FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Had this excellent series of decisions in downtown DC traffic last week (v12.3.4). Just wanted to share, cheers.

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I only leave if off when my wife is in the car lol. She doesn't use it or trust it yet. But I use it every day for probably 80%+ of my driving on both highways and city streets.

Autopilot randomly changes set speed on DC I66 Express Lanes

Yeah I've experienced the same thing on both the 66 and 495 express lanes. Bouncing between the normal speed limit and the express lane limit. Haven't had it phantom brake down to 30mph though. It seems the navigation via express lanes has improved over the last couple updates, but this issue...

    FSD getting things right

This MY was delivered in November 2022 and still on HW3. Also lucked out with one of the last cars to have USS.

    FSD getting things right

It's incumbent on the merging car to find a clear space, rather than start to merge when side-by-side. I think FSDb behaves properly in most of these situations. But I too disengagement sometimes just to be polite :)

    FSD getting things right

In my experience, FSDb is handling these types of tight merges pretty well (as the non-merging car). When a car wants to merge and beings to proceed in front of FSDb, it slows down, then slows further as the car enters the lane. Merges onto highways, however - where FSDb is the merging car -...

    FSD getting things right

Saved more dashcam clips over the last few weeks of FSDb performing well. One thing I was struck by was how reliably it slows down safely for merging vehicles, including those that are essentially cutting me off. Here's a quick compilation of those. FSDb was engaged (never disengaged) in all of...

Why does FSD run so many red lights?

In over a year of using FSD almost every day, I've only had it mishandle a red light once. This was in downtown Washington, DC where the lights are on the side of the road. It stopped properly, but tried to proceed as if it were a stop sign. 99.9% of the time it has been flawless (for me).

    FSD getting things right

This is HW3 on a 2023 MYP. I usually drive on Average or Assertive, this video is probably a mix of both. I usually don't select "minimal lane changes" unless I'm on the highway, where I sometimes want to select speed-based lane changes on my own. My only complaint with lane changes is that it...

    FSD getting things right

That's the catch with programming "human-like" behavior, isn't it? Without memory/recall, it can't learn from mistakes and avoid them on future attempts. I thought the FSDb feedback loop would eventually help solve these things, but for the most part it hasn't. The good news is, it's becoming...

FSD - Stop & Go Traffic

I use FSDb every day (both highway and city) and I don't even think about it stopping anymore. In high speed situations, stop and go, you name it. It's never failed me stopping in time for traffic ahead. And 90% of the time it is smooth and comfortable. The only issue can be when it...

    FSD getting things right

Feel the same way. I think about that regularly - most other drivers barely know what Autopilot does, much less what FSDb is capable of. Tesla certainly doesn't market it. And until it's out of beta, I don't see why they would. Is FSDb offered to test during demo drives? Sometimes I want to...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

Agree on AutoPark and Smart Summon. Hard disagree on City Streets and Traffic + Stop Sign Control. I use them every day largely without issue, making my commute more relaxing and safer. I know where the limitations are - complex/busy left turns for example - but "gimmicks/barely...

    FSD getting things right

Yes of course. The video is labeled FSD Beta. I definitely experience the same on updates, having to be more cautious to understand potential new behaviors. Part of the beta testing experience I suppose. And I experience similar issues driving around northern VA: problems include HOV...

    FSD getting things right

Totally agree. Overpromising is annoying because FSD's capabilities that exist *now* are actually really impressive. And I don't think people can fully appreciate how much it can do until they get behind the wheel with it. But if you haven't driven with it, most of what you see are examples of...

    FSD getting things right

Hi all - I've been using FSD for the last 8 months. And while I experience a fair amount of screw-ups and disengagements, I've also noticed how comfortable I'm getting using FSD on every drive. It occurred to me that we (rightly) put a heavy focus on where FSD needs to improve. But I think this...

    FSD Beta 10.69

I just received access to FSDb for the first time (10.69.3.3) and wanted to share my initial impressions. Driving a 2023 MYP I purchased last month. Overall, I was surprised at how competent FSD feels. I was prepared for a bad experience given many of the issues I’ve read about here. And while...

2022.40.4.1 am I screwed out of FSD beta?

Huh? I'm so confused! Sorry, I'm brand new to Tesla :)
  22. H

2022.40.4.1 am I screwed out of FSD beta?

Do you mean that when it gets pushed beyond employees/OGs, it will end up being on 2022.40.4.2 or later?
  23. H

2022.40.4.1 am I screwed out of FSD beta?

I’m on 2022.40.4.2 so I assume I’ll need to wait a bit longer for the next FSDb release? Appears the one that went out last night is on 2022.40.4.1
