I can’t think of who will use this one. It is well removed from the closest store and not easy to get to from I75. One would not want to plug in and shop since you would at most charge for 50 minutes or so and then start accumulating idle fees.
It didn’t have a transformer last time we checked. The power companies have other things on their minds right now. I doubt if new builds are getting much attention. So yeah, Ian impacted.
A couple pictures from today 9/26. Transformer pad and charger cabinets in place. Pedestal concrete and conduits in place. No wiring yet. No activity at the site.
So there appear to be 16 Tesla stalls and as you can see the transformer has not yet been placed nor has the meter been installed. So we’re waiting for the electric company ( Teco or FPL?)
Swung by there on our way back from Key West. No visible work that we could see, not even any utility marker flags.
BTW , Marathon was busy both Southbound ( Tuesday, afternoon) and Northbound( Friday, morning)
In the picture you can see trenching to hook up the primary to the transformer and secondary wires from the cabinet. Also notice the area that was dirt in the parking spaces has been paved.
Just an update, when we were at the Magic Kingdom a month ago the Chargepoints that had been broken were all replaced with new units. Got there at 10am and were able to plug in.
As of today 4/25/2022, looks like the stations are all wired, SC cabinets in place and meter mount in place. Still no pad for the transformer and no transformer. I think the parking area will require new pavement since the area immediately in front of the stations is backfilled dirt.
So for travelers on I-75 this is going to be somewhat inconvenient. The WaWa is very close to I-75. Access off I-75 will be relatively simple. Unfortunately getting back on I-75 will not be.
Options are:
1. Take a right turn onto Clark Road ( left is not available) and make a Uturn at Honore or...
In the upper left , outside the fence, one can see the pipes sticking out of the ground where the transformer will be placed. Just below that is the concrete pad where the SC. cabinets will be installed. The SC cabinets are in the white boxes on the lower right.
I just drove by today. They are installing the pedestals. The base for the transformer is not in place yet. The base for the SC cabinets is in place but cabinets are not installed yet.
I’ll try to add some more pictures this week. I don’t like to take pics when workers are present.
Interesting, I was unaware that Tesla had Level 2 chargers with J1772 plugs, at least in the US. A first step towards Tesla charging for cars with CCS plugs?
So two pictures from today. One of the more unique installations I've seen. Looks like the transformer will be out side the current construction fence. At least there is some progress.
