There are many reasons why you would need a 100% charge. I was not charing to 100% at every single supercharger stop. Only when the drive warranted it or performing a test for Tesla.
For example, if my next stop was 100 miles from the nearest Supercharger stop and there was no charging...
I don't use 100% at every supercharger, 80% is good to get between SC.
Problem is on the last leg of my trip into Texas or New Mexico I need a 100% charge to make it back out. There are no SC at my destinations (even though they have been planned for over a year) and most of the older houses...
Dude Seriously?
Model 3 Orders opened up Apr 2016. I placed my Model 3 order on day 1. and got it Jan 2018
My Model S didn't start having Charging problems till Dec 2016. 5 months after we placed our Model 3 Order.
Up until Feb 2018, Tesla was still working the issue. Based on discussion with...
Ok so here is an update.
I waited a couple of weeks to write this because, well i'm pissed & disappointed.
According to Tesla:
- Supercharging stops taking 2 hrs or more = Normal. Nothing Wrong
- Charge not completed (stopping at 96-99% when set to 100%) = Normal. Nothing Wrong
They kept...
I have not, Like I said i have not really focused on the KW rate during charging till recently. I trusted that Tesla would be looking at that during the logs review. As it turns out, they were only focused on the brick levels.
I do recall thinking on the last test that 116kw seemed a little...
At home just like at the superchargers, it stops anywhere between 96-99%. I only see about 15 min extra charging which at home that is nothing when charging takes 4.5 hrs. ( have dual chargers charging at 80amps)
So I finally got a decent response from the Service Manager.
They are going to pickup the car this week and check out the cooling system and any other possible system in the car that could be causing the slow charging & the battery not topping off.
BUT, he did share with me that Tesla puts...
Most of that stuff around the KW tends to go over my head. My complaint was that the car charged a certain time the first year of ownership and it has slowed down substantially the 2nd year and 3rd year, even with a new battery.
I created a graph to track all the charging attempts that...
God I hope you are not right about the warranty on charging rates. To me the charging times advertised is what makes the car a viable replacement to gas cars. For the first year I experienced the advertised charging times.
But yeah, you are correct about range. I try not to focus on the range...
I mean getting to an 80% state of charge.
Usually it did not matter to the current state of charge, The car would adjust and start with a high kw rate and slowly taper down the closer I got to 80%. I would regularly get 30 min supercharger stops to 80% no problem in warm weather. Again, as...
I'm not aware of a manual process to balance the battery. Can you direct me to where I can find it or how to do it?
I've read that the car does automatically balance the battery as needed. The behavior i'm seeing is as if the car is perpetually stuck trying to balance the battery. It would...
I agree, the problem is I consistently have to wait 2 hrs or more for a full charge & I cant get a full charge.
I've tried with a warm battery during a longer drive, cold battery and i always get the same results within 5 min.
Before this started happening, charging was consistent. The car...
I normally got 80% in 30min, 45 min if it was under 40 degrees. Regardless of the start charge state, the car would adjust and 30 min stops were not a problem as long as I was not sharing a charge.
100% would take 1 hr to 1hr 10min normally and up to 1hr 30 min in really cold weather (40...
Looking for advise from the community and not to be bashed.
I've lost complete confidence in my Model S and need advise on what to do next.
I have a 2015 Model S 85D with Dual Chargers. It's been a very bumpy road with this car with tons of reliability issues. Almost everything has been...
Update - just a couple of hours after this post all of a sudden the app started working.
Using the card got really annoying because the car would not lock itself. Had to use the card everytime. Domes the car would not even read the card on the b pillar and it took several attempts. But now...
So I just picked up my 3 last night, really love the car. it's looks great and drives better than I expected. #1507. But I don't have access to the car from the App. I'm stuck using the does not always work card. There was 3 model 3's in the delivery center in Costa Mesa and apparently we were...
I just got my 3 last night and the Wifi still not functional. Nothing happens when you click on the LTE icon. Even at the delivery center with access to Tesla's network, the 3 did not have Wifi access. Delivery Rep said that it's not enabled yet and should be available in coming updates.
Yes, multiple Level 2 chargers & superchargers. All the same behavior & I've had charging complete at 99% at superchargers as well.
One of the reason why this 1% bothers me so much is because of the extended time at the superchargers.
In warm temp a 100% took 1hr 10min
In cold temp a 100%...
I have seen this behavior as well and consider it normal.
I've charged to 100% and left the car sit and in 1hr or so the battery level drops. But that is not what is happening here. I've had the car complete charging as low as 96% when set to 100%.
My worry is that the battery management...
Have you also noticed slower charging at the top?
Charging at home (80 amps) is 30-45 min slower when the issue is present.
