USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

The data for the 2024 Model Y RWD is already out, ~66 kWh extracted on the EPA testing. The outstanding question was if it was software locked or a physically smaller pack, which has now been verified to be sw locked. That was evident by the curb weight of the vehicle but good to have...

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

Yeah, they also can't use imported LG packs for 2024 Model Y even if they wanted because of the "Foreign Entity of Concern" restriction which would disqualify them from the EV credit.

    Performance model?

USA MY RWD has soft limited LR battery!

They rarely seem to hit that 82kWh mark though.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

You mean Model 3 LR not Model Y, right? Model 3 LR was recently re-introduced in the US and range went down from 358 EPA miles to 333. Makes sense that it's due to the LG pack. That's what I thought but just wanted to confirm because they've recently started delivering Shanghai made cars in...

    Pricing strategy for 2023?

Yes, it folds into that "mini underfloor" space. Plenty of videos on youtube:
  10. R

    Pricing strategy for 2023?

You just fold down the seats, the trunk space with the seats folded is practically identical. All you miss out on is the second underfloor storage area which is small, shallow and oddly shaped.

    Pricing strategy for 2023?

There's no reason to want a 5-seat over a 7-seat, the 7-seat is now cheaper than the 5-seat thanks to it qualifying for the $7500 credit. Waiting isn't without risk, it is expected that in March the IRS will have finalized the critical mineral requirements which will likely mean that even...

Model Y AWD 279 mile range available as inventory car at some locations

Not sure what you're going on about, they sold all the 3/Y they could in the US.
  13. R

    Pricing strategy for 2023?

7-seat Model Y qualifies, so they don't need to push prices below $55k to get the credit. Just have to make that the standard.

Tesla prepares launch of a cheaper Model Y electric SUV

Those SR 4680 Model Y's have always been popping up in inventory, nothing new.

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

I get what you mean and I agree for the most part but technically it wasn't paid for in April, that's why I said nobody who paid for it had it removed, instead you placed a refundable deposit which would have been refunded had you not agreed to the change.

Thanks for the reply, always good to hear your 2ct ;) Why do you think they designed the BYD blade pack to have less energy than the CATL (58 vs 62 kWh) rather than equal? As you mention there is space for more cells. Yeah I also agree that SR 4680 in Europe doesn't make much sense until they...

@eivissa Any news on 2023 updates for 3/Y? Will we be seeing CATL LMFP cells for SR in Q1 2023?

I'm aware but google translate doesn't work on that forum and each post has to be translated individually. Anyway the point I was making is that those of us who don't speak German won't be checking on the TFF forums so might miss the news posted on there. Since Eivissa is active on both forums...

Thank you, if I'm reading it correctly the weight is the same as the Model Y LR? Would be cool if you could post the same stuff on here in the future as well for those of us that don't know German.

    Model Year 2022 Refresh M3/MY

Eivissa do you have any further info on the rumors about a Berlin Model Y SR using BYD LFP blade cells? I heard 55kWh which seems weird as the Model 3 SR with CATL LFP cells is 60kWh.
  23. R

No, Model 3 won't be getting 4680's anytime soon.

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

I wouldn't necessarily want them to unveil the compact this year but when he was asked I was expecting to hear that they had started work on it. Then again for that to have happened the design & engineering on the CT would have had to be wrapped up, but for whatever reason that is clearly not...
  31. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Thing is you have to start design & engineering of the compact now if you want it to be ready sometime in say 2024, and that is quite an optimistic timeline already. Cybertruck hopefully in 2023 isn't confidence inspiring either. Fair enough. I think it is safe to say the folks at Tesla know...
  32. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Terrible idea. Trucks have much better margins than compacts. Going for a design that caters to Europeans would be a mistake, TAM for trucks in Europe is tiny compared to the US. Now if you said "I wish they would start design & engineering on a compact car so that they can bring it to market...

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Leaving semantics aside, which are not worth arguing, what does not convince you of its functionality?
  35. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Practically speaking almost nobody tows a 5th wheel with 1/2 ton trucks, and the Cybertruck is squarely aimed at the half ton market. It seems to me the issue about not having access to the bed from the sides is grossly exaggerated given that unlike an ICE there is a frunk and possibly sail...

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

People keep repeating this but never articulate it. How is the Cybertruck not functional?
  37. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Reservations prove you wrong. Aside from the yoke, which I hope won't be the only option, there's nothing about the Cybertruck that isn't practical. The width numbers are wrong, you need to take the ones without mirrors as the CT at the unveil didn't have any.
  38. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

I don't ever remember him saying zero changes. I wish because I liked the one at the unveil better, however I have to admit it is for the most part unchanged. Does a windshield wiper seriously bother you that much? Personally I never believed in the laser wipers. The magnetic ones did sound...
  39. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

Not sure what you're going on about: 1) Front bumper is pretty much identical. 2) Everybody knew mirrors were happening unless the US changed its laws in time (digital mirrors are already legal in the EU). 3) Everybody knew some form of wiper was happening. 4) Not a significant difference, they...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I must have missed it, why did the range go from 614km to 602km with the E5LD Model 3 LR?
  41. R

    CyberTruck Image Leaked

True, though it would look even better if it were straight and not have that kink where it attaches to. What you just wrote doesn't make any sense. The Rivian is the least "truck" out of all, it has a tiny 4.5ft bed.
  42. R

    Model Year 2022 Refresh M3/MY

US is EPA cycle not WLTP, hence the difference.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

As for when Berlin will produce vehicles with 4680's and what it will entail nobody knows for sure. However I think 6 months is a little too optimistic given the construction status of the cell building in Berlin.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

The battery for MIC SR's was LFP already so that can't be it.
  46. R

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Like the MIC Model Y SR, the MIC Model 3 SR now has a slower 0-60 time (6.1s vs 5.6s), is that due to new more efficient motors being introduced? or the LFP battery going from 55kWh to 60kWh?
  47. R

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

As long as they are being sold with the 580km WLTP rating that is ok in my mind given the people that get the smaller pack are still getting what they paid for. Though obviously it is not ideal that some are getting better than that despite paying the same amount.
  48. R

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Just to clarify, what do you mean by back and forth? That the old packs will be mixed in with the new ones so it is luck of the draw?
  49. R

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

My guess is they sort the packs depending on capacity, those that come out higher go into Performance models the rest go into LR's.
