Agree. There will be a lag but what you don't see since the announcement are newly permitted sites (a couple of "plan" entries are there). I suspect we will see a significant slowdown in all types of entries over the next few months.

My guess is NACS will be the standard going forward regardless of the pace of supercharger network expansion, but I dont know if any of the makes that decided to adopt it would save any money by reversing course. Luckily its now an open standard.

When our model Y goes out of warranty later this year we were planning to replace it with a new one but were considering other EVs as well. Now all options including gas have to be back on the table. The only option I wont consider is another Tesla as long as Musk is running the show.

Sounds like some bad luck for you on that trip. There are some states where SC coverage is still sparse so I always carry a CCS adapter, Wyoming is one (also the Dakotas, Montana). I've also encountered a non-functional pedestal on occasion, but it's pretty rare especially compared to CCS chargers.

Charged there twice last month got max speed both times. Since you had the same issue in Des Moines I'd say it's not an issue with the superchargers.

Using the usual 10 mile max diversion US2 from Grand Forks ND SC to Spokane WA SC is 1154 miles. If there's one longer than that I can't image where. There are permit locations in Minot ND and Kalispell MT that will cut that number down significantly if and when they open.

My guess is they will finish several hours behind. It doesn't help that the Ford team seems to be more interested in what fast food options are available near the chargers than maximizing efficiency. They do talk about how comfortable it is though.

All true but aren’t you charged for energy delivered by the charger not how much ends up in the battery?

$0.55/kWh would be very high for the Midwest but I don't think we know how many kWh were actually delivered. It appears the app is mistakenly reporting minutes billed instead of kWh delivered.

Colder temps do reduce range and higher speed reduces it also. Getting 2/3 rated range driving I94 at the speed limit in 45 degrees sounds about right. Fortunately there are now several superchargers between Madison and the Twin cities so it’s an easy route even when it’s much colder.

Look at his session in Menomonie. 4 minutes at a rate that is supposed to be charged when the charging speed is between 100 and 180 kW. 4 minutes in this range would be between 6 2/3 and 12 kWh, but the session details says he only got 4 kWh.

That looks wrong to me too. If I'm doing the math right (no guarantees there) there's no way the total power delivered should be less than 34 kWh.

Happy to see this one pop up, 78 mi from Sioux City SC and 107 from Grand Island SC will make the more direct route from the Western Twin Cities burbs to Colorado a bit easier. I'm not a fan of either Lincoln SC location.

Do what makes you comfortable, but you are costing yourself time. After several long road trips I use this easy strategy. If the next SC I plan to stop at is 100 miles away I aim to arrive at 10%. If it's 150 miles, aim for 15%, etc. If something comes up like unexpected wind or temperature...
