    3G Phase Out

The MCU2 is a massive improvement for the Model S… I would definitely recommend the upgrade. However will be interesting to see if we get 4G or even 5G Capable Modems added.
  2. B

    Service Request Response Times

I'd certain recommend going down to 19 Square Rims.. I had staggered 21's when I first got my P90D and found shifting back to 19" Square improved ride quality and range. Much cheaper on Tyres etc also.

    CHAdeMO to CCS Adaptor

True.. Although I do sometimes enjoy pulling out the ChaDemo Adaptor for the Model S and seeing if it works ;)

Insurance Recommendations for 2024 Model 3 LR

They'll be more as the rates keep going up... Wish we could get Tesla Insurance in Australia.. something needs to give...

Insurance is getting out of hand

paulp: Might need to get a contact of your insurance broker :)

Insurance is getting out of hand

It does seem that the Insurance rates are rising as the Insurance companies have more data on accidents and written off statistics etc. Model S/X seem worse than others from my comparisons.

Insurance is getting out of hand

Just as a further point... If I was to do similar quotes with other EV's at around a similar value its completely different. For Example 2022 Jaguar I Pace 90000 Agreed Value $2000 excess comes in at $158 Inc GST 2023 BYD Seal $80,000 Agreed Value $2000 Excess: $115 Inc GST 2022 BMW iX $$90000...

Insurance is getting out of hand

I've been looking at options for my 2015 P90D Model S. Started around 3 years ago with CommInsure at ~$200 a month. Moved from CommInsure to RACV last year when they upped rates to around $350 a month. RACV Renewal is now around $320 Inc GST a month. Age 41, Rated 1, No Accident History last 3...

    057 Technology

He's still actively using his WK057 Twitter Link, which then links to Youtube which states that he's the owner of 057 Technology (which well may need a change!!) I would have thought he'd be inclined to clean this all up otherwise. This whole situation is potentially damaging to what has been...

    057 Technology

Mike: What's interesting here is that you would think if that occurred, Jason being as smart as he is wouldn't want to maintain an association between 057 Tech and his Twitter Link on the Website etc. That's where things get a little murky for mine. Either the Original buyer wanted to give...

Vendor Tesla Model S Battery Extended Service Plans from 057 Technology

I never got any indications from Jason about him being a grifter etc in that sense. His explanations and warnings to the community about the Cell Repair Business and Short Term Fixes etc were always on the money. Honestly probably the worst aspect of the apparent demise of 057 Tech as a...

Vendor Tesla Model S Battery Extended Service Plans from 057 Technology

It's interesting that the 057 Website is still up, with Jason Hughes personally Twitter Links all over it etc. Jason has been active on Twitter/X over the last 2-3 months, but almost purely in a Bitcoin related sense/interest. It seems all his time/efforts have swung behind this new endeavour...

    Cybertruck Waiting Room - Australia

The "Drive by Wire" System should make RHD an easier implementation than a traditional steering setup... so I'm still holding out hope. I've recently purchased a 1990 Corvette C4 LHD and driving this has made me realise that if push came to shove I could live with LHD on a daily basis.. Just...

Supercharger - Melbourne (South Yarra), Vic

This is interesting considering how close this is to Richmond… Wonder if Tesla is thinking about just consolidating to Mulgrave.
  17. B

    057 Technology

Let's have fun with this... It's obvious they've been purchased by Gruber... they are desperate to know how Jason Hughes worked on so many cars without the workshop catching on fire. I fully expect Jason to turn up shortly sporting some Dark Shades in a Promo Video :)

    Spotify interface question

Honestly in my Model S I find the updated Spotify App to be a backward step in terms of search/navigation etc. It's really hard to find things that used to be intuitive and easy.

Tesla charger Gen 2 or Gen 3?

That's a Gen 2... Not Gen 3.. Easiest option is to replace with a Gen 3... However you could also look at a TeslaTap Adaptor... Such as TeslaTap MINI 3-Phase

    BYD Dolphin $38,890

Will be interesting to see what they actually price the car at. EVDirect/Luke Todd don’t have the best record at keeping price point promises etc.. (And that’s as an owner of a BYD Atto 3) Cars seem pretty good however…

Extending the reach of a 10A home charger

I’ve used the Heavy Duty Tradie Style Cables fine… Basically a 15A Type Cable with 10A Ends/Connections is fine.

