you're probably cutting the evoffer motor cable that pulls the hood closed. maybe it is stuck closed and wont release? that cable is like a bicycle shift cable. it's a metal coated coiled cable housing that surrounds a shift cable. whatever tool you're using to cut will need good leverage. the...

it's best to test drive the y since you have experience with the 3. test drives are free. both handle differently. Y has the hepa filter and 3 doesnt. i feel like the y has a stronger brake regen then the 3. my experience is with the 2023 y and a loaner 2017 3 LR

yes it's a zinc coating on machined cast iron and will eventually rust.
