In toolbox one of them is saying retrofit power trunk, that option didn't show until a week ago or so, that one I don't believe needs any different body parts, but that is probably specific to non us markets

I think getting the OEM power trunk parts is the hard part. Looks like maybe it was for the China model 3 retrofits they are doing. I'd imagine it's easier to do than the aftermarket ones.

Oh yes they tried to claim I had a bad PCS and wanted 3k when it was actually a cache issue making it not update, so toolbox was still worth it. Plus I did get the car to recognize the tow hitch ecu I got off eBay so turning on that function with toolbox made it worth it too :)

I won't go into details publicly, but yes there is other ways to enable options other than toolbox that do work, but they are super risky void your warranty and definitely more than most people would want to do.

Same issue here, the sirius xm branded one worked way better for me with an mcx to fakra adapter. The eightwood one seems very directional and picky on signal.

Its probably worth a try, from what I can tell if the mcu is gen 3 it just checks if the tuner has the sirius capability and enables it.

Nope I just changed the housings, the rivets are a pain to drill out. I saw one of the chips didn't have a heatsink metal covering it, so I took a spare heatsink for a raspberry pi and used that to help cool the chip that the old housing didn't quite cover.

Its important to note that the sxm tuner in that silver box floats above main harmon tuner and it communicates through the pins that are unpopulated on the first image. That silver tuner box actually looks similar to the part used in other radios that have sirius.
