Nope, in fact I still have not paid. Got the VIN last night around 7:30 pm, got a text confirming Friday delivery at 8:30 am, and got the 2nd text asking if delivery today is ok at 10 am.

I think this is more likely to happen if you are on the East coast. As the EDD would also have a 2 week delivery included, you might get the VIN 1-2 weeks before

Did you order a MYLR? This thread is for MYP, which has a much shorter turnaround time. Your timeline sounds about right for MYLR

Definitely agree. The 3k difference is an insane deal for MYP, and is what made it a no brainer for me. Similar cars from other luxury brands range in anywhere from 15-30k more to upgrade to the “highest performance” one.

There’s definitely something wrong here. I would call both Tesla and chase to see what’s going on. For reference my reservation says “amount financed” in that field. This looks like a pretty egregious error

Just called SA again and he mentioned a new soft build date of 8/31 for my car. For reference my EDD was 8/25->9/12 until yesterday, when it changed to "4-5 weeks".

this is the same thing that happened to my MYP order. EDD was stable at 8/22-9/11 for 2 weeks. On 8/23 it changed to 8/25-9/12. Since yesterday (8/26) it changed to "4-5 weeks"

Yep this also explains those cases of someone ordering a car and then getting a VIN the next day. Seen a few of those pop up on east coast recently

Yep, I think this is most likely the case. Guess I ordered at a bad time. On the other hand those ordering on the west coast right now might actually get their cars at the same time as me (before EOQ)

Well, I wouldn’t say I know a lot about supply chain, but it feels to me like Tesla not switching the MYLR headlights and producing them specifically for MYLR goes against their typical part re use policy between the 3 and Y. Doubtful you will have any luck getting a bigger discount. Current market value of used MYLR is over MSRP.

If your vin is higher than 225xxx you will have bio defense mode

You can call any tesla location and talk to any SA. They all have access to the same system and can check on your reservation.

Interesting. Seems likely that the fremont factory just has a surplus of the old headlights and theyre just trying to get rid of them. I think the MYLR is the only car tesla makes now that still has the old ones. This would explain other countries/factories using the new ones for MYLR.

You should go check out the other thread for July LR orders. This one is for MYP only and the two have vastly different delivery times

It doesn’t even make sense why they ding your credit until you have a VIN lol. When you order a car from any other OEM you don’t need to finalize financing/payment until the car arrives. It’s even worse for Tesla since it seems nobody has any real idea when your car will arrive.

Hopefully it’s just a temporary issue… when I called on Monday the SA had told me that “Your car should be built any day now, expect a VIN as soon as tomorrow” Not holding my breath at this point….

EDD reset back to 4-5 weeks today. For reference, I was in my EDD window for the past 4 days.

Actually I think it is the opposite. From what I’ve seen on this forum CA customers are deprioritized until the last month of the quarter. For reference I ordered my MYP on 7/8 and those on the east coast who ordered the same configuration over 1 month later already have received their VINs...

To be honest it says you need to, but most are contactless delivery these days and they leave the forms in the car with a FedEx envelope. If one of you can’t make it call the day before and say you want to verify your delivery is contactless as you are worried about covid.

I believe quite a lot of people with blue on white orders got their VINs on these forums in the past 2 days. It seems likely they just made a big batch of them and you happened to get lucky to skip ahead of others waiting longer.

Considering that the plaid wait time was much longer it’s likely there were more cancellations from the initial reservations too when the car was finally ready. Just because you want a car now, you might likely change your mind or already purchase a different vehicle if the car came 1 year from now.

That roof gap specifically looks pretty bad. I would definitely make a stink about that if they told me it was in spec.
