My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

When you spend €100 on cleaning products, but then come down to see this beading you know it was worthwhile :)

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

Spent a couple hours doing a snow foam, deep clean, wax and seal. Delighted with the result. Only have it 3 weeks now, what a car it is.

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

Well, I'll let the photo do the talking after spending a couple of hours with a snow foam, clean, wax and seal. What's your thoughts folks? I'm well impressed with the result.

So today should be good 👍 Will hopefully post up some after photos later.

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

So a small couple of updates on this since my original post, with some learnings for myself in it. 1. I was using Sentry last weekend as some kids were playing football on the street beside my car. For whatever reason, it then decided to turn on automatically overnight for the next 3 nights...

Hi, sorry for delay. I have that measured for you. It's approx. 57mm from bottom of the "S" to lip of the boot, if that's correct in what you were asking, See photo below (hard enough to take with my left hand while holding Vernier in my right!).

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

Ah yes, I get you. And yes that is correct, it only turns off per journey when I mute it. Others I have spoken to with a Highland have found the same. I would be interested to hear if any other Highland owners have been able to clear this permanently.

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

From the guides I've been told and where to look, I haven't been able to turn it off on car main menu. I have to mute it every time on the screen for each journey.

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

Thanks, glad it was of help. Yes the colour choice for me was the right one, and worth the extra. My only other choice consideration was grey. Regarding getting home on day of collection, it really is all about what level of charge you get. As I'm from Galway, I'm not very familiar with Dublin...

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

Thanks. It could be any guess really. My EDD changed so many times I lost count. However, while it constantly changed, mostly by day-to-day, it was still collected within the original "January-February 2024" timeframe. I have read that there is a push towards end of quarter, so that being...

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

Yes we can get plans here for cheaper overnight charging once we have a smart meter installed.

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

It's a double chime, that's audible twice when you just go over the limit. So think of 4 beeps to alert you that you've exceeded the speed limit. I have asked on a couple of forum and apparently you can't turn it off I've been told. But I was also told it's an EU thing, and not a Tesla feature.

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

Hey folks, two weeks after collection and now covered 1000 kilometres, I've posted up a thread on my take so far. It's here if anybody wants to have a look. Hope everybody so far is enjoying theirs : )...

My Tesla Model 3 Highland experience – 1000 kilometres and 2 weeks later (in Ireland)

So I have now driven 1000 kilometres in my two weeks of ownership so far of my Model 3 Highland. Not only is this my first Tesla, it’s also my first EV having owned a range of different high powered cars in the past, mainly BMW’s and rwd Japanese coupes. While this thread brings it down to...

Jimmy can I ask you, are these full alloy wheel covers, or just the centre caps? Hard to tell from here. I bought a set prior to delivery of the car from Amazon (wheel nut covers x20 and 4 small centre caps), and even though it said available for all Model 3's, I don't think they will fit the...

    Model 3 Highland warning icon

Thanks folks. I'm not necessarily a speed limit breaker, but just recently a new road opened on my commute to work and Tesla seems to think it's a 50klm zone where it's actually a 100klm limit. So it goes off every time. I'll just hit mute when I set off for work.
  18. ColR

    Model 3 Highland warning icon

Thanks. So basically every time I drive my car I gotta hit the mute button on the speedo sign.

    Model 3 Highland warning icon

Is there an area where you can turn this "feature" off permanently? I have looked in both safety and autopilot menus, but there isn't a place to turn off the speed warning chime that I can see. Am I missing something?

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

Jimmy those covers look seriously good. I bought the smaller centre caps and individual wheel nut covers, but the hubcaps have been far more impressive looking that I thought so I haven't taken them off yet. It was a lovely weekend playing with the new toy. Mostly getting things properly set...

Well that was a cracking day. What a car. Even though I borrowed my friends 2022 M3 SR last summer for a weekend to see if I would like it, this has surpassed that. Looks great, very quick and effortless steering. I even had the hang of the indicators within 5 minutes. No frills collection, and...

Finally got my reg just there. Was able to update my insurance online manually as it didn't recognise the reg (123.ie). It didn't cost anything to change over from my old 2007 BMW 630i. About to hop on the train soon from Galway. Dublin folks, is it easy to get a taxi outside Heuston Station or...

So I still have no reg plate..... I rang again, got through to a different girl. She apologised about the delays in Ireland. She followed up with an email just now saying I'll get my reg plate tomorrow. While travelling to collect the car on a train. That's a real inconvenience 😡

Nice one Jimmy. How did you fine the whole collection experience? Did you get much battery in yours? I see they have the red buckets out for washing them!

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

Wow that's really not much at all is it. In anticipation of collecting tomorrow with and travelling west, where's the nearest chargers? (The plan was to make it to Enfield but that could be a push if battery charge is similar).

Currently on the phone to Tesla asking about my registration...... Wish me luck....... EDIT 1: So I got through to Rachel. If that's the case, then it's not possible for those of us collecting Thursday to tax the car prior to pickup, especially when we don't have reg plate yet?
  31. ColR

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

If I got a Euro every time I checked the app for the reg plate, I could've paid off the car with this.

  33. ColR

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

Feck now you have me worried...... I thought all I have to do is transfer insurance once I get the reg then? Unless I'm missing something I haven't done yet? Tesla app and on browser just says "prepare for delivery". Fully paid up, all forms filled out re: SEAI, train ticket booked etc.
  34. ColR

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

I assume so. I haven't got any notification that it was due to update? Edit: Just checked Tesla app settings, it's version 4.29.5-2203. That the same as others?
  35. ColR

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

Did Tesla send you all the details for you to tax it? I've never taxed a car prior to owning it before, only after I received the log book. Also, still no sign of my reg plate yet.
  36. ColR

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

Nothing here either. I keep checking the app and also a browser to see if reg appears. Due to collect Thursday at 3pm.

I was just going to bring a printout of the finance part, showing that I have paid my fees in full, and also drivers licence. Think that's enough? Does anybody know, are they strict on the "arriving only 10 minutes before appointment" rule?

I paid a €100 test first once I had added Tesla as a payee. It went through by next morning. So then I paid in 3 installments as my limit was €20k per 24 hours. That's with Bank Of Ireland online banking. Meanwhile, wish me luck, I have a viewer tomorrow for my BMW 630i for sale 🙂

Don't get me wrong, I'll take what I can get for sure. Just my preference would've been a Wednesday morning as I'd have a lift sorted for then. Do we think these dates are confirmed dates, or likely to change?

    Irish Delivery and Collection 2024

I just got allocated a preliminary collection date, Thursday 15th February from 3pm - 3.30pm. Question though, I thought we could choose our own collection date?
