MPP Comfort Coilovers - How Much More Comfortable?

Michelin PS4s 245/35R19 on Rays Homura 2x7 19'' offset +45. Not the lightest wheel, but I like the look. I increased the 'battery to ground' clearance from 111mm to 138mm (same as the new Highland Model 3). Now I can stop worrying about ground clearance :) and it still handles well on the hills.

MPP Comfort Coilovers - How Much More Comfortable?

My Model 3 Stealth Performance had plenty of straight line acceleration but the stock suspension was not great on normal road bumps and on winding hill drives. I tried the Eibach Pro Plus Kit (Lowering springs and Sway bars). The look was great (battery to ground 111 to 115mm) but performance on...

    Charging standards and bickering thereabout

CCS2 DC fast charging is reliable and easy to plug in. DC charging supports up to 500A. Home AC charging In NZ / AUS is normally just single phase, which is limited to 230V * 32A = 7.3kW. For higher power AC charging, regulations require three phase. i.e. 230V * 16A 3PH = 11kW. Having three...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That is not CCS2, I don’t know where you are getting your info. from. CCS2 is three phase + DC. Used in Europe, UK, Aus, NZ etc. It may make sense for USA to standardise on the Tesla single phase + DC connector. I think CCS2 is great for NZ at least. Anywhere I drive I know CCS2 is the standard.

As a South Islander I suggested: Springs Junction, Motueka, Takaka, Invercargill, and Wanaka. I figured ChargeNet is good enough on the Westcoast for now.

Gen 3 wall charger now on the NZ store

I use a Gen 2 wall charger for my Model 3 (2019). I just placed an order for a Model Y, and am looking at a second charger for it, with load sharing. The Tesla documentation says the Gen 3 does not support Gen 2 load sharing :( My options: 1. Buy another Gen 2 wall charger (maybe...

    Anyone using Homelink in NZ?

I bought that receiver and modified it by adding an antenna (5/8 wip) and mounting it on top of the garage. That increased the range from a few meters to about 60m. The Model 3 transmitter is behind the front bumper, so the signal is still poor when driving away from the garage. Now works...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I feel the same. I have been buying TSLA since 2016. Sold 60% at $800+ to lock in some profits. Liquidated the remainder yesterday near premarket open after listening to various disturbing news stories. With cash in the account, I am hoping to get back in when we start hearing some positive news.

Charge to 50% weekdays, 95% Friday & Saturday

I intend to keep my Model 3 for as long as it lasts (20+ years ?). Battery life is a thing. Weekdays: 60% down to 40%. Sometime skip charging. Weekends: 80% down to 30%. Trips: 80%-100% then drive down to 20%.

Tesla Model 3 in New Zealand

Yeh, Love my Model 3, looks stunning and drives like a super car, but I am continually cleaning it. With Cybertruck in the driveway, who cares about a bit of bug splat / animal debris, just drive the f***er :D. 300km (AWD) of green fun. Placed my preorder, will see what happens...

Tesla Model 3 in New Zealand

I picked up my Model 3 in Auckland and drove it down to Christchurch with no issues. Here is a few notes about the trip: 1. The Auckland Supercharger was located in the basement under the Tesla showroom. You need to touch the Tesla Supercharger location on the map to get the code to open the...

Model 3 20'' Performance Wheel Set Interest - Auckland NZ

I was considering getting the M3P+, and swapping the 20'' wheels out for 18'' or 19''. In the end I bought the M3P- and swapped the 18'' Aero wheels for 19'' RAYS (off Trademe). I am really happy with the look and they drive nicely. Being a M3P- the ground clearance is higher than the M3P+...

The wall charger to Model 3 CCS AC comes with a 7m cable. The CCS AC plug includes a button to open the charge port door, using RF I presume. There is no supply cable included. The installation manual shows the base has large screw terminals for 3 phases, neutral and earth. In my case I will...

Got my P3- today. Love it. Took it for a cruse down the busy Auckland Airport motorway and back. Then droped it off to have paint protection film applied, which will take a few days. Autopilot took a few kms to finish calibration, then Autopilot and driver initiated lane change worked well. A...

    So, paint protection film

    So, paint protection film

I have never spent more than $20k on a car so I plan on keeping my Model 3 for a long time i.e. > 10 years. This is my justification for spending $6500 for full PPF using STEK DynoShield. I will ceramic coat the rims etc myself as I have ceramic coated a few cars. I also purchased mud flaps...

What is the tallest sidewall tire that will work with the stock 18” wheel

I am trying to keep the stock sport wheel geometry but with 245mm tyres. Because: 1) More grip. 2) Protects the 8.5” rims a bit more. 3) I now own them. My workings: 1.
