So who actually has configured their P or AWD?

You can't get a P without LR or D, so how about just "3P"? ;)

So who actually has configured their P or AWD?

Original Invite was Feb 22. Yes, I indicated AWD when I deferred.

So who actually has configured their P or AWD?

Yeah. I yelled "YOLO" and clicked the Performance button. Awesome. So there are now four of us, I guess. :)

So who actually has configured their P or AWD?

Yes. Yes I did. I keep checking my Tesla account to make sure my order is still there. My order is still there. I thought I'd pop over here to see if anybody else was able to order. I knew @ryanjm was able to, and I see @NickHoffmann got an order in too. But seriously, I...

Three weeks and my biggest disapointment in the Model 3...

He answered in the YouTube comments that the 3 had 18" aeros. He also said that the Leaf is a 2011 with original wheels. That means it has 16" wheels (newer Leafs can be had with 17" wheels). Also, Nissan made the Leaf suspension a bit stiffer starting in 2013. The early Leafs have a very...

Three weeks and my biggest disapointment in the Model 3...

I think you meant to say "Lincoln". Cadillac has been out-BMW'ing BMW for the past decade. If you want a cushy cruiser, you want a Lincoln or a Buick.

    Model S 19" wheels on a Model 3?

o_O ....Tesla doesn't offer the sport wheels in a 20" size, let alone staggered. At least not yet.

Vendor Model 3 Wheel Fitment by GetYourWheels

Thanks! Do you happen to have a photo looking straight down one of the sides of the car? I'm curious if these wheels stick out from the fenders at all, or how far they are tucked in. Do you know the offsets for these wheels? I couldn't find that information on Avant Garde's website.

It looks like that wheel comes in 8.5" and 10" widths. I assume these are 8.5"? Did you use any spacers? What size tires did you fit to these wheels?

You probably should have went with the longer version. There's going to be those one or two times per year when - for whatever reason - you'll need to charge your car out in the driveway.

    Heated front seats in base?

Not as unlikely as you might think. If you look at the Premium Upgrades Package for the Model S, it lists "Heated seats for every passenger". However, the Model S does come with heated front seats as standard, despite that vague wording for what the upgraded package includes.

I am really sick of hearing you all cry about trunk / storage space in the 3.

Yes, but you said: A Model S is not a compact hatchback, and is a rather large vehicle.

Will the Model 3 become the standard fleet purchase for Taxi Coys.?

That's exactly what it includes. That's why it's referred to as "full autonomy". The camera and radar can detect obstructions. Rerouting is handled by software. Neither can my eyeballs, but through fleet learning the cars will know that a blind driveway exists there and take whatever...

I am really sick of hearing you all cry about trunk / storage space in the 3.

Then a Chevy Bolt is the PERFECT car for you. Seriously. You've exactly described it. It's got a very compact footprint, but a lot of interior space for its size. Forget about the 3 and get yourself a Bolt. I'd rather have a damn sexy sports sedan, but that's just me.

Will the Model 3 become the standard fleet purchase for Taxi Coys.?

The engineers at Tesla believe that they have all of the necessary hardware. You can question it, but I see no reason to. We've already seen a demonstration video of a Tesla driving itself.

Will the Model 3 become the standard fleet purchase for Taxi Coys.?

Sorry, when you replied that the coast-to-coast trip was meaningless, I guess I misunderstood. Today's Tesla cars already have all of the hardware required to support L5 autonomy. There's a lot of work to be done on the software side to get there, but as soon as that happens, all existing...

Will the Model 3 become the standard fleet purchase for Taxi Coys.?

Meaningless? Even if they don't handle those exceptional conditions, it would still be the first production car with level-3 autonomy. I would be very happy with a car that could handle most of the mundane driving, and alert me to take over when it encounters a situation that it can't handle...
  24. garsh

Will the Model 3 become the standard fleet purchase for Taxi Coys.?

Elon believes that they'll be able to demonstrate Level-5 autonomy by having a Telsa vehicle drive itself coast-to-coast by the end of this year. Every Tesla car sold has all of the hardware necessary - hardware that is *not* used for current autopilot. The tech is closer than you think.
  25. garsh

Will the Model 3 become the standard fleet purchase for Taxi Coys.?

I'm sure they will not. :-) Tesla is planning to run its own autonomous taxi service, called "Tesla Network". Owners of Telsas can choose to partake. Their cars would be available for ride sharing when not needed by the owner. Tesla views this as a way to help people afford their cars in...

Model 3 Black Interior Only == Not Good For Warm Climates

Correct. This was a "heads-up" from a Tesla employee who wishes to remain anonymous. The other part of that "leak" is that these would remain the only options for ~3 months. If that's true, I think that's going to cover more than just employees.

    Model 3 RC sightings

What you're describing is simply route-planning. That's a mostly solved problem today. Any navigation app on a phone can perform that task. That's not what autonomous driving is. Should they be allowed to? Sure, that's just the route planning aspect. The car still needs to determine where...

    Model 3 RC sightings

I don't even know what you're trying to say with that statement. If a human isn't turning the wheel or touching the pedals, it's actual autonomy. Whether or not GPS is being used is immaterial.

    Model 3 wheel options

On the S, Tesla allows you to upgrade to the 21" turbines even when ordering the otherwise base rear-drive 75. We've seen RCs with wheels that match the silver alpha's wheels design, but they appear to be a bit smaller in diameter. Tesla doesn't offer a staggered setup on the S. Frankly, I...

Trunk is now 5 inches longer than at the initial reveal.

McHoffa's gif doesn't line up the rear wheel hubs nor the rear wheel wells. It suggests that the wheelbase was shortened, and I think that's much less likely than the trunk being slightly extended.
  42. garsh

    Model 3 wheel options

I have to agree. The RC wheels seem to be a little smaller than what was on the alphas. Also, it looks like we're not going to be offered a staggered wheel setup like the alphas had.

Economic Trade-Offs to Building Model 3

No. GM would much rather keep creating their profitable combustion vehicles. They're building EVs because they *have* to (government regulation). And so far, they appear to be only selling the Bolt into CARB states, where the ZEV credits will help offset the losses on the car itself. The...
