For local driving, no commute, go with the SR Model 3.

    My 2023 Model 3 got totaled :(

It should, if it doesn’t you may have something wrong with it and could have Tesla look at it.

How and when is the Tesla-brand service worth it? Do outside services affect the warranty?

For simple things like tires, any reputable service place can handle it. I recently had my Model S tires changed at Americas Tire and had no issues. Don’t use Tesla for tire service, other than rotations. They charge a lot more them Americas Tire or Firestone. Anything major, take it to Tesla...

    Refused delivery on MYP

Never called BS for the OP refusing, just asking for pictures. Usually when there’s such terrible build quality people take pictures now as proof of the issues. Considering how the post started: What was expected here? Considering the OP got a new VIN within an hour of taking the refusal...

    Snippiness 2.0

As someone with a total of 7 posts, all in this one thread. Sounds like you’re just another who decided to join TMC just to whine about a bad delivery experience. Pictures would help substantiate your claims as many come here claiming labels gaps, etc.., when really there is no issue. You could...

    Wireless Charging Not Good

I tried this and it doesn’t work for the 15 Pro.

What is 12v battery replacement cost

I had the 12v replaced on my 2019 S last June for $233 via mobile service. The OEM 12v lasted 4 years which I can’t complain about. If Tesla installs a new 12v they provide a 1 year warranty on the battery. Which is pretty standard, you can’t expect them to warranty it for 3 or 4 years. The...

    Wireless Charging Not Good

My iPhone 12 Pro charged with no issue. I switched out to a 15 Pro and it won’t charge at all. There’s numerous other threads here with people having the same issue. The wireless charging pad is hit or miss depending on what phone you have. As others have said, without magnets to align the phone...

Is the cost of PPF worth it?

First, what specific ceramic coating did you buy/apply?
  13. K

Is the cost of PPF worth it?

Don’t even start with that crap. You probably paid for the Turtle Wax spray that has the word “ceramic coating” on the label. Spouting out chemicals from the periodic table doesn’t make your case for $15 ceramic coating any better.
  14. K

Is the cost of PPF worth it?

For $15 you probably didn’t get real ceramic coating.

How does this lease deal look?

As a long time leaser, never put money down on a lease. As others have said, you don’t have any equity in the car. So all that money you put down just goes to the dealer, or in this case Tesla. If you crunch the numbers, typically the amount your monthly payment goes up will be less then the...

    Issue prior to Delivery Day

Do you feel the car is irreparably damaged and will never drive as new? If so, then pass it up. If you believe the side mirror issue will have no effect on the future of the car, then let them fix it and pick it up.
  17. K

Is the cost of PPF worth it?

If you DIY then I’d say it’s worth it. Did the entire front for ~$600 with STEK. I wouldn’t pay $1800+ though for PPF.

Hail damage 3 days after delivery

Not necessarily, getting hit by hail happens to a lot of people so I wouldn’t say you’re out of luck. Get an estimate and submit an insurance claim if necessary. I’m totally ignoring your actual question since it’s so ridiculous to even think anyone else would be responsible for fixing your...

I lost to Tesla in Arbitration

First you should have opted out of arbitration within the first 30 days of buying your Tesla. Instructions to do so are in the MVPA. If you really think there’s an issue, have you tried the lemon law pathway?

Real life experience with Xcelerate warranty?

I believe Xcare has the final say in claims. Endurance may initially deny the claim, but if you elevate it to Xcare, they can approve the claim.

Thoughts on Medusa Black wheel covers for Model Y

I feel you, I had the original Rimetrix Laminars for a couple of years on my Y. They were a pain to get on/off. Always had to keep a flat head screwdriver in the car in case I got a flat so I could remove the wheel covers if needed. Switched to LASFIT and never looked back.

Expired 2020 Model S Loan Takeover $955 [Expired]

I think your thread is a little misleading. The person taking over the loan would essentially need to qualify for a loan and the interest rate would be based on their own credit. So the cost would not be $955. Seems like it would be easier to just handle this as any other car sale with a lien...

A new checklist for a Freemont built MYLR

Inspect it as you would any other car. Unless you print out and bring a checklist with every car you buy, then doing so for a Tesla is silly. If there’s any real issues, you’ll notice them on a walk around. Bringing a checklist just invites unnecessary scrutiny to find issues that aren’t really...

