Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Just installed the "scan my Tesla" app and an OBDII dongle in my Model 3 (delivered Nov 2021, one of first 60kwh LFP cars). According to the app, battery was 60.5 kwh when new, and is now 56.5 kwh. Mileage is 29,915. I believe the app is just reporting numbers from the car's CAN bus, so this is...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

Yes, but only at high speed. A while back I drove cross country, (let's just say traffic was traveling over PSL, I was passing traffic, and it was all extremely remote areas) and saw 272 Wh/mi over the entire trip (no local driving....just 3,600+ miles of freeway). I only had the front lip...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

agree 100%. For me, improving efficiency is a game. It does help a little when I take a long road trip every so often...but it is really just a game. I no longer race or even autocross, so other "performance" upgrades are no longer that interesting. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I do get a...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

Yeah, the Hankook's aren't very stiff. I noticed that my aftermarket aero wheel covers rub slightly against the Hankook's. That didn't happen with the Michelin's.

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

On a related note, CCS to Tesla adapters are coming down in price (maybe because they will be obsolete before much longer). The Tesla one is still $250, but I just ordered a 3rd part unit for $67. It was UL Listed and claimed 250kW capacity with thermal monitoring. I only bought it as an...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

I've had my Hankook ION EVO AS tires for one week now....252 miles traveled. Here are my initial impressions: 1. Sound/Comfort - No question these are quieter than the MXM4's they replaced. The noise reduction is very noticeable. I should note my car (2022) has the insulated glass up front, but...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

Interesting observation, and you are correct. 18" sizes here, but amazon lists the tire as IH01: https://www.amazon.com/235-45R18-98W-HANKOOK-ION/dp/B0BSDSZTST and America's Tire lists it as BSW: https://www.americastire.com/buy-tires/hankook-ion-evo-as/p/120825 Even more interesting, my...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

Went to America's Tire this morning (owned by Discount Tire), and they price matched Amazon at $219/tire. I've only driven ~2 miles home from the store, but immediately noticed a reduction in road noise. I also reset one of my trip counters and will report back when I have more data on efficiency.

    The impact of NACS

My concern with non Tela's isn't a "us vs them" thing. It is about compatibility with cars that weren't designed for the Tesla charger. I worry about blocked stalls because the charging port is in the wrong location, people who can't get it to work because the app isn't configured correctly, or...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

Some of that difference between our results could be the car, but it could also climate. If you live in an area where the car is having to spend energy heating (or cooling) the battery, that can have an impact, not to mention cabin heating/cooling. It's also a good idea to check your brakes...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

2022 RWD here, stock MXM4's, max psi, UPF front lip and rear spoiler. I show 214 Wh/mi for the last 16k miles, of which 10k of those miles had both the UPF mods. Routinely seeing under 200 Wh/mi for trips (mainly freeway). I'm easy on the pedals, but tend to be passing everyone else on the...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

yes, I knew it wouldn't change the capacity...but was a little surprised the BMS was that accurate given my charging habits. My car rarely went below 20%, and I had only charged to 100% a few times in the last 6 months. I'm actually impressed the BMS was that accurate. 27,980 and for what it's...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

I have one of the 1st 60kwh LFP cars delivered (Nov 2021 delivery date), making it just over 2 years old. My charging habits have varied - I originally did a full charge once a week and let it run down in between, but after getting solar last summer I switched to keeping the car around 50%...

Looks like I'll be getting a set of the ION EVO's for my 2022 Model 3 RWD. 27,915 miles and I'm at 2.5/32" front, 4/32" rear. Just called America's Tire (the name Discount Tire goes by out here apparently) and they can get the all seasons in a day or so. Price has gone up....they will price...

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

Looking at your sig I'm assuming you were in a LR model. I was in a 2022 LFP (RWD) model, so significantly less range than you would have had. But I'll checkout the historic route from Kingman to Seligman. I'm assuming it is a much lower speed route and might provide more margin (even though it...

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

I had slowed down about as much as I could, but the car was insisting I'd come up short. Do keep in mind that this was nearly 2 years ago and the range estimation wasn't the greatest at that time. I was routinely arriving with significantly more charge than predicted on that trip. But not...

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

The Kingman to Flagstaff gap got me two years ago in a Model 3 RWD. It was scorching hot and the car insisted I detour down to Wickenburg, otherwise I'd never make it to Flagstaff. I should have just pressed on, but not knowing how much the climb would drain I chickened out and took the...

    SGIP Rebate Extension

Thanks everyone! You all just saved me a bunch of time and headache trying to get a rebate that won't happen. BTW, my roof tear off started last Monday. Dry in is complete, most of the metal work is done, as are a good number of the shingles/tiles. The Power wall installation starts in the...

    SGIP Rebate Extension

We only qualify for the base SGIP rebate, but Tesla is telling me they are too busy to fill out the paperwork, so we can't get the rebate. Does anyone know if (or how) to self apply? Model 3 Uberturbine Style Wheel Covers for 18"

I ordered these from Teskings and somehow wound up with an extra set. Never installed, in the box. Includes foam strip tape and Tesla center logos (not yet applied). Fits Model 3 with standard 18" wheels. Local pickup near San Jose CA only. $150 (was $259 new)

My 2022 60kWh LFP Model 3 was delivered 1 year ago today, making it one of the oldest 60kWh LFP cars in the fleet. Here is where we stand: 100% charge shows 265 miles (is this degradation or BMS calibration error? who knows, but it is small so who cares) 14,286 miles driven Charged roughly once...

