Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I'm curious and would like to ask what is the general speculation of how much of a step up in power / acceleration the '24 M3P will have vs the 23 M3P. It is my understanding that the '24 is a few hundred pounds heavier than the '23 because of thicker glass, and substantially more sound...

    I'm running Apex 18 x 9.5 Vs-5Rs wheels on my 2023 M3P and it clears the brakes just fine. 255 40 18 PS4S tires

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The 5517 goes virtually un-noticed unless someone is a seasoned collector, only then do they see it, so not terribly flashy IMO, It is not shiny, does not have facets to twinkle. The 5517 is one of the most purpose built vintage watches out there. Rarely does anyone notice it. Only if you...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I held off on ordering a S Plaid track pack because I want to see what the Highland M3P will be like. I prefer the visibility of the 3, and the more nimble handling of the 3, and the slightly smaller size. I also prefer that I can virtually dissapear in the 3. I live in the San Francisco Bay...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

I think it had more to do with the conversation about the watch I was wearing. After they noticed what I was wearing and did a little google search I think they saw dollar signs. It is worth many times the car, but you are certainly free to speculate. It appears to me more like they took a...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

I wanted to change the height because when I first got the car back from NorCal Chassis, it was the stock height (smack my head.) Given there was some confusion about me saying I wanted two fingers between the wheel well and tire and not 3 like stock, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and...

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

And here is an "invalid" -4.4% slope run with rollout subtracted of a then 2.86 0-60 time. I imagine driving off a cliff would improve this even more.

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

Here is the 2.99 0-60 without rollout ( the rollout was subtracted.) This is with everything in the car (no seats removed, etc), and some stuff in the trunk. The only change to the car is the lighter wheel/tire combination. This is without pre-heating the battery. To me, this is pretty good...

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

I really like the Tesla driving and app experience. With my lightweight forged 18.3lb Apex Vs-5Rs wheels, My draggy says (without rollout) my 0-60 has been 2.99 Just squeaking in under 3 seconds. I don't know of any other super easy to operate grocery getters that can do that.

I was just waiting for someone to point that out. 🤣I have more cars than garage space. Those cars are at a nearby house that I own and sometimes AirBnB.

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

Ass-u-ming the hypothetical not necessarily true.. See I actually drive all my cars, and don't freak out if stuff happens. Stuff happens, stuff gets fixed. I've curbed these wheels, then got them fixed, life goes on. Not going to get into a debate over it, just pointing out, maybe I was asking...

Track Mode Handling Balance 0% Front 100% Rear - Does it reduce straight line acceleration or available power?

So moving the bias from 50/50 to 0/100 does NOT reduce the power to the front? How is it possible that reducing the power to the front does not reduce the overall power? Is the rear motor on its own somehow able to make the same amount of power as the front and rear motor combined? If this were...

Have creaking noise when turning sharply after installing MPP page mill front rotors???

ugg, I see my voice to text does not know when to use "their" vs there and I posted without proof reading. So I'm only partially literate... My point was that I am quite happy with MPP and 'their' customer service :0)

Fastest 1/4 mile tires for 18inch rimmed M3P

Good info, at only 22.5 lbs for 265/35ZR18, they are 3.2 lbs lighter each than my 255/40R18 PS4S Pair these with my 18.3 lb 18 x 9.5 Apex VS-5RS wheels and maybe the extra width can protect from curb rash (which I've experienced 2x )

Have creaking noise when turning sharply after installing MPP page mill front rotors???

Update, removed the wear indicator finger on the pads and that removed the noise 90% of the time I was hearing it. Now I can hear it only a tiny tiny bit when turning the wheel almost all the way to the side. I called MPP and they were there usual helpful selves and knew this was the problem...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

Just got back from by buddies shop. As expected, adjusting the perch height fixed the problem. After driving the car around over bumps I've confirmed all is stable. For whatever reason, the perch heights just needed to be different left an right, maybe a different length spring? When it was...

are you holding back model S long range purchase due to new model 3 highland performance release next year?

If they could just get the power curve more like the S, that would be enough for me. If the 3P were "only" a high 10 second 1/4 mile car, that would be enough for me to pull the trigger again. It doesn't need to be 800 hp for me, if they could keep it above 500 for the whole 1/4 mile, that...

are you holding back model S long range purchase due to new model 3 highland performance release next year?

I've decided to hold off on the S Plaid because I prefer the more nimble model 3 performance, just I want more performance. A 700-800 HP model 3 would hit the sweet spot for me. I'm not buying the car for fit and finish, I'm buying it because it is a fast toy with nearly 100% anonymity....I can...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

I'm glad you caught this, I just realized, that in my haste I posted the WRONG amount they charged me. It was not $2400, it was $1910. The $2400 was my total cost of the coilovers w/shipping. My bad, my mistake. The amount they charged me in total after 2 visits, first to install the...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

I'll see if I can get a good look at it and measure it by the end of this week. Super busy right now. Yes, not simply saying "Bring it in and we'll have a look" was not offered. It was made very clear that it would not even be looked at for less than $550 which is one of the reasons I'm not...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

Follow up. Now it appears the owner was informed of my plan to file a small claims action, and that initiated ae email response just a moment ago from the owner who said that it may be a bad shock. Given this is a genuine honest possibility, to be fair I am going to have another shop check out...

Bad experience with Nor Cal Chassis works, warning to others.

I had Nor Cal Chassis Works in Fairfied install KW coilovers on my brand new M3P. Looked good when I picked it up, but after driving home, the suspension clearly settled as the rear left is about 1/2" lower now than the rear right. Emailing with the workers there, they said they would have to...

Have creaking noise when turning sharply after installing MPP page mill front rotors???

Installed by Griffin in Berkeley. I think it is a competent shop, just the MPP rotor is different dimensions. I'm not troubled by not having the wear screech indicators. Good enough for me.

Have creaking noise when turning sharply after installing MPP page mill front rotors???

sorry for the slow follow up. It is fixed now. It was the brake pad wear feeler screecher thingy that makes noise when the pads wear. It was hitting the top hat. With those removed, all is well.

Have creaking noise when turning sharply after installing MPP page mill front rotors???

I'm posting this knowing that others have fixed creaking issues with lube because I had zero creaking on my now 2 month old 2000 miles driven M3P, then I had the rotors installed, and the creaking started immediately after the install. Has anyone had this happen immediately after installing...

New 2023 M3P any recomendations for a stronger batteryshield to prevent coolant lines from breaking if I run over something?

Anyone try these on M3P? : https://tsportline.com/products/model-3-coolant-line-aluminum-protection-guards Since it looks like these protect the lines more outboard than the flat plate does, is it better to get both?

New 2023 M3P any recomendations for a stronger batteryshield to prevent coolant lines from breaking if I run over something?

ug, just looked again and MPP's site says this: Important Note! This skidplate is a direct replacement for Tesla PN 1499151-00-C. Newer models (2023+) may come with Tesla PN 1622740-00-B, which is not compatible with this skidplate. We will be designing a new skidplate for those new cars...