Pulled over because of no front license plate

It sounds more like he used the lack of a front plate as a reason to pull you over and then also tried lying about the tint being illegal on the back to buy more time to keep you pulled over. Was probably looking for something bigger than just a missing front plate and tint. I hope you didn’t...

Holding off payment until last minute - how long can you wait?

I paid my down payment via Plaid after seeing the vehicle. I then authorized my credit union to pay the remaining balance once I took delivery. The credit union I used pays Tesla only after I take delivery. Never pay them ahead of time.

MYP lease pickup Friday - can I wait to pay the upfront fees?

I think it’s based on the delivery center. I’ve been to Fremont and Stockton and they’ve let me inspect the inside of the car. When I picked up my 3 in Sacramento they wouldn’t let me look inside the car before accepting delivery.

main panel has 30 amp to garage panel, what are the options

Agree, I used a 20 amp with the Tesla mobile connector on my Model S for 2 years without any issues. I only upgraded to a 50 amp circuit with the wall connector when I added a Model Y and 3 to the group. A 20 amp circuit is more than enough for most, especially if you only have 1 EV.

    Buying a refreshed 2021-2022 Model S 35k miles vs 45k miles or a 2024 Model 3

Did you just bump your own post after just a few hours? Don’t buy a model 3 for $61.5k. Honestly they all seem overpriced.

Model Y Lease - Be Careful

Ah yes, you’re right. I missed that small claims court portion of the agreement.

Model Y Lease - Be Careful

That’s if you opted out of arbitration in writing for your car within the first 30 days. Most people don’t read the fine print and don’t so there is only one path, that’s arbitration, not small claims court.

Model Y Lease - Be Careful

I’ve leased plenty of vehicles in the past, mainly Audis and a 2019 Tesla Model S. I’m familiar with how leasing works, thanks for mansplaining though. In general you need to return the vehicle in the condition it was received, less normal wear + tear which is stipulated in the lease contract...

Model Y Lease - Be Careful

The chipping that may occur on the rear doors of the Y is due to the fact that the Y is wider in the rear. It has nothing to do with low ground clearance. As you stated, this is a known issue and can be mitigated with a set of front mud flaps and PPF in that area from Tesla for <$100. Could have...

anyone purchased and use a pre-cut ppf before?

I don’t have any experience with the Hydrotek PPF, but I bought a full front STEK PPF kit for my Model Y and full front 3M PPF kit for my Model 3 from northtints.com. Both were great and they even reached out after I accidentally forgot to add the “edge wrapping” to my Model 3 order to confirm...

Model 3 Lease RWD - Money Factor

Tesla has the worst MF in the industry. From as far as I know you can’t negotiate the MF like you can with dealerships for other manufacturers. It’s either take it or leave it with Tesla when it comes to the terms of the lease.

In my case, is having a pro do a ceramic coating worth it?

Since your car is PPF’d you wouldn’t have any paint prep to do before applying ceramic coating. That would have already been done before the PPF was applied. If you have hydrophobic PPF, then ceramic coating is a waste of money. All you would need to do is clean the car and the PPF should retain...

Thoughts on Medusa Black wheel covers for Model Y

The Lasfits are holding up perfectly fine. I haven’t been through a car wash with them. But, since I would only use touchless car washes, I can’t see a car wash affecting them.

Model S 2018 worth keeping before battery warranty expires?

You still have two years left on your battery warranty, why worry about it now? That’s like asking if you should sell your car after year one of your 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. As others have said, look at XCare for an aftermarket warranty if you’re worried. I just purchased one...

  44. K

Which torque wrench for model y long range 20”

To make things easier, buy an impact wrench, especially if you’ll be rotating your own tires. You won’t need a breaker bar if you have an impact wrench. You’ll then need a 1/2”, 21 mm socket and a 1/2” torque wrench that goes to at least 129 ft lbs. Jack up one side of the car, take off all the...

Thoughts on Medusa Black wheel covers for Model Y

Did you pay for the Rimetrix Medusa’s, or did you get them for free? The design of the Rimetrix are a deal breaker since they are impossible to remove without damaging them.

    Model Year 2024 Model Y

It appears logically you’re wrong. Does that also mean you would logically not expect to get a 2025 model year in 2024?
