No idea why you thought I had ruffled feathers or was uptight, but this thread is for discussion of the Supercharger location in question. There's not very many people watching this thread due to that scope. You'd get a lot more info and feedback if you made a post in the Model Y subforum.

IMO, if you can't charge at home you should reconsider a Tesla. In this area, it's .32 to .37 per KWH at superchargers, and less than half that to charge at home. That said, this isn't the thread for that kind of discussion. That's a better topic for the general discussion subforums.

Florida Power and Light is putting a number of CCS chargers in the area, too. That might be what's going in there instead of a Supercharger. They have them under construction in Destin and FWB that I know of.

Gulf Breeze sat for several weeks before being brought online, IIRC. A lot of it seems to depend on the local power company, contractors, and getting the needed transformer(s).

D'oh, I missed the meter box when I was there earlier.

This is a first, plugging up almost seemed to be detected as a L2 charger but the session didn't start. I don't remember seeing this behavior at the Gulf Breeze location before it went live. The charging screen came up automatically, and when my door was closed I had the "ready to charge"...

Unfortunately, my 3 was one of the COVID cars that didn't get CCS capability. It's never been anything I've needed or missed, but it would be nice to have as a backup option.

Shame it's CCS. I wonder how long FPL will take to make the switch to NACS.

Well, it's on Supercharge.info now listed as PERMIT, and obviously this thread was created to match. I find it interesting that we now potentially have two Pensacola locations less than 6 miles apart. Makes me wonder if the original location by Academy and such by N Davis Highway is going to be...

Certainly looks that way based on the plans. I'd think it very unlikely that they'd be putting in 12x EA or some other third party L3 chargers or any kind of L2s.

I'd guess that they're waiting to resolve whatever caused the delay (transformer availability, power company issues, etc) before dealing with the permit.

I was there last weekend, and no sign of anything. Honestly, I expect this will be an extended wait like Destin has been.

Same here. I have woken up to that surprise a couple of times now.

Tomorrow is the expiration date of the permit, but not sure if that's an automatic thing or if it'll get a day of reprieve due to the holiday.

The one in Gulf Breeze had a permit noticed on Oct 28th, construction was first spotted Jan 21st, meter spotted on March 2nd, went live on the map on April 14th. SO 10ish weeks from permit to construction, and just shy of 3 months from first construction to online. Pensacola is about 8 weeks...

Still no changes on the Destin permit. Starting to wonder if they're going to have to re-apply on this one.

That's about what mine showed, but ours was installed in the middle of a billing cycle.

No change on the Destin permit since March, and the permit is going to expire on September 4th. Hopefully they're about to get a move on with this.

It's just the flat fee, no per KWH unless you charge outside of off peak hours. No idea. If anything changes on that, it's probably 3-5 years away. FPL will only install them inside a garage from what I have seen.

On the Tesla side? Nope. Not even close. If it's somehow being hung up by Destin, then calling the city government might help.

Holy crap! I keep an eye on this part of NC, as I grew up in Laurinburg, and this one completely snuck under the radar.

Okaloosa County isn't showing any permit data I can find for this. Could be it's all falling under Destin, or could be something else going on. I searched by date, parcel, address, even searching for anything listed as being on 98 East - no joy.

The site plan linked in the original post shows the location. It's along the median between the entry road and Academy parking directly behind Moe's. It should be far enough away from everything to minimize and ICE'ing that isn't intentional.

The pulled my 14-50 outlet and hardwired in the FPL charger with no permit needed. All depends on where you live. My FPL charger is 40A continuous on a 50A breaker, same as my Gen1 MC on a 14-50 was before that.

Could also be Destin shenanigans at work.

Worst case, you might need to remove the Tesla charger yourself first. I had a 14-50 outlet that they removed and reused the circuit to install the FPL-provided charger.

FYI, there's also level 2 chargers at the Destin Commons. Between those and the Crestview supercharger (or DeFuniak or Gulf Breeze if you go those directions for something) it should be pretty manageable without an SC in Destin.

I'm not sure when they updated the site, but FPL has finally opened enrollment in the Panhandle/NWFL area they bought out from Gulf Power. I was able to enroll today, and it looks like the next step is getting a call from an electrician.

I dropped it off on a Monday morning and picked it up Wednesday night. The battery had been ordered a week prior and was already on hand when I dropped it off.

Brand spanking new HV pack (NOT a refurbished, probably due to luck) under warranty.

In addition to the barely running SC, there's also 4x chargers (2x 1772, 2x Tesla DC) at the Culver's on 98. You may need to ask for them to be turned on when you order. I used those and the ones as Juanas pretty heavily my first couple of weeks of ownership while waiting for the electrician.

Probably an oversight. There's no way they're going to build a site and let it sit for 3+ months with no use/revenue unless some MAJOR unforseen problem popped up. If that was the case, I'd expect they'd have been covered up by now.
