Installing a Yaesu FTM400 Ham Radio in my 2023 Model X

Hi Beta V, I have a 2016 December Model X. Do you still have that ProClip you modified? I'll buy it from you...? K4PDA

    Miraculous air conditioning

One last thought to my other replies - I have a 6 passenger X P100D Premium with rear AC. I've spent a lot of time studying how this system cools myself. I aim all the dash vents as high as they will go and towards the center line of the vent itself (so not left or right of center of the...

    Miraculous air conditioning

Leave the system in AUTO and just lower the temp setting a few degrees. This will up the fan speed. I've noticed that as the trip progresses, sometimes the cabin gets a little warmer over time (battery temp affecting cabin temp?) so I just lower the temp (usually down to 68 or so - I live in So...

    Miraculous air conditioning

The rear A/C is not air directed from the front. A second A/C system is used for the back row(s) and the unit is located in the rear area of the car.

New X100D charging at reduced amps

My Dec 26, 2016 Model X P100D has about 22,000 miles and routinely I see 72A charging. I keep the battery between 20% and 80%, rarely if ever charging beyond 80% unless I'm leaving very shortly and then only to 90%. Since the 2018.21 update my X only charges at 60 Amps. Can't get it to go back...

iPhone X phone calls (no sound & ppl can't hear me)

I have this issue with my Apple Watch, iPhone X and my Model X P100D. From the SC I understand that the versions of Bluetooth both for Tesla and Apple came out almost the same time and they are frequently incompatible resulting in this type of failure. I put my watch in Airplane mode and phone...

Using a Mouse to operate MCU

I keep a USB wireless trackball in the car for when the kids want to drive the media player. Sadly, a recent (not sure which) version of software has eliminated this useful feature - anyone know why? P100D Model X

    Bluetooth / iPhone X issues

Actually, for me the problem is a little more advanced. In addition to the random switching of a call between phone speaker and bluetooth speaker, there have been many occasions just after getting in the car for the first trip of the day where a call just happens spontaneously and the number the...

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

I would expect them to say that... ANY respectable mechanic would disagree with them. Experience beats advertising anytime.

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

Can't hate this car at all. My X P100D is just awesome. Gripes I do have: 1. Bluetooth issues in general - phone won't drop connection after a call and car radio doesn't come back on. I sometimes have to actually make another call and then END so the radio will resume. (Apple iPhone 7s Plus) 2...

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

I learned this from Car & Driver 20 years ago and still do it to this day! Best way to really know what's going on around you.

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

Hate to tell you this, but WD40 is NOT a lubricant. It is a moisture repellant. DO NOT USE WD40 to lube anything. Use T9 or other silicon or teflon spray. Your application of WD40 might have "fixed" your problem, but it didn't lube anything. FYI

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

I wish the key fob had protections on it to keep the buttons from being pressed while in your pocket. Sliding in and out of the drivers seat the steering wheel sometimes presses down on my pants pocket and activates the door closing! Quite a shocker and head banger to those getting out of the...

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

DATE is displayed like on smartphones - actually on the calendar icon! I usually keep my screen split, with the map on the bottom half so it doesn't automatically cover the top icons - then you can see the date easily, plus it doesn't take two taps of the screen (one to show the icons when...

Poll: 81% of Prospective Model 3 Owners Say They Won’t Pay Upfront For Full Self-Driving

I like the recent story I read about how the computer can (and will) be upgraded as needed in Hardware 2 AP vehicles for FSD (per Elon Musk). As for FSD definition: PRSIST - did you read the very first post? Full Self Drive... just author's shorthand for this post.

    AP2 AutoSteer swerviness...??

I have a MX P100D w/ AP Hdw 2.0 and software 8.1 17.11.45 (just installed two days ago). I have just over 6,000 miles since delivery on 12/26/16. I have noticed a faint weaving back and forth ever since auto steer was first enabled. At 70 MPH or 80 MPH (which I drove at yesterday for 15 miles)...

Radar Detector for the Model X

Glad to hear that the V1 is working for you like for me. Model S may have a stronger film over more of the WS - I don't know. I only have tested and use daily in my X. Very satisfied with performance of V1. As for Jeff Andrews' question: In some instances, yes, just too slow. :) This car can...

    HomeLink in Reverse

As I back out of my garage I make a 90 degree turn to the left so that I can then shift to forward and then drive out our drive. While I'm backing I get the 20ft - 10ft messages and then the door closes reliably each and every time since I bought the car on 12/27/17. I have been through 6...

