Was looking to purchase a 3rd Generation Tesla Wall Connector via forums and marketplace listings and realized there appears to be two packaging that both look like 3rd Gen (one with handle in the picture and one without).
Anyone know what the difference, if any, between the two are?
You can’t really revert back due to the appliqué change though right?
And since the trunk light is plug and play, it’s only the external panel corner lights that you had to Frankenstein right?
I had to go to SC - they replaced to switch control module in the console. Some SCs replaced the Center console altogether.
Took my SC 3 days though, doesn’t seem like it’s something mobile service can do, quite invasive.
I’m surprised no one has come out with aftermarket headlights / taillights after ~10 years of Model S on the legacy lights.
Guess it is a small market.
Was the switch on the lid.
I had my console wrapped with the TWraps carbon fiber wrap so I asked them if it was possible to salvage it.
They took it apart and replaced just the control module on it, so the original console was preserved. Took them 4 days on the repair.
I played with it today...
They managed to fix it without replacing the entire console, by changing to console control module, and they did a thorough cleaning of the interior too. Saves me the trouble of having to re-wrap a new console :)
Nothing broken discovered thus far and the light switch now works properly. Two...
They’ve had the car for two days now, still working through it. Either they have tried to fix the switch without replacing the console trim part yet, replaced the top but realized they also need to replace the console base, or I don’t know what.
Keeping fingers crossed
Brought this up during my service appointment for something else. Rep noted this would be something really hard for them to test as they can’t take the car up to those speeds on a test drive.
Makes sense I guess.
see attached 3 screenshots, one showing the entire console assembly, one showing the “base” of the console you guys all got replaced (part labelled 1 in the diagram) and the part they ordered (part labelled 9).
Hopefully the screenshots are clear enough.
Tesla replied and said part ordered was...
I checked the parts catalogue.
It looks like part 4400 is the actual consol frame with drawers, and part 4416 they ordered is the drawer cover / lid (the wood trim)
For those that got it replaced and is now working, what part revision did you get?
They sent me a service estimate and it looks like the part they ordered is revision E.
That’s actually an interesting comment, I’ve never thought of that. I guess since our switches are reversed, the lights would always be open if my lid is closed, even when parked?
Following, I have the same issue at around 130-140km/hr, so similar at 80-85mph.
Discovered on both my 19” winters and 21” stock summers. Don’t recall always having it, so it was something that developed midway. At about 6,000 miles.
How easy is it to turn this screen on when you want to use it?
And for refresh model S folks, where do you store the screen so the wiring to the power doesn’t show? In the deep Center console drawer?
Well, they pushed my service appt back 2 weeks saying parts haven’t arrived yet, so hopefully it means they are willing to at least try to fix it. Presumably the “part” means a centre console that works .
Did they give you the bigger rear screen with the replacement? I’m worried they are going to use that as the reason for not replacing mine as I have the smaller rear screen
Would you possibly have the service of the replacement console when they actually replaced it for the light issue? I think the two you shared are the subsequent ones after they broke the prior one.
Thanks again in advance. Booked an appointment for Friday, fingers crossed.
I don’t really care as much about the rear screen as I never use it - in fact, I’m hoping that’s not an excuse they use for not fixing my cubby lights. They can replace it or fix current and save me trouble of re-wrapping the centre console.
I am just worried I go in, they have no clue how to...
Know this has been a year+ issue now, with people getting mixed results when they take it to service centres (either replies on “that’s how it should be”, or a coin flip on whether it gets fixed or not).
For the people who got newer 2022/2023 builds, are you bottom compartment center console...
Now if only they sold the refresh refresh lights and tilting screen retrofit kit for like $3-4k…
Maybe if they become revenue strapped enough, they’ll consider it.
Ah well… now if only tesla was as willing to offer a paid headlight retrofit. I’d pay $5k for the front and rears :)
This 16gb vs 8gb ram for games is silly, but I just hope it doesn’t prevent future updates on key useful stuff.
I wonder if anyone with an early refresh build even got the update yet. Perhaps the update is first pushed to cars with the sufficient tech to support the features.
If
If mine doesn’t say anything at all, does it mean I don’t have 16gb of ram? Granted I didn’t get the new update yet, so not sure if the RAM line came with the new update
