Has anyone gone from a 911 to a Plaid?

I'm not talking about a road course. It's been a few years, but I'm a trained track instructor (car as well as motorcycle) and I have plenty of experience driving in all types of environments. No matter how you look at it, the Tesla is a very heavy vehicle. If you're driving on a public road...

Has anyone gone from a 911 to a Plaid?

[EDIT: Looks like you already made a decision. I like it!] I have a 2018 911 GT3 (991.2 generation) and a Model S Long Range (2022 model year, non-Plaid). They are COMPLETELY different vehicles and I'm going to assume anyone who has experience/own these vehicles has a full understanding of...

    Model S Cheap?

As others have said, this is a reasonable price. 52K miles and out of warranty. Might be a good option to explore a 3rd party warranty for a few thousand dollars for some piece of mind and pick up the car. It is a great vehicle.

Yoke Steering Wheel please post a picture if you dont see the Yoke-Worm

Mine is a 2022 and barely able to be seen. In person, I don't really see it but in this photo you can barely make it out. VIN ends in 490920

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

Hard to describe without feeling it yourself. It isn't a slouch, but it isn't that impressive. Does it accelerate faster than a standard family sedan? For sure. But nothing Earth shattering. Above 120ish, is where "real" sports cars really start to shine. I have a naturally aspirated 911...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

People do realize that the round wheel is simply that, right? The functionality (no stalks, turn signals/horn by your thumbs) remain the same. So if THAT'S what you don't like about the yoke, well I got some bad news for you. I don't mind the yoke. I just don't like the horn placement. It...

    Yet another "in spec" question

That's certainly not in-spec and I've had smaller issues on my Model S remediated. I'm not even that picky as I get older, but the OP's picture of the bumper misalignment would seriously annoy me. If my mom (who doesn't care at all about cars) can notice it, then it isn't "in-spec". :P

Tesla TV apps (Netflix etc) frame rate = bad.

Okay, well let me rephrase. I'm an audiophile and into home theater as well. Does the Tesla screen rival a very good TV designed for home theater? It certainly does not. Can I tell the difference between a good TV and my Tesla screen when streaming Netflix or higher quality YouTube? A...

    New changes to Model S

Yeah, probably nothing at all. HOWEVER, Tesla makes changes all the time. Maybe this new iteration has some sort of wiring behind the airbag to support horn functionality. I know the old ones did not (Munro confirmed it). Impossible to know until someone gets their hands on it. Still smart...

Tesla TV apps (Netflix etc) frame rate = bad.

You may be in the minority here, as I've never had a problem. Nobody I personally know has problems either. This is also the first post I've personally seen about this issue. Some questions/comments: - Are you sitting on your driveway on your home wifi? Maybe the signal isn't that strong and...

    New changes to Model S

Has anyone actually confirmed what "higher thermal capability brake calipers" mean? I'm likely wrong, but it is hard to believe there is a significant difference like additional pistons, etc. Otherwise they would clearly say it. This sounds like a marketing phrase for something simple like...

S LR / Plaid tinted roof makes it useless

That's interesting. I have a 2022 Model S, and the glass roof is extremely dark, much darker than I anticipated prior to receiving the car. During a hot summer day, I can look up DIRECTLY at the sun with no issue. Not even a tiny amount of discomfort or "I shouldn't be looking at the sun". I...

Anyone installed refreshed oem spoiler on older Model S?

I recently installed the RPM Plaid replica on my 2022 Long Range. According to the install video from RPM, the Plaid spoiler can fit on the refresh and pre-refresh models. Yes, but note the OEM one is matte. RPM offers both gloss and matte. If you want to mirror OEM, make sure you get the...

Is there a way to move the turning screens higher nearer the top of the display. 2022 Model S

When you say "turning screens", are you referencing the camera view when using turn signals? Currently they show on the lower middle of the center screen. I do agree that it isn't a very good area since you have to take your eyes far off from the road to check it. I would have thought there...

