Unrelated: seeing as how they dropped the Standard and lowered the price on Friday, are you still locked in at your initial purchase price/trim or are they changing it?
I got it updated to the same version as you this past week and yea, it changed. No way to change it back, although I discovered that by tapping on it, it pulls up the Trip page. In any case, I agree, Current Drive just became a little less useful.
Yes - that's exactly what I fear is that I'll get it "wrong" there and that "wrong" carries over to my own car. It's like soooo off in my parents car under MY cloud profile that I'm hesitant to play with it. Love your idea of small tweaking and saving in my car and seeing if that carries over...
I've called pretty much every Firestone in the Carrollton/Plano/Frisco/Colony/Prosper/Farmers Branch area. None of them do it anymore, except one in FB which charges $375. Tesla charges $275, and they didn't adjust my parents' 3 steering wheel crookedness correctly. I've got an appt at BSP...
I recently took my dad's new 3 to get aligned as part of delivery issue fix. They covered it but said normally it costs $275. And, I'm surprised to hear they use software to adjust the steering wheel because even though the alignment spec shows 0.0 Steer Ahead and all specs are in mid-green...
My parents just picked up a 3 LR, and I've had a 3 Performance. They added me as an authorized driver/user and I can see my cloud profile in their vehicle (as well as seeing their car on my app.) Weird thing is, while the drive settings, screen icon placements, etc all carried over, the seat...
I recently put a very small dent in my door. Like you, had 69mil things on my mind and when we got home, everyone exited out of the car before I pulled it in (super tight garage space.) Lo and behold my 8 yr old never closed his side of the door, and as my garage is super tight anyways I've...
It's always been random for me. 20% of the time it won't auto open my gate, then sometimes when it opens the gate it won't auto-open the garage door, even though it shows "activated"
I've driven about 120 miles this weekend on the new tires, 235/35-20 stock size, some random thoughts:
-They don't seem quieter, or as quiet as OEM Michelins. I'm trying to remember how it was when new; my tread had worn down to the wear bars so I was hearing every bit of the road, so it's...
I'm getting mine installed today, will provide an update after a week. I'm surprised you got them through DT; my DT in DFW doesn't carry them. I got it at Tire Rack, availability was out to June but I lucked out (someone canceled their order in PHI and they routed it to me.)
I'm curious on the range hit as well. Currently these are 2 months out for availability but with some instant rebates and free road hazard they come out to $608 - worth the wait for me
My parents are test driving various trims of 3s and Ys right now, and the sales associate told them they can still order a 3 LR in-store. They basically order a SR+ and "add" the dual motor/LR trim. I know that's how the sticker shows as far as options anyways, so this could be a workaround.
I think the stop and go really helps - the regen makes a much bigger difference. I had stretches of highway mileage in my drive and that didn't do me any favors.
It's over 105 this weekend in North Dallas, and my drives haven't used less than 400wh/m. It's my first summer with the M3P, and a ~25 mi trip yesterday used up 30% of battery - first time I've had range anxiety.
I'm a big Mopar fan, had Chargers (5.7 and 6.4L) for the last ten years but researched and moved on to a M3P with no hesitation. By my calculations, I'm getting better performance in the 3 for 1/10 the cost of my Scat Pack, even before gas prices went crazy recently. I do miss the rumble but...
Tesla showrooms can arrange for a 24 hr test drive. I highly recommend setting this up, that way you can spend hours in the car and really familiarizing yourself with the vehicle over time. There's a recent reddit thread where someone made a very detailed pros/cons list about his Tesla, and...
I can't fathom not test driving a car before buying it. These aren't cheap and it's a big purchase, you can do research all day long but you're not going to know what you like/don't like until you yourself drive it.
I don't think that was normal behavior - mine never switched from Satellite to Normal by itself, light or dark mode. They did make changes to the map with the latest update - it no longer zooms in and out automatically when entering/exiting highways, for example. If your car was doing it, they...