Big announcement on EVs & emissions standards coming from federal government this Wednesday

Well that might be welcome news in Victoria…. First with Dans EV Tax and still waiting for infrastructure spending on EVs… NSW is way ahead in that regard

    Selling Model X 100D

Just confirming this is Model X 100D (Not P100D) with 107,000km? Do you have a price in mind?

    End of Warranty Inspection

I'm going to be in a similar situation in Melbourne shortly with my Model S P90DL in terms of Drive Unit / Battery (2015). Would love someone to be able to inspect the Drive Unit Coolant etc for Leaks etc before Warranty ends.

As always... What are you looking for $$$ Wise?

    Cabin Air filter

When this happens on my Model S I just get a Ryco HEPA One and replace, however yours might be a bit more complicated. However Assuming you have a Model 3 of some kind, the Ryco Website Indicates an RCA417M to be suitable... https://rycofilters.com.au/part/RCA417M

Gen 3 wall connector “not permanent” install

Generally it's really only worthwhile to do this if you have the "Big Power Point" already available. If you have a Spa plugged into a 32 Amp Power Point or similar than it can be worthwhile. If you don't have that... Just as easily to get your Sparky to commission it into a 40A Circuit...

    Low Voltage battery replacement

Tesla will sell you the battery… it’s actually pretty reasonably priced when I bought one… around $200. Any other solution tends to mean bodying the mounting hardware etc….

High Mileage Model S/X Owners and Battery Degradation in Australia

Good Evening: Just wanted to see how the local community is fairing with Older Model S/X and Battery Loss over time. My 2015 Model S P90DL is at 199,000km now, and my Battery is down to around 71.5kwh Capacity (67.5 Usable). Basically at around 16% or so Battery Loss over that time period...

Returning to Melbourne with my Model S

If you were to import I'd just get the CCS2 done locally in Hong Kong and then see what happens when you bring it in. I reckon you'd probably have Maps etc working with a Wifi Hotspot etc anyway.

    Service Mode in Australia

Good Morning all, I've been reading threads about updates to Service Mode overseas, and I've followed the instructions to Hold the Logo in the About Area and enter the Password "service", but nothing happens from here on my car. BP Pulse Network

Did a charge at BP Diamond Creek (More Plenty/Greensborough than Diamond Creek... but anyway) Happily charged at 75kw Peak... App worked fine... Was free for the moment so was easier than charging at the Diamond Creek Stadium ;)

Transfers if you Sell Privately... However doesn't if its traded in to Tesla and they resell.

32 Amp Circuit on Wall charger question

I haven't heard of a 2 Phase Installation either. Generally if you've installed the Device on a 32 Amp Circuit with appropriate size wiring I would think you should have used a 40 Amp Circuit Breaker. If this is the case 32 Amp Operation should be fine. If it is actually a 32 Amp Breaker...

New M3 LR in 2023, what to do with my SR+

Yeap keep the Mobile Charger.. People can buy them if they need them, Just for your idea when it comes to worth M3 with similar km's sold for around $52k and $56k at Auction last week at Pickles (2 x Examples). People are asking top $$ on CarSales etc... but what the cars are "really" selling...

    Ampol AmpCharge network

400V Car would be limited to around 100kw It's purely used to gain access to Arena Funding. They know its dying and have designed the chargers with the ability to switch out to CCS2

    Ampol AmpCharge network

Charged at Ampol Altona today and there happened to be guys from Ampol Corporate looking at the chargers Explained the situation about 200A ABB Hardware limiting charge rated for 90% of EVs in Australia. Otherwise App and charge went well

Any point is buying a type 2 cable?

I have one for my Model S. Because it's the original "Dual Internal Charger" Type I can suck down 22kw an hour via these chargers (If Supported) so it can be a good charging option (especially if free). There's a number of places locally in Melbourne that I use them a bit including - Local...

Sentry mode doubling my energy consumption

Seems fairly obvious that you just need to add more Solar to offset such massive Sentry Power Usage ;)
  48. B

Western Power enforcing 32A supply allocation on rural/regional customers

That seems exceptionally limiting even for General House Usage etc… Couple of Split Systems and an Electric Cooktop/Oven and bang…. Hitting that limit.
