    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Yes, and let's see he is based in Michigan. Now, what car companies are based in Michigan - ahhh yes Ford, GM and Chrysler. Could that explain his Tesla hostility?

Does the FSD recall mean we're finally getting Beta V11? | TMC Podcast #35

5++ minutes late? Well, they have quite a ways to go to match Elon’s “next week”

    HW4 leak: 1 fewer camera

The existing camera module has video and power, so the new module should be plug-n-pray assuming the wiring harness can take the extra power to supply the heater elements, my guess is yes since it wouldn't need much power to resistively heat such a small area.

    HW4 leak: 1 fewer camera

Aside from the HW4 computer upgrade details, the camera's all sound retrofittable to the existing fleet since no new location.

    FSD Beta 10.69

He is likely referring to the Guardians roller coaster only at Disney Epcot in Florida. That is the funnest roller coaster I have ever experienced, you have positive G's, Negative G's, Centrifugal G's, sometimes combined with each other in a dark environment with planets projected spinning...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Flawless, but only some of the time ;) Case in point - was driving on a 5 lane limited access highway in Northern California (the 280) and during the day was in the middle lane, with light traffic, and spotted a full size aluminum ladder in my lane. Autopilot was on, and would have been happy to...

FSD Beta Attempts to Kill Me; Causes Accident

Well the video is gone, and it has been quiet, so perhaps an NDA between OP and Tesla.

    FSD Beta 10.69

10.69.2.3 appears to not weave on wide residential streets towards parked cars. The earlier versions would drift close towards the edge of streets just narrowly missing parked cars by drifting back to center and then again drifting towards to the streets edge. Very odd, un-humanlike behavior...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

There are some superchargers that are drive into stalls rather than reverse. You wouldn't be able to back into these because your charge port would be way past the supercharger kiosk and on the wrong side. There is (at least) one in the San Diego area that is this way.

Poll: 3 years from now, would you rather pay for $20K for FSD or $20K for Tesla Bot?

Buy the bot, and have it drive you in whatever car you want. And, wait in line for tickets, and pickup your food, do your errands etc.

FSD Beta Pulls Out Cutting Off Cars

It did the same thing to me this morning (really the first time since .2). Medium speed UPL that gave up in the middle of the lane because of cross traffic. Had to take over and drive it into the median turning lane and wait for traffic to clear. It also creeped pretty far, but still...

    FSD BETA 10.69.2 FAILS POLL

Haven't seen any running of lights/signs yet, much better speed control - still more work to do but looking much better than this older poll for 10.12 https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/fsd-beta-10-12-fails-poll.272817/#post-6882861

Muuuuuch smoother! Residential and UPL. Will need to try more complex areas and roundabouts.

NHTSA Close to forcing recall of FSD after more crashes

They're not where they need to be, but they have put some amount of thought into redundancy of their autonomous tech.

NHTSA Close to forcing recall of FSD after more crashes

It's a lot more rigorous regulatory environment with aircraft. The manufacturers of all systems have to prove they operate as specified and then the FAA oversees that and certifies it. It's the Wild West with autonomous driver tech, the regulatory environment is not very strict and only does...

NHTSA Close to forcing recall of FSD after more crashes

No, but the airlines are paying millions for it when they buy the plane.
  27. D

NHTSA Close to forcing recall of FSD after more crashes

They have thought about it in the past, the proof is redundant autopilot computer processing, and redundant steering rack controllers. If they expected human oversight at all times those redundant components would be unnecessary.

    FSD Beta 10.13

Another of my predictive polls: FSD will or will not be achieved with "vision only". VOTE NOW!

Problem with Comma, is Hotz just posted on Discord that Comma is burning $200K/month and is no longer profitable. The Comma-3 is double as expensive as the Comma-2 and the functionality, at the moment, is about the same for many cars and it just doesn't make sense to buy their next version...

Another of my predictive polls: FSD will or will not be achieved with "vision only". VOTE NOW!

Lidar/radar doesn't read speed limit signs like a human can, but a camera should be able to easily. In California, an unposted speed limit means use the "basic speed law" which currently is 55mph or safe for conditions (fog/rain etc). Lacking any other valid source, the driver would have to...

    Karpathy leaves - what's next for AP/FSD?

Probably will never know why for sure, but being the head of Vision and the phantom breaking that has been going on so long that the NHTSA opened an investigation can't be a positive. AI day, coming up, might offer some answers to who is taking the reins and what the revised^11 roadmap will...

    FSD V GM CRUISE

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/file/cruise_060322-pdf It figures it was a Prius that caused the crash. Cruise had to be towed away.

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Individual failures are one thing, but fleet wide failures is a design problem.
  42. D

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Oops, another reason FSD Beta is different. Car fleet doesn‘t suddenly go inop. https://thelastdriverlicenseholder.com/2022/06/29/driverless-robotaxi-fleet-paralyzed-for-hours-in-san-francisco/
  43. D

    FSD V GM CRUISE

That's 10 miles/second around the clock for the fleet. Just how many Waymo's are there driving around SF... You would think they would be all over the place, but they are not. Unless they mean "San Francisco Bay Area" and not just the city.
  44. D

    FSD V GM CRUISE

I will say I was in SF a couple of weeks ago and FSD Beta did great (no interventions) around Japantown, and USF. No jumping curbs, no running over people, no hitting green poles. My route went right through down town next to the sales force tower, but didn't bother to use it as I got close...

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Those are great maps. It will be truly impressive when a driverless system can reliably handle the mayhem of downtown with grid lock traffic, delivery trucks, double and triple parked cars, pedestrians running every which way, traffic intersections with weird angles, and then the trolley on top...
  47. D

    FSD V GM CRUISE

FSD Beta “struggles” in a similar way. It was put in quotes to look at the two as reacting similarly, although the Tesla is not geofenced.
  48. D

    FSD V GM CRUISE

It is just not a challenging area of SF, if it can handle downtown then that’s a different story. Also, reliability is unknown. That’s a pretty beefy sensor platform with moving parts.
  49. D

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Uh huh. I'm very familiar with all of SF. It is geofenced to an area that is not congested. Let's see how it does around Market St downtown. Oh, and here is the video not sped-up. Looks like it "struggles" too. Funny how speeding up these driving videos makes everything look so fluid... Again...

    FSD V GM CRUISE

Yes, it would initially probably work like car ownership in Tokyo today. If you can’t prove you have a garage space for a car, you can’t get (register) a car. In the future in urban centers if you don’t have a garage spot, you will be limited to robotaxis or other forms of ppublic transport.