Teslas in Calif. with no front plate: Question

I will chime in here. Personally I do not like the look of vehicles with front plates. I've lived in New Jersey for over 30 years and now California for the last 10-12. Both states require a front plate. I have NEVER had a front plate on any of my vehicles and I can count on one hand the...

Anyone put MYP tires on 21" Arachnids?

What do you consider "cold"? I've run PS4S on multiple RWD sports cars over the years and under 45-50 degrees F, the rear end just floats. Need to make a slow 90 degree right turn from a stop sign? Rear end slides out at 15mph under light acceleration. Surprisingly not a lot of understeer...

    Mileage on MSLR

Oh I understand completely. I'm not new to how this works. Just saying what I'm showing has been very accurate so far in the last 3 weeks. I have a heavy foot (I usually drive high power vehicles).

    Mileage on MSLR

I've only had my Long Range for ~3 weeks. Charging to 90% gets me almost 350 miles. Anecdotal of course, but its been pretty consistent. You getting 370 on a full charge seems low. I did get down to 20% on Monday and it showed 82 miles left. Charged to 90% and I think it was ~350. Maybe...

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

I'm not that bothered. So far they've been accommodating and fixing things as I bring them up. They haven't been building cars like Ford for 150+ years so I'm not as picky as I would normally be. No misaligned panels or anything TOO serious so I'm okay.

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Haven't posted here yet, so I'll share some of my issues. Overall, nothing terrible. As I get older, I find I'm less and less concerned about the small things :). My only real issue is my PPF appointment was now pushed out a couple of weeks due to Tesla service needing to fix things...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

I have a 2022 Long Range and based on what I'm reading here, I'm slightly concerned that nobody has hit the advertised 0-60 yet. I'm not banking on Tesla doing anything though. Anyway, I don't think the other poster meant any disrespect. As a car guy (not sure if you are?) who has owned/still...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

20K? That's extraordinarily high based on my experience. I typically own/drive higher horsepower vehicles and summer tires in the rear will typically last 5-8K miles only.

Ordered a plaid a week ago .. delivery this week?

I wouldn't assume it was a reject/repair/cancellation. Plaids are often in inventory based on my experience. Ask them for the details and compare the VIN to other ones coming out.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

You're in SoCal like me. I got Pirelli PZeros. In my opinion, that's what you want in this area. I've never been a fan of all seasons (jack of all trades, master of none). I also take trips up north (skiing/snowboarding) and all seasons are useless in any real snow. They either require...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Well after almost 11 months, here we are. Sadly I've been extremely sick the last week or so, so I haven't had any play time at all. Drove it home, parked in garage, and briefly played with some settings on the screen. That's it. :( Car looked beautiful. No issues except one sorta major...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Small update on my end. 10/22/21 - Ordered 8/31/22 - Assigned VIN (via text, tried the VIN search on the web source the day before and nothing) 9/1 - Scheduled delivery for 9/13 (had options from 9/12 to 9/16). Was to be a touchless home delivery. 9/7 - Called Tesla support, asked to switch...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Thanks. I ordered just now anyway. Worst case, it is a spare and I don't really need anything else on the site at this time. Here's what the email said, "Prepare for delivery and consider a charging solution for your Model S. You may use the Tesla Shop code below to put $200 towards a Tesla...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Thanks. Getting ready to order it now, but I saw this note on the page: "Note: Vehicle orders placed after April 28, 2022 will not include a Mobile Connector with delivery." Since I ordered 10/2021 it would sound like I should get it, right?

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Tried going back a bunch of pages, but can't find it. - What comes with the car now in terms of cabling/charging adapters? I received a $200 credit toward charging stuff on the Tesla website and not sure what I need to buy. I'm going to have a 14-50 plug in the garage. I ordered October...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Well that was fast. Got a text today scheduling delivery for the 12th, 13th, or 14th right to my home ("touchless"). Interesting since the center is only a few miles from me and open. But hey, can't complain. So I'm getting insurance now. If I'm financing, how do I do it? I want to make...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

After about 11 months (original EDD of June 2022), I got a VIN today! It is an NF490xxx so I'm hoping it is a good one. It's been a while since I kept up with all that.

