Summary of Model 3 Related Info From Shareholder Letter

I used this data to update my explainer on the race to 200k U.S. deliveries, whereby the "winner" is the first to lose the Federal EV Tax Credit. It's really Tesla v. GM - but with today's news, it doesn't look like anyone will be able to beat Musk's Merry Band of Disruptors: Plugless | Tesla or...

    Plugless Power Wireless Charging Update

You rang? You are correct @Electric700. (Disclosures: I work for Plugless and we did not work with Tesla on this integration). We go to truly great lengths to design Plugless to be a fully reversible premium accessory that changes nothing about the EV (no drilling, cutting, breaking etc) - the...

    Plugless Power Wireless Charging Update

Great question. It's always about cats though - for the record our engineers like all animals including humans - safety is obviously extremely important to us. The scenario is simply not an issue - 1st inductive resonant charging just doesn't work that way (i.e. it's not a microwave for example)...

    Plugless Power Wireless Charging Update

The difference in efficiency from corded charging is roughly 7% for level 1 charging and roughly 12% for corded level 2 charging. This translates to typically less than a dollar extra less per evening charge (obviously many factors go into this - daily driving mileage, electricity costs.

    Plugless Power Wireless Charging Update

208V (because his installed at his shop with commercial power) - it's 240V 30-amp at home - which translates to 20 to 25 miles of charge per hour, which is PLENTY of charge for typical daily driving mileage and overnight and/or at work charging.

    Plugless Charging

Disclosures (I am with Plugless and we did not work with Tesla on our system) - on efficiency. We think all inductive chargers should be judged by the following three criteria - 1. What is the TOTAL wireless system efficiency as compared to the corded equivalent (not the efficiency just across...

Wireless Charging: Plugless Power Demonstration Video

Your math looks sound. So, for example, if you are the typical male driver 35-54 years old and crank about 18,900 miles per year - that 100K will take you 5.3 years to complete, so a premium of about $189 per year.

Wireless Charging: Plugless Power Demonstration Video

You should absolutely. We think all inductive chargers should be judged by the following three criteria - 1. What is the TOTAL wireless system efficiency as compared to the corded equivalent (not the efficiency just across the gap, as an example) 2. As provided by 3rd-party testing and 3. on a...

Yes, you can. (few of our customers do, it's definitely not required). Disclosures: I work for Plugless. Plugless is an aftermarket accessory - READ: we did not work with Tesla. These questions often come up: Plugless Charging for Tesla Model S Questions Answered

Heya NeverFollow - thanks for your interest in Plugless. I wrote: "Plugless is roughly 7% less efficient than corded level 1 charging Plugless is roughly 12% less efficient than corded level 2 charging." I think you are pointing out that 7% and 12% doesn't match the testing sheets. The key is...

...same, and the music ugghhh. Again not about saving a few seconds here and there but forgetting to refuel altogether. This is what our customers tell us - they get it theoretically when they purchase, but after a few weeks it dawns on them that they just don't think about it anymore. One guy...

    Plugless Charging

That's largely correct (there is a fan on the control panel that moves, but yes at the point of charging, no moving parts). Also, if you need to drive off while charging on Plugless, it disengages when you step on the brake.

    Plugless Charging

Ahhh shucks, thanks @Desert Driver. No doubt you will have seen 95% - but two important things to caution you on any efficiency numbers you may see - are they for production systems? You can get all sorts of exciting efficiencies in a lab, all sorts of things have to happen to sell a safe...

    Home charging questions.

Disclosures, I work for Plugless and we are an aftermarket accessory and have not worked with Tesla on Plugless. Plugless for Model S is a 7.2kW charger and so it provides at least 20mph of hands-free, never have to think about it charging. For the VAST majority of daily driving miles and...

My pleasure. Good question - the reservation is $244 and will allow reservation holders (AWD or RWD) to get a discounted price of $2,440 on their first in the world, 7.2kW hands-free charging system. The full price after reservations will be more but we aren’t ready to announce that (read: we...

    Instead of Robot Chargers, WIRELESS!

It's the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit. 30% off any electrical vehicle charging costs, including EVSEs (like Plugless) and electrical work (parts and labor but not permitting) up to $1,000. Instead of Robot Chargers, WIRELESS!

Well now, how (and where) it works is a getting a bit proprietary (but it works). No, the power rate is 6.6kW so yes you'd be at 90% in the am and you wouldn't have really even thought about it, it will work seamlessly as if you were plugged in, meaning your charge time settings on the Tesla...

    Instead of Robot Chargers, WIRELESS!

Totally doable - but "near term?" - let's establish WEVC charging first THEN get to fast-charging, note - this is my personal opinion. Heat management is critical yes, but I am a marketing guy so I can't speak to it technically, but it can be managed. At higher power, direct DC WEVC charging...

Brainstorming for an inexpensive automated charging solution

Heya, Steve Cummings here - full disclosure, I work for Plugless.
