    Western Canada Superchargers

I'm betting that the ones under construction will open but perhaps later than had been expected. Those would be North Vancouver, Richmond, Delta, Langley, Abbotsford and McBride in BC; Kananaskis, Whitecourt and Valleyview in AB.

    Supercharger - Grand Forks BC

I see that some City approvals for this site are on the Council agenda for their next meeting on May 6th; specifically a zoning amendment to allow EV chargers as a permitted use and a change to the Official Community Plan. It would seem that City staff are recommending that Council approve the...

Need to replace my all season and snow tires , what are folks using in Canada?

The whole issue of tire speed ratings seems pretty murky. For the current model year, the Tesla website says that the top speed for the Model 3 is 201km/hr. And if you do a search for winter tires for a Model 3, at least some of the websites show tires with T or even H speed ratings (well below...

    Supercharger Extension Cable

I guess the underlying question is whether access to a charger is in the order that the vehicle arrived at the Supercharger. The "TWO Tesla drivers" in your scenario presumably arrived at the Supercharger after the hypothetical Ford. (Teslas who were ahead of the Ford in the queue would not be...

    Supercharger - Clearwater, BC

Doesn't look like there was any problem with stalls being "Iced" when you were there. One other car in the whole parking lot. :)
  6. M

    Supercharger Extension Cable

I completely agree with your comments about the "right thing to do" but if the alternative is to wait, for hours??, until two adjacent stalls are empty. I would probably try to avoid creating a scene with other drivers, probably try to head elsewhere to charge or keep my charge time to the...

Need to replace my all season and snow tires , what are folks using in Canada?

Nokian One for all seasons; 130,000km tread warranty, quiet, attractive price, better rim protection than factory Michelins. Nokian Hakka's for winter.

    Supercharger Extension Cable

But if I arrive in a Ford and pull forward into an empty stall between two Teslas, when the Tesla to my left leaves I can use that plug before another Tesla occupies that stall to my left? That renders the stall just vacated by a Tesla as useless until I leave with my Ford. I might have to wait...

    Western Canada Superchargers

It looks like Tesla has updated their Find-Us map to show future Supercharger sites. Some are known sites like Manning Park, Whistler and Whitecourt AB but there are others like Langley, Abbotsford, Vancouver, Richmond, Sidney, Keremeos and Kananaskis.

Poll: How many are still using original 12V Battery that came with the car?

Last May cost me C$145.82 for Mobile Service to do it; battery, labour and taxes.

Supercharger - Cliveden Ave - Delta BC

I guess I wouldn't be too quick to make assumptions about which parts of the process are fast or slow for a specific location (unless one has insider knowledge from that department inside Tesla). There are a lot of parties and factors involved in Supercharger construction; landlords, local...

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

Just to clarify, if you go to the Tesla website under "Shop>Charging" it shows the price for the adapter alone ($345) or the adapter and retrofit ($475). It does not show a price for only the retrofit but perhaps that could be arranged through a Service Centre (if one already had an adapter or...

The $475 includes the adapter and retrofit.

Wall Connector - Solid Red Light

We've had our Wall Connector since 2018. About a year ago we started charging our ID.4 using the Wall Connector and a Lectron adapter. Twice we have got the red light on the connector (while charging the ID.4) but it seemed okay after turning the breaker off and on again. With three different...

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

On the app I considered whether to put the request under accessories or charging/battery. I ended up putting the request under Accessory; just described what I wanted done and that I wanted Mobile Service if possible. I think the app probably requires a choice of a specific service center along...

Yesterday I received an email from Tesla Service advising that the CCS retrofit was available with booking through the Tesla app. I have a Mobile Service visit scheduled for April 3rd.

Today I see that the two price levels for the CCS retrofit is back on the Tesla website; lower price for Model 3/Y versus the S/X. (The earlier change on Feb 23rd disappeared after a few hours.) I have an email into our nearest Service Center to see if the retrofit is actually available for...

    Supercharger - Blaine, WA - Boblett Street (LIVE 11 Apr 2024, 16 V4 stalls)

Typically the last action before a site goes live is a visit by Tesla staff (probably to check and test site). Not sure for this site if anyone has confirmed that the meter is in place; often times on one of the tall white equipment cabinets. If the meter is there it is also nice to know if...

    Supercharger - Blaine, WA - Boblett Street (LIVE 11 Apr 2024, 16 V4 stalls)

Tesla seems to have stopped adding future sites to their "Find-Us" map almost a year ago. Presumably it was a decision rather than an oversight for this site.
  20. M

    Supercharger - Manning park, BC

Did you notice if there was a BCH meter in place yet? Usually on the tall white Tesla cabinets. The meter being installed is usually a sign that things are close to being operational.
  21. M

    Supercharger - Valleyview, AB

If you are through Whitecourt and Valleyview on a regular basis, you might want to confirm that transformers and meters are in place at the Supercharger sites. The meters are usually on the tall white Tesla cabinets. If the meter is there, check to see if the power is flowing (the display on the...

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

Not sure what is going on at Tesla regarding the CCS adapter and retrofit. Previously their website indicated $615 for adapter and retrofit; a flat price with no price difference based on the specific model. However earlier today their website showed $615 for the Model S/X and $475 for the Model...