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Small update from my end. My EDD window keeps getting pushed out. Most recently from 8/17-9/3 to 8/23-9/13. I was close! :P I emailed my guide out of curiosity since dates were close to see if he had any additional info. He said he sees my delivery in the last 2 weeks of September. I'm...

Red/Cream PLAID and LR Waiting Room.

That isn't my spec, but I did get a call from Tesla saying there was a red/cream Model S with upgraded wheels for immediately delivery. In ~15 minutes, they said it was sold. I wasn't going to switch from black to cream, but I thought that was interesting. This was a couple of weeks ago.

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Received a text from my Tesla guide: "Hi, Alex from Tesla! Just tried to call you. Would you be interested in a Model S Long Range, red exterior with creeam interior and 21" wheels? This car is available for immediate delivery. Please let me know either way. Thanks." I asked about the...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Got a text/call from Tesla a few days ago and noticed my date went to 6/27 to 7/15. Looked this morning, 9/5 to 10/31 lols. What the heck. I know dates jump around a lot here but based on what I'm reading from others, I think mine jumped the most often starting when I placed the order...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Congrats on receiving it! I got a red one coming just like yours. I also have an X5M and I feel (felt?) your pain. $120/week in gas. For Costco trips, even though it is a SUV it doesn't carry THAT much if you have two passengers and a car seat. Based on my friends who have Model Ss, I...

    Trunk Spoiler

Browsed through this thread and seeing a lot of aftermarket "styles" which are different than the OEM. Outside of Tesla (what's the normal price, and can you even buy it from them?), where can I find a 2021/2022 refresh spoiler that is exactly the same as OEM? Is this one of them? Model S...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Out of the blue, got a text from Tesla asking if I was interested in trading in. Went to check my account page and my delivery went from 8/5-9/15 to 6/27-7/18. Wow, I guess it is getting closer!

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

So this is interesting. I chatted with a Tesla rep last week (or it may have been a little over) and she stated I should have my car in June. EDD was showing Jun 11th to July 23rd. It has been that way for months. When I initially ordered it said "June 2022". It fluctuated a bit here and...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

Small update on mine. I actually called Tesla for the first time to see if there was any information outside of what my account says. When I ordered my red MS LR October of last year it said June 2022. Between now and then it fluctuated many times, even moving to early April (which has...

2021+ Model S LR Delivery Tracking

My EDD has been May 3rd to May 31st for a long long time. This morning it changed to June 11th to June 23rd. Wonder if this is an early sign it'll bump back down and I'll get a VIN. Let's see! My neighbor gets his Model Y Performance delivered today (he ordered in December).
  46. S

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

If you can only have one, I'd choose the one that's more useful to you. I acknowledge the Y is more useful and considered it for a hot second, but personally I wasn't a fan of the style. Plus in my area, every 3rd car is a Model 3 or Y. For the 1% of the time I'll need the utility of the Y, I...

Numbers for the MSLR certainly look great. I just wish there were more videos on YouTube. Too much Plaid content :P.

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

Thanks for the reply. 10.anything in the quarter is very respectable. I haven't actually seen any videos showing this, have any links? That means there's definitely a lot of pull after 60mph. I think the Model 3 Performance is a hair over 11.5 seconds which is a significant difference...

This is my understanding. But it doesn't hurt to call/email/chat with Tesla to confirm.

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

I'm typically a lurker here, but I haven't been able to find much regarding the performance of the Model S Long Range (refresh). Every video/review out there is talking about the Plaid. I get it, it is fast. But what about the Long Range? Specs on paper are impressive. Same as prior Model S...