At a supercharger i've gone from 1.5 hrs to 2 hr for a full charge.
I've gone to some remote places with my Model S where there is no charging and I needed the full...
Varies on the trip. I've gotten her down all the way to 3% while testing and still had charging complete at 99.
As part of the testing, I did perform several charge cycles from High to low. Tesla requested under 20% but I went down under 10% and back up to 90 before attempting another charge...
I’m reaching out to the forum for advice on what to do next. I’ve been working with the Service center for 5 months now and I still continue to have charging problems. They have been nothing but great but I need a way to get my car fixed.
Car Details:
2015 Model S 85 D
Dual Chargers
Problem...
I"m having the same problem. Set the car to charge to 100% and the completes charging at 99%.
The car actually states charging is completed at 99%. This is not it charged to 100% and i get into a little later an have 99%. For what ever reason the car could not charge to 100%. So I started to...
I had the same problem & it ended up being a loose harness.
Problem started similar as yours. GPS would track a couple of miles off from where I actually was. Then sometimes these was no tracking at all that would eventually return.
Took it to the service center and they could not replicate...
My co-worker eventually got his Tesla fixed after BMW dealer finally honored it's CPO warranty. But it took hiring a lawyer and serving the dealer with the threat of legal action before they did anything.
I too did the switch from an I3 to a Tesla and at first I did not like the difference.
The i3 is far more aggressive and allows for true single pedal driving. But like others stated, under 5 mph the i3 is just doing some cleaver programming and actually using the motor on power to slow down...
I initially used the RPM decals and just did not like the look. The whole logo was not properly covered and just looked off, like a sticker. The rear Tesla lettering was also really small and edges started to separate after the first couple of washes.
I switched to plasti dip red and the...
I started another thread on this because I've had a lot of issues with my car the recent being the charging & now the horn.
I'm currently in the middle of getting the battery replaced. My car is at the service center as I write this.
But it took some convincing & time to get here.
The first...
While a big part of me wants another Tesla because no other car compares. I'm seriously having doubts because of the recent service & parts issues i've experienced. My wife and I considering just flipping our model 3 when it comes, Specially if it's delivered within that first year. We may...
Very well said. I too want Tesla to succeed and cant help but rave about my S to everyone I meet. But my recent experience has me worried about their future success with the Model 3. Making cars is just half of the pictures. Parts & service is also just as important. Tesla needs to focus on...
I think you may have missed the point of my post. Tesla has a service & parts problem.
That issues i'm having as a whole on a single car are rare. I've put a lot of miles on my car in less than 2 years. I drive my baby everywhere and my wife and I both drive her. I tend to be gentle on cars...
The GPS harness was new to me too. The GPS antenna is integrated into the rear window. There is harness under the headliner towards the back of the car that connects it to the main screen. Somehow mine was not properly secured and on nice hot days over 100 degrees the harness would separate just...
I've had a lot of little issues with my model S over the last 16 months. But the Horn going out, really? How bad is Tesla's build quality that the stupid horn is starting to go out??
Aside from some squeaks and rattles I've had the following major problems with my 2015 S 85 D
- Autopilot 1.0...
Update.
- Battery replacement has been approved, just waiting on a battery now. hopefully that does not take months. Does anyone know if I will get a new battery or a refurbished one?
- No update on the seats. I've reached out to another contact at Tesla from when I first got my car to...
The only reason I attempted a 100% charge at the SC was because the Service center wanted to make sure I used more than just my home charger (confirm is was not a problem with my charger) Using the Supercharger also bypasses the onboard chargers and helps rule them out as the cause too.
But I...
The charge at the top is slower than normal. I know charging is slow at the top.
Yesterday I attempted a charge to 100% again, this time with my local supercharger. I started at 27% and the charge to 80% took 20 minutes. From 80% to 100% it normally takes 30-45 min max for me (85kw battery). I...
I go to the Palm Springs service center for this same reason. Last time I used Buena Park, the car sat for a week without anyone touching it.
Tesla has a real service problem on their hands. They have doubled the amount of Tesla on the road in the last year and only opened less than a hand...
I'm having 2 issues that are just taking way too long to get repaired and want to get the forums advise on what are my options to proceed.
I live in Souther California & Use the Palm Springs service center that is about 1.5hr away from my home.
2015 Model S 85D with Dual Chargers.
Issue 1 -...
Website doesn't work. Did a search last night and they mainly have a Facebook page and tried reaching out thru there. Im always worried when a company does not have a Web Page.
While completely true and I agree with you. California is Tesla biggest market. The Model 3 will first roll out to Californians before anyone else. The Supercharger network is already busy in California with most superchargers seeing a short wait on the weekends. As the Model 3 comes out and...
