Clearly you were not one of those…but this path is not one that is reliably repeatable for most…whereas...

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

They’ve had tons. Recalls are not a new way for government to torture companies, but a longstanding way to force them to do right by you (the consumer) and other people on the road. “The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (originally enacted in 1966 and now recodified as 49 U.S.C...

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

Typical business practice. It’s the cycle. What was once viewed as an important enough social construct (the dealer model) to be protected by laws is now viewed as a dinosaur.
  45. V

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

That symbiotic relationship is slowly dying. I have no doubt recalls generate other sales…parts, miscellaneous items, and yes even trade-ins and new cars…etc.
  46. V

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

I would presume that if it is not functioning as intended due to SOFTWARE instructions (like turning on or off at the wrong time, etc) then it’s a software problem. If it is mechanically problematic (e.g., suspension bolts not secured properly) it’s hardware.

Parking lot accident! Car recorded everything

For the love of everything normal, call YOUR insurance. If you were not in motion and he hit you, it’s his fault. Their job is to make you whole. Their job is to take care of your issues. HIS insurance wants to pay out as little as possible to make this problem go away. They will be underhanded...

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

Uhhhh nooooo… A hardware issue is, plain and simple, something mechanically or physically defective / fails early / etc. Like, the brake cylinder fails due to salt corrosion. Maybe repeated opening and closing of the trunk can break the cable that transmits the camera's image to the center...

How does the car know what the speed limit is?

Everyone's stressing over whether the car recognizes speed limits but I daresay most folks drive faster than the posted limits "once in awhile"...and others speeding down the road don't lead to this much angst. Societally, everyone's had more than $12k in education and yet apparently recognizing...
