POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

That's pretty surprising. I have a "refresh" model.

Update. 10k miles. '21 LR refresh. Zero vibration.

    Quikr Mach 2 hitch rack

Also, received my Mach2 + 2 add-ons today. While it isn't going on the tesla, it's VERY well built. I've closely inspected the 1up racks at the trail, and I'm glad I went with the Mach2. I do think they could've packed it better, I have a tiny paint chip in the rack from shipping, but I'm going...

    Quikr Mach 2 hitch rack

Curious how this has held up long term. Those bikes are VERY far away from the actual hitch mounting bolts. I'm not an engineer, but am curious what the torque loads are with the bikes bouncing around. I also am curious if you've had any trunk issues, using straps to lift the bikes to lighten...

Refreshed Model S - rear seat rattle

I have a feeling that this is related to the initial design having power rear seat recline. There are extra latches in the rear, that really make no sense unless they intended to have power recline/latching. Due to supply chain/whatever, they went to manual latches.

Ran off the road while trying to find the horn. Aftermarket horn button options?

Early refresh the airbag does not push in. On newer S', it does push in, so everyone assumed Tesla would move to a center airbag horn via update. But, that was over a year ago, and nothing

Ran off the road while trying to find the horn. Aftermarket horn button options?

I'm fine with the yoke, I am absolutely done with the touch horn button. I was ran off the road at 45mph by someone merging into me, entire time desperately trying to swerve to avoid them while hunting for the horn. I made a service request and the response was basically that they can't add the...

Zero vibration in my ~9/21 build Long Range. I am very sensitive to vibrations and NVH issues.

RPM Tesla Updated Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Ah yeah, zero affiliation with RPM. I'm just saying in general, even if it's available on ebay/alibaba, generally speaking you get better support if buying and paying extra from a local reseller. I didn't know RPM had such a bad reputation. If I had, I would not have given them my business.

RPM Tesla Updated Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Their website states this "Our spoilers are not made from imported pre-preg carbon fiber sheets commonly used in wet molding." However, even if made in china, if you get a really bad spoiler odds are that RPM will make it right. Whereas ebay/etc, you're not going to get any help whatsoever...

RPM Tesla Updated Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Honestly, no OEM carbon that I've ever seen up close is that great. Ferrari, Ducati, none of it is "perfect". The only way to get really good CF is to go to an aftermarket company that specializes in it.... And you will certainly need to open your wallet wide. I think a lot of the problems with...

RPM Tesla Updated Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Also, important to point out in my post above, the 3m promoters are not known to be great for paint. It's ideal if you plan to never remove the spoiler - not great if you want to go back to stock.

Is there a way to upgrade to the push airbag horn?

This is probably my only real complaint about my 21 August-ish Model S. The horn placement is outright dangerous. In parking lots I drive with my thumb hovering the capacitive touch horn button. Does Tesla offer an upgrade to a standard style horn?
  14. J

RPM Tesla Updated Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Here's my feedback...... Had I read this thread before ordering it, I probably wouldn't have bought it. That said, I'm glad I did. Mine fits perfectly. Zero gaps. The CF layering could maybe be better, but you would had to have seen a lot of CF to know it. Mine came with one strip of "3m VHB"...

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

Chiming in that rear flaps are needed. My PPF hasn't been busted through, but you can definitely tell that the rears kick up debris

Plaid center console light turns off when fully opened?

I'm living with it. I have bad experience with even "decent" dealers pulling out consoles and dashboards that then creak and squeek. Add in the fact that even Tesla doesn't seem to have a TSB on what exactly to do, you are totally at the mercy of the tech who comes out. If there's a formal...

    Jacket Hanger?

Any aftermarket solutions? The factory refresh hangers are useless. Right now I’m laying things flat in the truck but would prefer maybe a seatback hanger. I see they made them for previous S’, anyone know if those fit the refresh? It doesn’t seem like they would

Plaid center console light turns off when fully opened?

It's been at least 6 months since this was reported to Tesla, I've lost hope and forced myself to not be bothered by it.

Cut them now before they get ripped off the car!
  21. J

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

After you install one side, put the car in low and check how close they are to the ground before installing the other side. They’re easy to cut with a razor knife.
  22. J

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

See attached for how it is now, on low suspension. This is about 2" cut off. Totally stock everything, 19” wheels. To recap. Out of the box these things literally almost touched the ground on low. I cut off 1" or so, still scraped even when cornering in the mountains which probably removed...

Plaid center console light turns off when fully opened?