Yea that's been the only way I know of to clean it - spatula wrapped in a microfiber cloth doused with window cleaner. Sadly it does destroy the foam insert; I just replaced it with a .5"x.5" window foam trim piece available on Amazon and elsewhere, cut it to fit, and tucked it in that space...
No. I reached into the light from the back seat, above the rear deck with a spatula and a cloth. Super annoying to try to clean that area, and you'll probably destroy the foam insert that blocks the light from the cabin. Can't emphasize how annoying it was to clean that area.
My side glass is fine but I had my windshield replaced for similar waviness when turning - you notice it because of the lateral movement of the background when turning. The new glass is better but not 100%. While I was waiting for my car, I walked the lot in the SC peering into other cars -...
Go ceramic. In TX we can only go lowest 35% front sides, and I like uniform so I went with 35% all sides with 15% rear. Still visible. I did try 70% top and front but it was too easy to see imperfections there, so I had them remove it. Did a lot to remove heat though, it was great when it...
Sold this B5 Scat Pack Charger for my M3P. Loved all 5 years with it but was very aware of the gas guzzling nature of the beast. It was a fantastic car, and I'm excited to see what Dodge has cooking for their "eMuscle" concept. All the old school Mopar guys are crying salty tears, but they...
I've generally had pleasant people at my SC, except their fixes usually result in a return visit - once for a windshield replacement which then required an AC system firmware update (?) after the fact, then a rattle fix for the rear doors - rattles are gone but they pried open the panels...
I had an issue with both rear windows - if I open them slightly the noise went completely away, but if I closed them, there was a very apparent rattle going over even slight imperfections. I took a tech for a test drive with him in the back seat and he could hear it clearly. It took 4 days but...
So long as we're talking car seats - I've heard in the past of a device that helps you ratchet a car seat into place. I've got a Graco that has the click-to-release latches but tightening is always a pain. Is anyone familiar with such a ratcheting device?
Protip - if you're using LATCH instead of the seat belt to install the car seat, once you install the seat tap on the seat belt screen display to change that seat to a baby seat. That way it won't register as unbuckled when you load the seat in.
70% should be basically clear, no? I had it done twice, as far as clarity/darkness it looked the same as no tint applied. My issue stemmed from a really bad installer - lots of haziness and scratches. I finally just had them remove it so I didn't have to deal with it. I loved the heat...
Tesla glass is pretty poor quality. I've had my front windshield replaced because of waviness, the new one has similar amounts of waviness. In the SC lot, ALL of them had waviness. Now, it's not to the point of nauseousness when driving, but I gave up trying to get them to replace it again.
If you actually reach someone at a SC over the phone, go buy a lottery ticket before your luck runs out. It's happened for me like, maybe 5% of the time? Usually if I have something urgent I just go there in person, I'm very fortunate that it's like 8 mi away
I had a Model Y loaner when my 3P was in for warranty work and it definitely rode differently. I'm sure I'd get used to it but the 3 just feels way more dialed in in terms of driving feel and suspension - feels perfect for me. I'm used to performance suspensions on the stiffer side so it's great.
It's a pain to change stations, as you'd have to be holding the phone/looking down at the phone to change. Also, the app doesn't work all that great - it randomly just pauses for no reason. I know the 3/Y doesn't have the satellite antenna but I don't understand why it's not offered as a...
I had this same dilemma - was always going to get the black interior but couldn't decide between the White and MSM exterior. Ended up with MSM and I'm very happy with it - less common than white and it looks much more elegant with the darker (non-chrome) trim and Uberturbines.
Many times they'll list it as a charge, and when they look at it they'll cover it under warranty. Just how Tesla does it which is not great, because you're on the hook for the cost if it's not under warranty, and it's completely on their discretion.
Update - i took it back to the SC and they took it in, examined the temperature sensor (it was fine) and ran a firmware update which fixed the issue. No clue why it happened or how a firmware update fixed the issue, still on same versioning.
NYC parking scares me. I went to visit my brother and the way they jam park valet cars together in underground lots makes me glad we were driving his dented 140k mile 15 yr old RAV4 instead of my car.