    Supercharger - Whitecourt AB

Keep checking the phone app, in-car navigation and the Tesla Find-Us map online. Those are the best sources, particularly for sites without much Tesla traffic in the area. Anyone following this forum will usually be very quick to post new information. I'm not sure that anyone has confirmed...

No meter (and no snow!) but getting the transformer puts it one step closer.

Congrats on your first TMC post (from a fellow Kamloopsian).
  26. M

    Supercharger - Clearwater, BC

The Clearwater SC now shows up on the phone app; 6 of 7 stalls shown as available. One in use and one not working?
  27. M

    Supercharger - Valemount, BC

That is more encouraging; it now shows on my phone app but not on the in-car navigation. Earlier this morning Valemount SC did not show for me in either place.
  28. M

    Supercharger - Clearwater, BC

Hopefully it is not a false alarm. It has been a long wait for Superchargers along that route.
  29. M

    Supercharger - Valemount, BC

A few minutes ago I saw Clearwater and Valemount on the Tesla Find-Us map but they didn't show up on my phone or on the in-car navigation. Not sure if they are actually open. On the Find Us map they don't list the number of stalls like is typical for open chargers.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

So I contacted my nearest Service Center here in BC earlier today and they advised, by email, that the retrofit was not available currently for the Model 3 and Y. I then asked if the part required for the retrofit was available for purchase; no response as yet. (When I tried to order the adapter...

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

FYI I tried to arrange to get the CCS retrofit (and adapter) done by Tesla. They advised that the retrofits are not available for the Model 3 and Y at this time. No indication of when it might be available. I'm waiting to hear back as to whether they will sell me the part required for the retrofit.

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

Thank you for the clarification on this matter. I see the new language in the Car Software tab with an Info link; unfortunately that Info link is not functional right now (takes me to a "404 page not found" message). For our 2018 Model 3 I guess if we ever want access to third party CCS chargers...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

So, is the consensus that older Teslas need the CCS retrofit in order to charge at a third party charger with a NACS connector? If so, as more third party chargers add NACS connectors, the time will come when older Teslas may need the retrofit but not the adapter? From what I see on the Tesla...

I now see that language on our Model 3. There is a link on the screen for more info but that just produces an error message. Maybe that will be straightened out in the next while.

If you can track down a source on the need for the internal retrofit, that would be great. I don't doubt that you are correct but clarification would be very important as we consider our options. Thanks.

Official Tesla CCS1 adaptor now available in Canada.

The Tesla website indicates that owners can now purchase the adapter and schedule a vehicle retrofit for those of us with older Teslas. Previously there was no way to arrange the retrofit through Tesla in most cases. Personally, I'm a bit skeptical about the being the whole process at $615 for...

    Supercharger - Blaine, WA - Boblett Street (LIVE 11 Apr 2024, 16 V4 stalls)

The last time that I saw any future sites added to Tesla's map was almost a year ago (except perhaps for the top sites in the Supercharger Voting process). There may be limited value for Tesla showing locations that they hope to build but, as you suggest, there seems to be some upside to show...

    Supercharger - Clearwater, BC

Not sure if anyone is really sure about what is holding up this site and the one in Valemount. From what I see on other threads, I had the impression that when the meter went in it meant that the utility requirements had been satisfied and that activation was in the hands of Tesla. Maybe Tesla...

    Supercharger - Valemount, BC

Doesn't seem to be open yet. Doesn't show up on the phone app; I haven't looked on the in-car navigation. Those are the first places that it will show up. Probably not many TMC members travelling that route this time of year to report on an opening (or to see a Tesla tech doing the final...

    Supercharger - Blaine, WA - Boblett Street (LIVE 11 Apr 2024, 16 V4 stalls)

I saw something online, maybe about the V4 site in Oregon, that showed a card reader under the spot where the cable docks when not in use. There might be some requirement for a card reader to qualify for certain funding (along with being available to non-Tesla vehicles). I'm sure that others...

    Supercharger - Blaine, WA - Boblett Street (LIVE 11 Apr 2024, 16 V4 stalls)

Looks like a Version 4 site; was that known previously? Version 4 with the longer cables should really help if the site will be open to non-Tesla vehicles.

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

The City of Kelowna issued a Building Permit for this location a couple of days ago. Looks like this one will be going ahead. The applicant has been representing Tesla in other matters for this site.

Alaska Highway Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

From the BC Hydro map, it looks like the transmission line south from Iskut (Eddontenajon) is either a 230 kV or 287 kV line. Perhaps not easily stepped down to a lower voltage without an expensive substation? However there is apparently a 1.7MW diesel generator at Eddontenajon operated by BCH.
  46. M

    Dawson Creek Supercharger

There are similar posts about Alaska Hwy and Cassiar charging on the Western Canada Supercharger thread on TMC. Moderators can decide if this discussion should go somewhere else since it doesn't directly relate to Superchargers (although the audience might be the same).

    Dawson Creek Supercharger

It seems that BCH has diesel generation at Good Hope Lake, about 20 km east of Jade City. I don't know if there is a distribution line over to Jade City.

    Western Canada Superchargers

I understand your perspective but my views are largely based charging on out-of-town trips last year to the Island, Idaho and Edmonton. I never encountered Superchargers where we had to wait (but it might be different on long weekends). It wasn't uncommon to be the only ones at many...