Pretty crazy that a problem affecting basically all refresh cars is still not figured out

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

I went and looked, you're correct it's there, but you can't move it to the main screen like the seat/yoke heat and controls. Still requires going into the menu, but easier than the way I was doing it previously. Thanks for the tip
  25. J

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

Wait what. How? Mine only has the ability to do seat controls and heated yoke via the main screen. Anything with suspension, from what I can tell, requires going into the menu

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

The issue is they don't just scrape - they will get ripped off the car. It happened to me. Thankfully I caught it right when it happened so no damage. Is there a better method than tapping the car > suspension > scroll down > scroll suspension to high? This would be a lot easier if there was...

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

I cut another 1" off and they still scrape. So you will need to trim at least 2.5" off the flaps.
  28. J

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

Strong reminder to cut at least 2" off the bottom of the OEM flaps. I cut off about 1" and still scrapped in hard corners with suspension on low. And on every speed bump. They eventually were ripped off the car (zero damage, thankfully)

Refresh front suspension clunk / knock / thunk

Yes for sure. I removed the plastic covers under the front motors and check the bash plate bolts, all seemed tight. It might be my imagination, but it seemed to help quite a bit. I might go ahead and remove the bash plate, clean, re install. Or just make a service appt. I just hate bringing it...

Can someone explain this behavior of the refresh auto-garage door opener closing the door on the car?

Me either, thus this thread. I think that for whatever reason, getting in and out to move a box etc, the car thinks I'm leaving and closes the door.

Can someone explain this behavior of the refresh auto-garage door opener closing the door on the car?

I really like the auto open/close feature but yeah, not worth the risk. I disabled it

Can someone explain this behavior of the refresh auto-garage door opener closing the door on the car?

Amazon leaves a box in front of the garage door. I pull up, the opener auto-opens the door. I take off my seatbelt, move the box, get in the car, as I am pulling into the garage the auto-opener CLOSES the door on the car. Thankfully it hasn't hit the car - I either scoot in super fast, or the...

Picture of 2021 Model S refresh with Tempest wheels no wheel covers

Yep I love the 19's w/ the covers. Both the look and the extra meat on the tires. Even if they were the same cost I would have gone with the 19s. They look a LOT better in person

Need Portable Air compressor options/recommendations for Model S refresh LR

After probably too much research I went with this: https://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools-compressors/air-compressors-tanks/inflators/12v-100-psi-high-volume-air-inflator-63745.html Lots of really positive youtube reviews, including teardowns, that show it is well built. Refresh front suspension clunk / knock / thunk

Posting here as there is a lot of short various threads about this and am hoping to have one place to post about this. 3500 miles. Mine sounds exactly like a bad sway bar end link. Sort of a medium pitched clunk from front passenger side. It happened very rarely at first and I didn't give it a...

    Model S Refresh Mud/Splash Guards

Flexible however the issue isn't breaking per se. They end up getting ripped off the car unless you trim at least 2 full inches from the bottoms. The problem is primarily with speed bumps. Even when going super slow, as the front wheel rolls off the speed bump it's a near-vertical slam of the...

Tesla OEM Mud flaps for refresh S

Not anything super obvious but I haven't looked closely. Napa didn't have a push pin that is shallow enough to fit, the Tesla one is pretty specific as far as length. I'm about to email them and see what I can figure out regarding a replacement push pin. I went ahead and took the other side off...

Update, going super slow over a slightly large speedbump ripped off the drivers side flap. One of the push pins is nowhere to be found

Tesla OEM Mud flaps for refresh S

Yea I’m just not excusing it as easily. They were extremely poorly designed and clearly not tested. The suspension ui is annoying, it’s not like it’s one button on main screen to raise suspension. It’s weird to me to be “appreciative” over such a poorly designed accessory
  42. J

Tesla OEM Mud flaps for refresh S

See attached. This is after cutting 1" off the bottom and about 1000 miles of driving. It's a normal or even smallish speed bump. Either there is a different design flap or there is something different about your S.

Tesla OEM Mud flaps for refresh S

    No 80 Amp Charging Anymore?

    Rennjack vs Jackpoint Jack Stands

Yep, leaning towards jackpoint. I noticed it has the older style oval cutout, but I have jackpads so I would probably get the recessed plate and use my own pads. Center Console Lost Credit Card

You really can't believe it? I mean there is an obvious slot there where something could slide and get lost, I'm not sure if you expected gutters or what, but you should be appreciative that they are goodwilling this. I would be shocked if BMW/MB/etc would agree to disassemble an interior for...

Are there any owners here that did not do the full PPF treatment? (poll)

I've never PPF'd any of my prior vehicles. However after seeing how thin and soft Tesla paint is, I decided to bite the bullet and have the front and areas behind all wheels done. It wasn't super expensive, and I don't care about resale with paint chips, but I don't want the paint to look like...