Model X front doors un-able to open or close when car tilted

Today I noticed that when I had pulled off the pavement and parked with a very slight roll to the right (< 5 degrees), I couldn't open right FWD more than a few inches, the system complaining of an obstacle when there was none. In that same location a week ago (it's where I pick up my daughter...

Radar Detector for the Model X

I have a Valentine One and have driven with those detectors since they were first invented. I have it suctioned to the Model X windscreen about an inch to the right of the rear-view mirror and then down about 6". This permits the cable to stay off to the right of the monitor screen until I get a...

Solutions to some common issues of the Tesla

Check the Tesla Wiki under battery management. Damage begins to occur to the battery "crystals" when the charge level drops below 20%. Batteries kept above 20% and below 80% are the best treated batteries and will have a much longer life.

P100D Owners: Why did you choose P100D?

I'm with BigMskiman - Got great financing 1.74% on 90% of purchase price (essentially free money - for 6 years). Love how it drives. My other "peppy" cars like my Audi Q17 or my Yukon Denali XL just don't cut it anymore. Since we all "know" that batteries degrade over time (I've done...

Fob missing somewhere inside Model X - any guesses?

I had placed my fob in the shelf below the touch screen and when I accelerated quickly the fob moved rapidly aft. I thought for sure it had found its way under a seat, or along a seat rail, but after searching for 15 minutes, nothing. Then, I started over and found the fob in the very aft most...

I received 2.52.36 today and prior to that I was at v2.50.180 This morning I had a failure of firmware installation and it tried again and failed again. Upgrade did not happen and after I spoke with Support the update was scheduled again (w/o clock icon. Update happened without input or...

Initial 1000 HW2 cars getting AP software 12/31/16

Update on my failed firmware install this morning: I spoke with Tesla Support by phone later today and they informed me that I was not getting the .185 update. Instead I was getting some patches and fixes to the .180 update I already have. I don't have to schedule this, it will just download...

Initial 1000 HW2 cars getting AP software 12/31/16

I was notified that a software update was available. Tried install immediately. Update failed, twice. Finally told i have to wait for another update opportunity. AP 2.0 Bait and Switch?

Wow Mike, you must not be a avid tech user. If you were you would know that tech rarely ships with no bugs. Manufacturers get capable hardware out the door then they tweak the software and offer firmware upgrades to better the product. Sadly many folks rarely ever check for newer firmware on...

Can you keep the 12V outlets on when the car is off?

Use the same solution in my other cars - Infuse Pro on iPads works perfectly to play library keeping kids entertained! Haven't put a drive in my new X yet, but one's on order! Happy new year!

    Tesla - parental controls, PLEASE!

So I think a few of you got my idea... about the student driver car. Consider that student driver education is all but gone in many states. Tesla could REALLY sell a ton of units with features like all above have suggested. The car already has all the tech. Driver profiles with restrictions and...

Where do you mount your phone?

Hi Andy, I have been using smartphones in cars for many years. I run the WAZE application which, now that it's owned by Google, also gets traffic updates, usually much faster than the car's nav system. - but I digress... Your install is exactly like mine except I use a mount designed for cell...

    Unlock ≠ Open Driver's Door

I've found that if I hit the remote 3 times to close all the doors the car shuts all and then sits off while I move about the garage. It no longer responds to me walking up to the door, in fact I have to push the door open bar or hit the remote to open the door. I have to leave the key range and...

    MX LED Headlights, VERY disappointing

My new 12/27/16 XP100D with all options but towing has excellent headlights. I live in South Florida and often travel on asphalt roads with reflective lane paint in great condition. The headlights illuminate the lane paint perfectly and high-beams are extraordinary. I've previously owned a MB...

USB favorites lost after firmware update?

Try using a hyphen "-" or hypen-space "- " before the name of any folder you want sorted at the top of a folder list. Windows and Mac file folders are easily organized to the top of a file list. Also try using two or three digit numbers before folder names so that further organization is easily...

8.0 XM Channel List - Where Did it Go?

This is my exact situation as well. Firmware 2.50.180 updated 12/27/16 the evening of my delivery. Tesla - parental controls, PLEASE!

Other car manufacturers are already offering this. Lincoln has two keys for one of their models, the second key being restricted in a variety of ways selected. Geofencing alerts too. Tesla has all the hardware in place - let's hope they realize the power they have to create the PERFECT car for a...
