Traction control devices for snow (California)

I have lived in the Lake Tahoe area for about 13 years, and I do not remember any R3 chain requirements here. When it's so bad, they close the road. On the other hand, California law requires carrying chains during R1 or R2 chain requirements in all vehicles (in 13 years, no one checked if I had...

Traction control devices for snow (California)

California Code of Regulations, Title 13 - Motor Vehicle, Division 2 - Department of the California Highway Patrol, Chapter 4 - Special Equipment, Article 13 - Tire Traction Devices, Section 1071 - Definitions (d) Snow-tread tires, commonly referred to as mud and snow tires, are pneumatic tires...

    Tesla and MyQ

Yes, I received the same answer. But they told me, that it may be implemented in future... Maybe. I don't understand what is the problem. It works fine with the Android/iOS apps. Without supporting myQ gates it is not very useful for me.

MyQ shows garages but not gates?

I spoke today to myQ support and they confirmed that the gates are not supported. They mentioned that gates should be supported in future but no date. Without gates supported it's not much useful for me. I don't know why it is such a big problem to add gates...

What features do you wish the Model Y came with (Dec 2022/Jan 2023) Wishlist

    1. Bird's eye view (add front camera) 2. Put back ultrasound sensors 3. FSD Beta 11 (merge FSD nad AP stack) 4. Hands free driving similar to Super cruise on selected roads (Tesla has a camera inside so it should not be a problem) 5. Blinds spot monitor in rearview mirrors + RCTA 6. HUD 7...

Traction control devices for snow (California)

I live at Lake Tahoe for more than 10 years. I've never seen R3 in person, just twice on the online map between Tahoe City and Truckee. If it's R3, they almost always close the road. You should be O.K. with all season tires with 6/32" (5 mm) tread depth on chain controls. I still would not...

NEW MODEL Y 18 inch at Tsportline?!

I did. This is my MYP with them. No issues.

NEW MODEL Y 18 inch at Tsportline?!

I ordered them from T Sportline, mounted on my MYP and they are great. I received my MYP in December last year. I mounted 19" wheels with winter tires and now I was searching for something I could use for the rest of the year. No way I would use these terrible 21" Uberturbines. There is a...

    Rim size and tire size

Why would anyone do it? We all try to replace 21" Uberturbines with 19" wheels for more comfortable driving...

Model Y Performance or Model S Plaid?

I've been in a similar situation. I decided for MYP because I strongly prefer a steering wheel over the stupid yoke.

    Home charging advice

Nema 14-50 is better, you can use it with any other EVs. It's a little bit slower but it still can charge your Tesla overnight without any issues. Yes, you will probably need a second mobile cable to avoid plugging and unplugging. But the costs are not so high.

Need some advice on winter in Tahoe

It's much better now around Lake Tahoe. Just be careful and do not drive here if it would be bad as in the last few days (see for example here: 'It was terrible': Reno couple trapped in Tahoe traffic snarl describe 16-hour ordeal). And if it would be really bad, it's much better not trying to...

Need some advice on winter in Tahoe

Currently, it does not look good here at Lake Tahoe area. I-80, hwy 88 and hwy 50 closed. You plan to go here probably by hwy 395 but it's also closed due to snow. More snow should be coming also next week. You dont want to drive an electric vehicle with limited range at these conditions. You...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

This is a reply I received from Tesla: "I wanted to let you know that we reviewed your concern. As of November 18th of this year we no longer install the USB C ports that allow data in the front of the vehicle. They are only intended to charge a device. At this time we will be canceling your...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

I tried it today. We'll see what happens. I suppose that they will decline and let me know that it works as intended.

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

You can use only the USB A port in the glovebox for game controllers or to play music. All other USB ports are for charging only.

    “TESLA” in headlights

Yes, I agree. But they have to do it and I hope that it won't take two years. It's a big difference. I use them when I drive in Europe and really miss them here in the USA.

    “TESLA” in headlights

Matrix headlights are now legal here in the USA (part of the Infrastructure Bill). Just some final regulations have to be finalized. I am not quite sure how long it can take. But I would bet, that Teslas will be the first cars using matrix headlights on the US roads. See more here...

Compatible game controllers for 2022 MYLR

I think that it's not so much about saving costs. This time it's more about the chip shortage. BTW, I use Logitech F310 gamepad with my 2022 MYP and it works fine (I use Anker USB Hub connected to USB A in the glovebox).
  20. C

Compatible game controllers for 2022 MYLR

Where do you connect them? 2022 Model Y has front USB-C for charging only. You need to use data USB in the glovebox.

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

I confirm this. I have 2022 MYP, both front USB ports are USB C and are for charging only :-(

    How to dampen road/wind noise?

I worry that there is nothing what can be done. I compared my Lexus RX to my MYP and there is a substantional difference not only in noise but also in ride comfort (it can be slightly improved with 19" wheels and lower tire pressure). I am waiting for an electric vehicle from Lexus (or Toyota...

Camera cleaning driving in snow storms

100% agree. And a radar also would not help. I can confirm that a radar based adaptive cruise control stops working in a snowstorm also after a few minutes. And, don't forget to clean your headlights. I suppose that Model Y does not have heated LED headlights, so they will be probably covered by...

Model Y Performance - Winter Tire Options?

Most 19" wheels work fine on Model Y Performance., no problems with calipers. I purchased 19" wheel winter package on TireRack (Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 tires).