    Charge Stats Still Missing

Anyone else still having issues? I'm up to date on the app (4.11.2-1215), Andriod (v13), car (2022.24.5), data sharing is enabled for all options, rebooted phone/car, quit and relaunched app, etc. I've been poking at this every so often since it was released (Feb?) but still no joy. A friend...

That really sucks. For a company that makes some amazing products, they can really suck in the customer service department. My delivery last year is an excellent example (ordered mid Sept). 3600 mile road trip in a RWD Model 3 (2022/LFP) - review

I had set the 50psi cold some time ago, but was still at 50psi when we started the trip early in the morning. As temps climbed I would periodically check the tire pressures. 56psi was the highest I saw (119F outside). I assume some air escaped, but given they are rated for 50psi cold, and that...

Ah, but it's a double edged sword. We have a similar thing here in CA - your property tax can only go up so much each year, regardless how much your home value goes up. I'm now in the position where I literally can't afford to move - even to a house of equal or lesser value, because my property...

    3600 mile road trip in a RWD Model 3 (2022/LFP) - review

Yep, property tax in Texas is pretty high. We've been looking at leaving CA (everything looks cheap compared to this place), but was shocked when I calculated the tax bills for the places in Texas we were considering. BTW, for CA bay area , ~10% sales tax (even on new cars, exact rate depends...

    3600 mile road trip in a RWD Model 3 (2022/LFP) - review

I just completed a trip from SJ CA to Dallas TX and back in my 2022 RWD Model 3. For reasons I won't go into, I needed to make a family trip to the Dallas area in...

Traveling I-40 across AZ an NM, tips?

well, just got back from my trip. Fortunately I never had to wait for a charger, though I did have to share power a few times and snagged one of the few remaining spots several times. It certainly appears vehicle production is greatly outpacing super charger instillations and waits will be more...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

The LFP batteries are pretty new. At least here in the US, 55kwh LFP batteries appeared in small numbers starting late summer, early fall 2021, and the 60kwh LFP model became the RWD/Standard range model for the 2022 year model, which started shipping Nov 2021. Not sure about the UK, but over...

Discussion: Tesla Energy / Auto Customer Service

I decided to go with a Tesla solar roof about 6 months ago, started the process, talked to an advisor, all was good. Bay Area recommendations for window Tinting?

Bay Area recommendations for window Tinting?

Looking to get a Model 3 tinted in the bay area and found this thread. Thanks for the recommendations. FYI I called YS Window Tinting and was told they can only tint the bottom half of the rear window as they don't carry large enough material (I assume the Y would be the same story). Mr Tint in...

Blendmount radar mount doesn't work for model Y :(

Well, I was doing it in the dark with a headlamp, which probably made it harder than it should have been, LoL. Basically I took it all apart and flipped each part around until I found orientations that worked. Trying to follow the pictures in the install guide or assuming how it was assembled...

Blendmount radar mount doesn't work for model Y :(

I whish I had seen this thread earlier. I recently ordered a blendmount for my model 3 and just discovered it won't fit (not unless you don't care about positioning the rear view mirror to a useful position. Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Note: ABRP defaults to 247 wh/mi @65mph for the 2022 Model 3 RWD. With my personal 2022 Model 3 RWD I have measured 232 wi/mi at 70mph and 60 deg F. Maybe I have a fluke car, but I doubt it. I do run my tires at max psi though, so perhaps ABRP assumes you are at 35psi or something like that.
  43. T

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

And while we are on LFP basics, it is worth re-iterating that LFP batteries are much less prone to fires than other chemistries currently in use. I've seen a few news reports of Tesla fires recently (newsworthy because they are rare), but none have been LFP vehicles. Remember, the only stupid...

Improving the Model 3 Aerodynamics (for range)?

LoL! But there is more truth in that statement than many realize. Check this out: I have a 30 mile test loop that I run - 15 miles out, 15 miles back, run late at night so no traffic, 70mph with Autopilot, reset the trip meter after stable at speed and crossing a set marker, measure at end at...

Traveling I-40 across AZ an NM, tips?

Yep, I did look into the CCS adapter. Looks like some folks in the US have successfully ordered it from Tesla in Korea...I haven't decided if I'll try that or not. I don't see the CHAdeMO adapter listed on Tesla's site anymore....just as well, probably not a good investment at this point. Oh...

Awesome! Thanks everyone! Good to hear they are equally well maintained and the problem of waiting queues isn't widespread...

Traveling I-40 across AZ an NM, tips?

I'll be making a road trip from CA to TX and back this July in my M3 RWD. Other than Albuquerque, it appears the only...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

That depends on what kind of range loss you are asking about. Reported range loss that is really a BMS calibration error - yes, there are some threads elsewhere regarding that. Real range loss from battery degradation - none that I know of, though I'm sure there are lab experiments that claim...
