Adding a breaker to Tesla Energy Gateway for Wall Connector

Your gateway is configured differently than mine. Mine just had a 100 amp breaker going the main house panel. The breakers for solar system were in different panel that is connected to the gateway. The reason I put the charger breaker into the gateway is that the main panel was full.

This will be nice. I don’t like stopping at the one in Alvarado, as the intersection with 917 sucks.

Tesla EV Tax Credits coming back?

    Titlegirl?

Titlegirl is just an authorized agent for the county tax office. They can do registrations and title transfers. When I bought my MYP I used a place called CenTex Auto Title. The country tax accessor was by appointment only and the soonest appointment was 6 weeks out. They charged a small fee, I...

Got my MYP back after an accident. Looks better than new tbh

I’ve got a Mustang convertible that I don’t drive very much since I bought the MYP. In the past 4 months I’ve used 3/8th of a tank of gas in it. It is pretty much for cruising the hill country on a nice day and we haven’t had many of those lately. I’ve thought about selling it because the...

2022 Model Y Performance - Dallas to Austin Roadtrip*

Where abouts are you coming from in the Dallas area? I’ve done North Austin to Alvarado. I left with 100% and got there with about 35% left. However if you are coming from somewhere further up north like McKinney or Allen you might be pushing it. Though no way you’ll make it going 85. I...

    Wall Connector Install Cost

Even spending a couple of grand on a charger install will be much cheaper than using the supercharger in the long run. Down here is Texas the supercharger costs 3 times what I pay at home for electricity. If your breaker box is full you can likely replace a couple of breakers with skinny...

Schedule Service option not on the App

When I’ve gotten that message I got to support in the app and there is a button to click on to schedule the service appointment. You can also give them a call at the number that ucmndd mentioned. They’ve always been real helpful when I’ve called.

    Supercharger - Georgetown, TX

The whole Temple area is a fast charging desert. There are no CCS chargers there either. There is a Buc-ee’s in Temple. Tesla and Buc-ee’s signed an agreement to put Superchargers in all their locations. So there will probably be one coming soon.

Why so many “outages" [recorded by my system]

When Powerwall detects an outage it wait 5 minutes after utility power is restored to switch back. This is to give the grid a chance to stabilize before transferring back. I had Powerwalls installed in March 2022. Since then I had logged over 50 outages. Most about about 5 minutes long. Then...

Two months after my Model Y - My thoughts

For your AC issue, try manually setting the fan speed. On my MYP I’ve noticed that it tends to set the fan too low and I get hot. I just use the voice commands to bump up the fan a few notches and soon the car cools right off.

    F150 Lightning truck 131kWh battery for $52k

Pre pandemic they were producing around 900k per year. Sure the supply constraints have held back production. I was also talking about all F Series trucks, not just the F150.

    F150 Lightning truck 131kWh battery for $52k

Last year Ford had stated that the F150 Lighting is margin positive. They never said how positive through. However with the recent run up in materials cost, I can’t see how they are making a profit. Good news is they sell nearly a million ICE trucks a year, which are incredibly profitable. So...

CCS - buy now or wait?

Yep when I go up to Kansas there is a supercharger in the parking lot of an ok restaurant. A couple of miles away there is one a EA charger at a Walmart. I prefer the Walmart location as I can just grab a sandwich and snacks for the road. Plus I can walk around the store a bit to stretch my legs.

Anyone using the 20" non-foam tires?

I have non-foam Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 on 20” T-sportline TST wheels. When I first got the tires they were louder than the factory Pirellis, but after a couple hundred miles they quited down.

SHOULD TESLA BE WORRIED? (2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB Starts at $10k Less Than a Tesla Model Y)

The Korean CCS adapter of which you speak is a Tesla branded adapter. Just right now Tesla only sells it in South Korea. Which is why you need to use one of the proxy services to buy it. I have one and it came in a Tesla box. If you don’t need now though, it is probably a good idea to wait for...

In the app go to settings -> Powerwall. Select Time based control. Then select the button right below that to enter your plans. So plans are prepopulated so you can just select it. If your plan is not in there you can enter you plan, with the prices for peak and off peak. It will use solar +...

    Austin airport parking with charging

So I’ll be flying out of Bergstrom here in a few weeks, and I’ll be gone for a week. It takes about 10% battery to drive from my house to the airport. Finally Got FSD Beta

I too got the FSD Beta this morning. I gave it a try when I went to lunch. It got confused at the intersection at the end of my road. Instead of turning it pulled into someones driveway. Once I got past that it did ok, but it drives like a nervous teenager that just got their learners permit.

Texas owners: Free nights or Net metering

That’s interesting. I though the smart meter communicated back over the power grid. I’m in an Oncor area and according to my google search, they have completed their upgrades. I do remember an Oncor guy coming out to work on my meter a few years ago. Guess that is when they swapped it out.

    What's everyone's electricity bill increase to/by?

I have solar, so it doesn’t cost me anymore out of pocket every month. However I have I amortized my system over 20 years, and with my expected out put it will cost me $.15/kWh. With my current driving it is using about $45 worth of my solar every month. Not bad at all. I was easily spending 3...

On a trip up to Kansas today. Pull into the Ardmore, OK Supercharger with 15% left. There are 10 cars in line. Open up Plugshare and there is a Electrify America charger 2 miles away. Pull up to the EA charger and there is only 1 car there. Pull out my CCS adapter, and the car starts charging...

Texas owners: Free nights or Net metering

I have a 12 kW system and 3 Powerwalls. I am on the Green Mountain Energy free nights plan. It is free from 8PM to 6AM and $.24/kWh from 6AM to 8PM. The batteries and solar are enough to cover me through the day. Sometimes I end up fully charging the batteries during the day and end up putting...

5700 Mile Model Y Road Trip noob style

I watched Doug DeMuro’s video this morning on if he would buy an EV. One of the reasons he said it wouldn’t work for him is his fequent cross country drives. Too long of charging stops. That got me to thinking. I know some people like to minimize travel time. They’ll drive for 5 or 6 hours only...

I just received my delivery from Harumio. I was surprised that DHL delivered on a Sunday. I was out at a movie, and my sister grabbed the package off the porch for me. She was all excited to see what I ordered from Korea. It was a bit anti-climatic when it was a power adapter for the car. I...

Advice about Tesla own insurance and it's really high premium

Being that you are in Texas, try getting a quote from Mercury Insurance. I’ve had them for several years and their rates are pretty good. I have them for home owners too, and they didn’t give me any hassle about paying out for roof replacement claim last year after a hail storm. I am paying...

I found the link on their site and it says it doesn’t need your log in anymore. So I ordered one. This will be handy. When I go visit my parent there is an EA charger down the road, but the Supercharger is about 10 miles away.

    NEMA L 15-20 20a 250v receptacle OK for Tesla Y?

$85 dollars is a great price for that adapter in my opinion. They can’t be making much money on that. The parts alone would be $65 to $70. Then you got labor to put it together.

    Austin area wheel repair

I just replaced the 21” Uberturbines on my MYP with some 20” wheels. I want to sell the 21” wheels, but unfortunately I have a bit of curb rash on one of the wheels. Figure it will be easier to sell if I repair it first. Looking for a suggestion of a shop in Central Texas. I’m just outside...
